  2. wanted original single ; Force , Holy Moses , Streaker Label. > Vg ++ condition, PM price ! cheers Frank
  3. Welldone Ady for keeping it running this long. Quite a task to sort ! Cleethorpes 6ts weekenders have been the best weekenders i have ever attended over the years. I still remember the early Great Yarmouth Vauxhall Holiday camp weekenders. The Norwich crowd will be there again this year and hopefully we can support the next likeminded organiser to take the reins. regards Frank
  4. Yes its out there , I've got a Johnny Dee in my collection which i spin, My mate J.Muir has asked me not to play it out as he is after a copy too.(sorry John ) Good luck with the search . regards Frank Not sure if anyone out there has played the two tunes back to back , but im 99% sure they are the same and both on De-lite .
  5. It also came out as Johnny Dee on DeLite, which might help your search (I believe De Vigne being rarer). regards Frank
  6. I ve seen the copies of the MANDELLS 'Think back' 2.57 / ' I miss you baby 3.02 on You tube . Can't find my copy yet as its burried in a box somewhere ! cheers Frank p.s. you off to Kettering on Saturday ?
  7. Glad to see the Earls Inc getting a spin ! tune- "Just an illusion"
  8. That Sidney Barnes number always stood out for me ! I remember Dave Flynn doing some good work for Charlys records in the day.
  9. Jackie wilson Because of you , always works .
  10. Tracks of my mind , Sounds of lane , Cobblestone. Birth of a Playboy , Chosen Few
  11. Hi Mike , You're wellcome , nice tunes , glad to see the Jo Stance getting some air-time in Norwich. The 100 club line up had the right balance of Djs with a leaning towards more 6ts which i prefer. Wish i was there mate. The German Christmas markets were a poor substitute but then the mulled wine made up for some of that. see you on the 17th Dec , Billys gig !!! cheers Frank
  12. How to pick a winner , Maurice williams , Deesu ?
  13. your reference to "In it " covers the dancing style really. I guess we have access to "on line dancing " footage today ,so the attending venues and watching and doing your own thing is no longer the only option. People come in all shapes and sizes so their dancing reflects that . The "Off the shelf dancing style" comes across a bit artificial really. IMO.
  14. Mark ,Glad to see you are busy in your retirement ! might make the crossfire nighter too. regards Frank
  15. I would have thought 50 years of soul would have ammounted to more than that !!!! Frank (from Norwich )
  16. The other side of the record isn't bad either .
  17. Alan , mines the same as yours and i have it years .
  18. There is something about taking the record out of its sleeve , wiping it over and getting the record on the deck and listening to the opening bars of the track as it kicks in through the head phones (got neighbours) thats so uplifting for me. Also playing the other side of the record just to see if the tune is in vogue and getting to play with the Gain /speed sometimes works too. I deliberately do not keep them in any order in their boxes so that when i'm trawling through them its always a surprise as to what record comes next. I Guess the whole event is a form of therapy and i find it very satisfying. For me ,CDs / ipod are for the car.
  19. Just finished reading the book and I feel kind of low as i wish there was more, its that good ! Finishing the book , reflects getting that record you've always wanted ,only to want another one ! (never content ) It is a Great read , it's down to earth from a young persons perspective , who doesn't want to be force fed commercial music and won't accept that there isn't something more out there. Characters from across the nation being drawn together by something within themselves. I Totally recommend this book , "A Must Have" for any Soulie. Good factual cover of the scenes progressive years too. Welldone Mr. Cosgrove . "Keep the Faith" Frank Webster , Norwich Backstreet soul club.
  20. Thats very true, Billy has been the driver too many a time , J Muir , Chang , myself and others have coughed up for the fuel for at least 180000 of those miles !!!! Occasionally we get a near event like Soul Essence but the majority of events are at least 2 to 4 hours + away. Still remember your rear spring breaking in the garage for a fuel stop. The lady at the till saw it "ping across" the pumps !! L.O.L. Regards Frank Norwich " The Far East "
  21. Very sad News this , used to buy off John and i still have those records. Always got the late phone call in to him and still managed to bag a tune on his recommendation off his list! I recall he liked his Gospel too. Great loss , R.I.P. Regards Frank
  22. I remember Andy Dyson putting this on a sales tape years ago (late 80ts /90ts ) for about £8. (I managed to get it) A Haunting little number . I think most are in collections, hence few for sale !
  23. I have the same Philips Millionaires press and always wondered what the back ground was to the pressing. It does look odd especially when you put it alongside the USA first press. Thanks for the info guys. Frank
  24. Personally i would not go out of my way for a "download nighter / soul night ". (because i have had and still enjoy the original vinyl scene). The youth will do what they want to do ! I guess there are not enough original vinyl tunes available or affordable to the youth today who may be on a mimimum wage. Unless the young individuals come across a box of vinyl tunes cheaply or inherits a collection , it will be a long time before they will be Djing out with vinyl. Based on this i think the download era is here to stay and Download events will occur and may become the norm in years to come. One thing we can continue to do is encourage the youth in our present scene where we can and help them if they ask us to. There is a lot of good young talent out there , Djing too. Perhaps the older crowd will be out-numbered and the young majority will rule anyway.(move over Grandpa !) KTF Frank WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH YOUR COLLECTION WHEN YOUR TIME IS UP ? would be a good topic...
