Fifth Avenue Band - was a Keith Money spin way back. Some known tunes on here amongst us collectors , so glad he was not preaching ' only one copy blah blah blah... Think that the opening track is Italian power pop cack IMHO - purchased on Ebay ( might be rare , but it s shite ) . Some good known spins from Timothy Wilson , Kittie Doswell , Steelers ( spun on jazz fm way back when he guested ) -

Anyone Dug In This Place In Manchester?
Glynthornhill replied to Ian Dewhirst's topic in All About the SOUL
Ian , The record dealers we are a strange bunch , BUT George is probably the zany wackiest most awkward guy you would ever meet. First time I went to his store when on Oxford Street - ' what do you want ? ' was his opening line. Oh , I ' m just browsing ' reply. George : We don' t do browsers so clear out if not buying I don ' t have time for this '. Lot s of the vinyl was ruined and his prices were way way high.... When he had mellowed after a few visits we managed to gain access to the attic - tons and tons of soul boogie disco twelves around the early 1980 s' Pulled over 100s of copies of Keni Burke, Arthur Adams, Billy Nicholls - all steady sellers of the day - all offers refused - even 100 for £100 which were good offers on bulk quantities. ' People sare always hassling me for Keni Burke 12s - I wont sell them - he had circa 200 plus of some titles but would not part with anything - the most unhelpful rude dealer I have encountered in over thirty years... ( And that includes some bizarre USA dealers ) He then relocated to smaller premises in Fallowfield and eventually closed that down a few years back.... Last I heard - 2 years back Les Hare ( Kingbee ) was approached by record collector fanzine to appraise his 500 , 000 collection which I think he declined. Then Eli Espirit dealers were sent in - dealt with his son ( much more approachable ) and began apprasing the collection. I know other dealers have offered him thousands for some ... lots is water damaged from a flood last year , and not sure if Eli are still appraising they sent two employees allegedly working a few days at a time .. Then George was saying ' oh , thats not for sale ' . Maybe it was just an exercise to attain value of some he was unsure of....lots of chud and crud in there , but will be some good obscurities still I know early 1980 ' s he had a batch of Blue Note RVG albums but lot 's thrashed. Good luck to any prospective dealers ... be warned .... -
Look at the awful Salvadors - complete with misspelt and incorrect credits - A good way of avoiding the MCPS https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SALVADORS-STICK-ME-BABY-ACE-SPECTRUM-DONT-SEND-NOBODY-ELSE-MINT-/260931207516?_trksid=p4340.m444&_trkparms=algo%3DCRX%26its

Late entry , but possible contender for most worn label to feature this year in Ebay sales - would have binned this if mine and definetely not tried to sell in this condition. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAROL-ANDERSON-DETROIT-NORTHERN-SOUL-45-MID-TOWN-270-LISTEN-IT-/220920484286?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item336fe311be

Here is the 2 documented prices on Popsike - personally I would expect £350 minimum - that 's what I see it for regularly on Ebay and U S websites. Not that easy to find but four or so years back someone was peddling copies weekly on Ebay for some weeks on a regular basis...... https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=MIND+AND++MATTER&thumbs=&currsel=&sortord=&x=17&y=7

When did this jump in price - always sold for £50/100 pounds. Frantic bidding works out around £550 ( at least until the euro burns out ) Some buyers have more money than any sense ... Now is my copy still on the shelf ..... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110781673033?clk_rvr_id=294054151486#ht_1909wt_1270

Played this out three times this year - and every time a minimum of 5 punters ask who it is - startling record. Lucifer was a combo rock group who cut one album for Invictus - also released on a 45 ' Don' t You ' - I have three customers queuing up for one , not easily located although still relatively cheap.
-
I know this has been covered before , but look at these blatant white label 45 's ...sad thing is customers purchase these instead of quality originals for 1/2 these prices in some occasions.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160690552833?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_632wt_1270

Midnight Music Lp Sampler? Anyone Know Anything About This?
Glynthornhill replied to Pete S's topic in Look At Your Box
Yes these are bootlegs issued in the mid 1980 s and early 90s - sold one myself last week or so that had Milton Wright - Keep It Up on it... Most came in plain white sleeves and labels have green writing on a cream background. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110769703708#ht_500wt_1054 -
Both short lived venues Nick , but they were cutting edge if you now look back. 1982 top 20 in my old fanzine shows many Modern 45s still gaining spins today ..we just did not realise we were taste makers in those days just following and buying new releases .. some that command ludicrous price tags now....
-
album was issued Nick - I have a copy nothing of awe inspiring quality on the album - lucky enough to get my 45 signed by the man himself !!!

Info On 3 Records Needed Please 3 Modern 1 Sixties
Glynthornhill replied to Pete S's topic in Look At Your Box
Okay so what about this Morris on Plush then, "Can we melt the ice"? Sold mine for £550 five years back Pete- very rare less than 10 copies came into Uk via Mike Ward when a new release - don' t listen to punters who says its not - this is seriously rare solid centre 45....his other twelves have fetched £30/50 pounds and they ain' t a patch on this 45....
