  5. Soul music lovers, The Embers: The Bobby Tomlinson Story is now officially available as an eBook and paperback through online retailers worldwide including Amazon. This comprehensive biography traces the rise of The Embers, led by original drummer Bobby Tomlinson, who steered the band through six decades of Beach Music history. But for Northern Soul enthusiasts, this book offers something especially compelling. Inside are numerous nods to the fervent UK Northern Soul crowd, who championed The Embers’ soul-infused sounds as early as the 1960s. The book explores The Embers’ connection with soul aficionados on both sides of the Atlantic, showcasing stories from collectors, DJs, and fans who helped bring songs like Just Crazy 'Bout You and Aware of Love to prominence in Northern Soul clubs. The final chapter, dedicated to this transatlantic appreciation, features a special shoutout to Big Man Records, the UK label known for remastering and re-releasing these rare treasures on 45. Their careful restoration has breathed new life into classic Embers tracks, making them once again essential spins on UK dance floors. Whether you’re a long-time fan or a curious newcomer, The Embers: The Bobby Tomlinson Story is a testament to the timeless power of soul and a vibrant reminder of the Northern Soul crowd’s vital role in The Embers’ enduring legacy.

  12. Yes...it should be 2:40 not over 3 minutes.
  13. Regarding when was the Excalibur release of Use Your Head, it would have been Spring 1981.
  14. I hope this is okay to ask on this forum, but I'm curious if anyone has ever heard a "live" full or extended song recording of Bobby Moore and the Rhythm Aces "Searching For My Baby?" I've seen one abbreviated or partial video on Youtube but never seen or heard a full covering of the song. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  15. Anthony & Aqualads/Chantells are worth some thought.
  16. Would anyone on this list happen to kow what the Delphi 45 Cause It Hurts/I've Been Hurt by Obanion & The Features brought last spring? I've looked on John's site but couldn't find it. Thank you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r986xEHultE
  17. This is a great show I've never heard some of the songs before. Do you have a playlist?
  18. I've seen the 45 but have it on the beach gems CD. Band was legendary for frat parties in southeast in the late 60's (song probably recorded 1965-`1969). There other record I've Been Told/All I Can See Is Your Love about 1966 was self-produced by band on Slave Records, P.O. Box 306, Jesup, GA Here are a couple of links to more info on the group: https://www.heybabydays.com/King_David_&_The_Slaves.pdf https://sr64.blogspot.com/2004/08/king-david-and-slaves.html https://southerngaragebands.com/KingDavid.html Chris
  19. Any chance of these being re-posted? Particularly interested in Dancin' In The Streets. Thanks.
  20. Several years ago, I heard a "live" recording of Searching for my Baby by Bobby Taylor & Rhythm Aces. I just bought his Go Ahear And Burn CD collection but there is only the studio version on. Seems like the live version was almost 4 minutes long. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Thank you! Chris Jones Roswell, GA
  21. The book comes with 2 CDs that are a "best of" the entire 14 cd (286 songs) set that are worth the price of the book alone. It's really neat that Greg did the book, and along the way, relaunched some fantastic songs and groups that got over-looked. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have
  22. Interesting to see Rhythm at the top of your list. Rhythm covered by a Burlington, NC band -- The Inmen, Ltd.--is the #1 beach music song in the southeastern coastal states these dates. It's a pretty innovative cut that actually has The Impressions singing backup.
