  6. R.I.P. Frank - a proper soul legend! DILY (not to mention his other contributions) will ensure his legend lives on. Always was and always will be for me THE record which epitomises what a Northern Soul record should sound like.
  7. Senator Jones on Shagg bloody expensive - £700'ish? Chuck Cornish on White Cliffs label, quite a lot cheaper but pretty hard to find! Don't know what going rate is. I picked one up some time ago on ebay very cheap but pretty battered copy. First heard it played by Des Parker at Solid Hit Soul. Is this going/gone big then if Shaun C & Karl H are currently spinning it?

  11. Nancy, shame on you as a Bradford lass Skip Mahoney - top tune!
  12. & great to hear it in your sets at Cleethorpes weekender & 100 Club recently
  13. Nev - no it's not it's a 10 out of 10 from me!
  14. Great record Anyone know where and when and who spun it first?
  15. Agreed, total bollox
  16. Whilst factually it was a little far fetched and self-indulgent, I actually quite enjoyed it. It was nice for a change, compared to the usual crap served up by tv, to sit and watch a programme with a couple of hours of soul influenced music. I accepted it as being light entertainment. It wasn't really a history of clubbing was it though, more a top 40 build up type thing. I thought it concentrated too heavily on the influence of the house scene and the 80's. Clubbing, as we know it, actually started back in the 6t's but the nearest they got to that was a brief nod to The Casino? Is anyone ever going to make a TV programme, or film, which gives an accurate portrayal of how the soul scene is/was?
  17. Remember that night well Andy! Where is Jo when we need her? As I recall she had some hilarious tales to tell from her dj'ing experiences
  18. Well I certainly have
  19. I didn't comment Nelly as I was there but I've listened to some of the sets again and some superb music was played that weekend
  20. Here's a good un from my collection - Denise LaSalle - 1975
  21. Me too Mike - epic tune
  22. Sorry, but when I go to an allnighter, (or even a soul night for that matter), I don't wanna hear ska and reggae. A bit of R&B perhaps but what I want to hear is proper soul music!
