  1. I've noticed an edit there son - come on.
  2. I have since understood that I have possibly made a faux pas, giving you the opporunity to big yourself up on your undesrtanding of all things vinyl. So! I've done you a favour in reality - don't get on me case, you can rattle on about this for ages now.
  3. G'night.
  4. John Virgo and Bill Werbeniuk come to mind.
  5. ...listen to 'I Can See Him Making Love To You'. keep these two lads in mind:
  6. Another B.Hamilton composition that enjoyed a moment in Soul History - 'I Enjoy'! Bah-Bah-Bah-Bah!
  7. This may be a re-post but it's too late to be digging and I feel the need to get it out. I was in The Lion last weekend, arseholed, after the match and felt compelled to ring Rich (Francis) up as I had noticed that Bernie Hamilton, ...had popped his clogs. As I was ringing him, he was trying to ring me (from Hackney) to tell me the same thing. Northern Soul....bloody hell. RIP Bernie. Apart from Tenafly (James Mack), the only US detective type guy that infiltrated my primary school years on a visual level and my 20's in an auditory manner, unbeknownst to me at the time. Never forgotten Bernie.
  8. This - is a feckin' great thread. I mean it.
  9. One of the lads I used to play records at venues with occasionally, Ray Rose (ex-Marcher Sound), used to spend silly money on Linn and I think Pink Triangle decks etc - but he only ever played , his love, 70's soul 7" vinyl on this really expensive gear. Never made much sense to me.
  10. I'm not up on this subject enough to really add anything to this discussion but would CBS and it's satellite labels ever have needed to cut corners and press stuff on reconstituted styrene?
  11. Just done a tad of Spinners Googling on the back of this thread, was Frank Washington (ex-Futures) the same Frank Washington responsible for the Arthur Fenn 80's Bradford killer 'Ice'.
  12. A particular favourite of mine is 'Love Is Such A Crazy feeling'...to place it in a time-scale, an Earlestown Cricket Club play, early 80's.
  13. She makes a belting pan of chips.
  14. This is a nonsense reply in some respects but I must say they are very reasonable prices. Will you accept three weekends (over the year) with my missus for the Gene Toones?
  15. Apologies - 'Wally'.
  16. Thanks for taking the time to reply Ken. We went a wedding a that was held there a couple of months back and was impressed by the room it was held in. Looking forward to it.
  17. So emotive Ken.
  18. Me and t'wife are about to book. Without sounding like a twonk, will we enjoy it?
  19. I simply have to add that we should put this 'high-brow' nonsense that surrounds boots/pressings to bed. Without the business acumen of said booters, thousands of early Soulies would have been denied access to 'out if reach' tracks in their youth. Boots are part and parcel of this scene, the simple fact that this process went on added to the mystique of the NS scene. Fair do's, bootleggers made money only for themeselves - but - at the same time allowed 15 year olds like myself to get off the bus at 8.30am and able to stick 'Manifesto' on my teenage deck at home by 8.40. Again it brings up the question 'Is bootlegging any less detrimental to US artists than covering a track up?' Is it Father Jack! Btw, as an aside, anyone know why Pete Lawson sped up his George Blackwell boot?
  20. Vinyl - Durable...Styrene - sharper of sound. True?
  21. My mate Gerry (Kenny) used to produce some of their stuff. He lives down the end of a country lane in Burtonwood adjoining his next door neighbours, who breed Alsatians. They have a kind of agreement whereby Gerry can knock out 'white noise' all night (all anologue valved noise as it happens) as the Ally's make so much noise during the day. Karma. https://www.discogs.com/artist/Sir+Freddie+Viadukt
  22. I don't know what to say to that reply.
  23. Stevie, the last time I was in was a weekend in sometime in November1984. Assumption is a poor secondary to fact. I know I go on mate, but given the simple fact that you feel the need to reply gives my 'necessary ramblings' credence. Think about it.
  24. Roddy...please. Would you prefer that I don't set these ridiculous, self-answerable questions mate? You just wasted time answering my sh*t question with a sh*t answer. Two wrongs don't make a right.
