  1. Fella, nice to have a decent response and nice to see man stiil on Marvin's trail. My respect to you.
  2. Last one. I used to travel to London on a Thursday with Brian Rae, get dropped off in central London, dick about in the day, stay at Cliff Whites gaff on Thursday - leave Cliffs house, dick about in London on Friday, stay at Cliffs house on Friday, get hoofed out the house on Saturday morning - dick about in London all Saturday, go to Ions do saturday evening, go to Danny's house (bedsit, flop mattress, tailors dummy, basement toilet, no lights), waiting for Brian - who didn't turn up 'til 5.30 am, get an hour in at the 100's Club then wait 'til 1pm for the train home to Warrington....on £18. Your 100 miles look shit right now don't they? ha ha
  3. The only reason I edited this post was to highlight a response of mine in red, that I missed. In fact I had no need to post that, as no doubt it is obvious to the board that at no point have I pulled any punches that I thought at a later date that I am not able to stand up to.
  4. Listen mate the Northernsoul scene is a broad church with multi layers, Well bugger me! Is it mate? there are place where playing a flash stick of music is acceptable collection or no collection so there is never going to be a precise answer to your argument. Okay, I'm with you....I think. I think every one would agree that if you're out at your local with Trev and Shaz - and you are above Trev and Shaz are you? Bit derogatory mate if I'm honest...but carry on...for a couple of Baby Shams and a giggle then yes its ok to whack out your MP3 or Stick or what ever devise you are using to store music on. That last bit was exactly what my thread what my thread was about - but now I know what I'm dealing with.... If you jump in your car and drive 100 miles to an allnighter and pay good money and invest time, petrol and effort into getting to a venue then it would be taking the fookin piss to see a DJ take from his key ring the music your about to dance to. Why? Read my posts mate, you need to. I may have sounded a little rude when I asked why not come to the nighters but seriously why not come to the next nighter with me and we can both go and ask the DJ's and dancers their take on CD's played at venues. You are a musical baby who still believes that what his mates wants to hear is the right thing. I hope one day that you will understand this music - this 'MUSIC'- and not what you wish to believe constitutes loving it actually means. Next! (Christ, I'm so annoying but brutally honest and correct at the same time) Don't despair, your time will come mate. All my love Barry
  5. Any sound file fella?
  6. I've not got past your opening volley mate, as you're font is so annoying, so.... Seeing as you think my collection has anything to do with this, I'll put you straight. If anyone on here thinks that what you have in your box means more than what you have in your heart, then you've missed the point.
  7. Are you serious with that bag of plaster of an answer? You have a lot of growing up to do my friend. If you think that I don't know the difference between an analogue and a digital sound then you need a rest. I don't chat about nowt mate. I'm so pleased that my thread has enabled you to tell the board (sorry, the people you wish to impress) that almost all of your 'collection' isn't on cd - that was a plus for you wasn't it? (Or was it the whole point of your response? Debatable.) Never heard of putting your vinyl to cd? DOH!! That slip up aside, you're talking to me, not some fecking low key imbecile. How's your kid anyway?
  8. Nice answer Stevie.
  9. I love your medal mate. You no doubt have it stitched on your passionate sleeve...and I respect that. And you only used three crayons to design it too.
  10. I mean, as to put it into perspective, Douglas Bader was a belting pilot - Kenneth More played him. HP Pilot. Derek Griffiths from Play School is now a pilot. He'll always be a lad who played with Hamble to me. Without a war, Griffiths was f*cked on the HP pilot angle, know what I mean?
  11. Point: Is/was NS and it's subsequent scene just a medal, held up in our own minds. A medal obtained only by sitting outside the majority (reality) by a fraternity of people that couldn't cope with anything other than dealing with people once a week for a twelve hour period? Whereby we all talked shit about what was relevant to us - music and gear - then didn't have to worry about the following shit six days that followed it? Of course it was. I've answered my own question again. Arse!
  12. For once I am going to attempt to use a negative to prop up a positive. Name me the positive things that once set this scene apart from others. I swear that if anyone has the balls (that was just done to incite btw) to go for this post, they will state the things that made it special yesterday, those same things in todays world do hold this scene back. Open Forum:
  13. I actually didn't finish my point there. What with diminishing audiences and regional and smaller events popping up, as they will, as collectors feel deserving of playing their life's work to their local friends - has this brought about the demise of the HP DJ? On the flip of that, does amassing a collection over a number of years mean anything on the NS scale of things, opposed to burning bright and giving up your all when a scene is in it's infancy? Todays HP DJs did it all as kids after all.
  14. Sean, you are a very wise man.
  15. I am on bended knee mate and they are blush-red too.
  16. When scenes are on the up, whatever scene it may be, Jocks have a firm following of lessers that have neither the finances or the passion to be the top dog, the guy behind the decks so they become followers, dancers, punters - yes or no? The bigger the scene explosion, the larger the amount of lessers obviously. Having spent years observing certain scene's it appears to me that this process is what brings about 'High-Profile' DJ's. Look at any long standing 'HP' jock from any scene and they seem to have made their name during the 'explosion' time on that scene. True - of course it is? I haven't seen any HP relevant dj's come about on the 'serious black music' scene for years. Is this proof that the 'right place, right time' element comes into it? Richard Searling is excepted from this argument of course, as he will never be surpassed.
  17. I think I've just bit and fell for a bit of my own haven't I? Apologies hehe. (Read the posts, read the posts, read the posts!)
  18. I've just re-read your post - are you taking the Michael mate?
  19. I beg to differ. Who is to say that? You? I have been progressive all my life on this scene, would love to own a real Mel Britt and would, at the drop of a hat, have no embarassment in playing it. It's all subjective mate and I do find your post a tad condescending. Yes, your view is your view, but that is all it is - not a benchmark. You've done what you've done and good on you - and obviously tracks like Mel Britt don't fit into your present scheme. But there is no need to belittle another lads view, which is what your above post has just done.
  20. Mate, such a poor, yet expected, typical response from someone I would have thought would be old enough to know better. You may look clever to the one, two, maybe three you wanted to - but to the rest....you simply look poor. I'm still happy as f*ck. How are you mate?
  21. I don't understand the question Pete?
  22. Oh Steve, stop it, I had you and that sleepy Mace fella beat, hands down, just accept it and read my above posts regarding 'degenerating threads'. It's so easy to form a little 'thread alliance' twixt a few of you and parlez vous about how w*nk my posts are - but at least I start 'em and don't simply take the easy 'take a pot-shot at Barry' angle knowing that there will be other lazy arses with nowt better to say that will join in, yo bump me tally up. Know what I mean hehe?
  23. The last word was yours mate. (the use of avatars definately drop's your machismo mate btw - G'night now.)
  24. He was also a God in The Clash mate, wrong bloke to administer your 'knowledge' to.
