  1. Do you think the fact that there were 'real' other forms of music around you during your youth helped you be more musically mature than todays kids? I'm not saying there isn't good stuff about today or there wasn't nonsense about then but the focus today seems to lean toward nonsense. Was a good grounding in music in general a factor in your understanding of Soul music? And can you add three non-NS artists/bands that made an impression on you in your youth.
  2. Traded with Rod Dearlove for mine when when it was rel cheap - then had it nicked.
  3. Flogged a boot a couple of month back - £27.00
  4. I'll second the Searling shout.
  5. I posted the question simply to give the board something to talk about. When I actually posted it there had been a lull for a few hours, it was simply - a question fella's - don't stress so much
  6. It won't be that rare as GGM knocked 12"s out all over the world at the time.

  10. I was a bit abrupt there Sebastian, my apologies.
  11. I love how 'minor cover up' relates to the fact that this track is deemed nowt - for the record I think it's not worth knocking mate, thanks for posting.
  12. Mate, I'm pleased that you had enough passion to reply, making it your 11th post - I must have pushed the button surely....this board is vicious though mate, so 'check yo self' before you jump in....I've been barred on numerous occassions for much less.
  13. Btw, I hope your face is now rested and it is Gene Chandler cockertoo
  14. ha ha cool response mate
  15. I didn't say anything, I asked you your opinion....unfortunately you fell at the first hurdle....'read and undertsand the question befor you answer'
  16. that's a good thing #allnightandy
  17. This scene is and always has been poplulated by a very sophisticated musical group of movers and shakers (ha ha, I actually mean that but it sounds so shit) ....not just sixties soul lovers....
  18. ...and without it the 'Northern' scene would have been dead and buried when Wigan closed
  19. Yep Seb, we know all about how the 12" mix came about mate, we've been about long enough to realise that. The second part of your post tells me that the people that you listen to haven't got a clue. Sorry mate but tell me summat I don't know.
  20. Would someone purchase say, a 7" of Clausel over the 12" as it displays better in the box?
  21. Subjective argument really - down to preference again.
  22. I remember buying one of the boots from the upstairs record bar (for Janice) - only to be gutted as it jumped...I think a lot of 'em did.
