  1. I met up with Robin about six year back at The Sands @ Southport Weekender for a chinwag - first time I'd actually seen him since we played a gig at The Dolphin in Holborn in the nineties sometime and nearly fell off me chair - how can I put this???...he used to have a lovely thatch of hair! (not bitching, my Cadfael is coming on)
  2. Is he still Nightwatch @ the Fire Station Pete?
  3. Yep, used to to visit Dave's stall, his missus at the time Wendy was the manageress of our local BHS cafe where we used to congregate when back in Warrington after nighters - spawning our very 80's all-nighter group T-shirts - BHS BREWMASTERS
  4. Hi Aid, don't know Mike but know who Wayne is. I remember going to see Brian @ The Carlton, Sam was with him and asking for their autographs on the inside of a box of ten Regal. Bri is on @ The Northern Line in Wazza this Sat, although I keep in touch on FB I haven't seen him for years, so going to nip up and buy him a pint.
  5. It's not the June Yamigashi???/BW boot of 'Trust Your Heart' is it?
  6. James Ingram I think.
  7. Janice Thorpe - ex Wigan, Morecambe etc - a great Leigh all-nighter girl - should get a mention. There was always her and a smaller blonde girl in front of the stage at Wigan, generally dressed alike and danced in unison. Remember her stomping six months pregnant on the little dancefloor at the back of Morecambe.
  8. Brian Rae - as a lad I used to spend a lot of time in Bri's car going up and down to various nighters....it was Bri who turned me on to a lot of late 50's/early 60's soul/R&B when it wasn't de rigeur, also stuff like Robert Cray, southern stuff etc His depth of knowledge musically and scene-wise is amazing - and the stories....Oh! The Stories...
  9. You Live Only Once.
  10. Again tough, I remember this album getting laughed at by my peers back then.
  11. Haha - I've just found it - sleeves had it, split on three sides, bit rough - it's that God-awful thick cardboard nonsense they used to use but the inner notes and vinyl are spot on. Just flicked through it and can still sing 'em all.
  12. A big Wigan memory for me - loved it.
  13. He's a tad steep innee??
  14. Paid a quid for the one I got from Seeds in Birkenhead years back.
  15. At that money, I'll be digging it out - keep yer eyes to the Sales thread
  16. Jesus - I've had that for about thirty years, never knew it was worth a bob. Too Many Secrets is me fave.
  17. Orig was 'Nashville' stamped wasn't it?

  19. What are the boards thoughts on the view that the place for educating is at Soul nights with solid regulars (if a club has that policy and has regulars then surely they are good with the format) and that heads that attend Weekenders/one-offs are there to be happy and dance to stuff that majoritively they know? Steve G's post has said what I have so ignore this post.
  20. Cheap as chips old OHS play (Hoping it's the right mix, no sound here )
  21. Sister Sledge - LDYGTNCOM
  22. Can your version replace my memories? Dancefloor reality beats unplayed rarity anytime. ...and honestly, that is just an observation, not a critique.
  23. Songs such as this spoke to the teenage fatherless emotionally-inexperienced mixed up all-nighter-going speed freak in all of us. Namely me. It seems.
