  1. I've had that too. ( A bright red shiny bubbled label boot of Marie Knight - TNWTTAG)
  2. I did a few soul/modern re-edits in the mid 90's and can I just add that there's quite a bit of love and time put into them - they're not all knocked out in a night by a non-scene/soul boy who don't care or is trying to kill the soul scene.
  3. ...on SMOOTH FM tomorrow @ 2pm.
  4. Not heard that one. Anyone?

  6. Have to add that having only attended Wigan 1980/81 I never saw M's as a place that played Oldies - I couldn't due to me age - it was a little learning box for some of us. So for all the stick it gets for playing Oldies it had it's purpose in grounding us youngsters to some great Niter plays that we prob wouldn't have experienced without it.
  7. Yeah, a nice read and a full day too Somatta Acklin
  8. I kept nearly everything that passed through me hands over the years but I have to say that the jewel amongst them is me 'Chuck Jackson' signed Wigan membership.

  14. Do like the understated aesthetics of the Canadian releases too: I like Epic Demo's... Love the Atlantic A design.... I agree with the beautiful Brunswick design but I do get off on plain old title and artist labels:
  15. ...and maybe the A sides were flipped, maybe the orig B picked up the airplay and was re-pressed as the A?? Which would explain the 'wandering stars'

  21. Got booked to do a place called Ampersand in Manc (Soulful House) and had just started using a digital vinyl thingy called Traktor - wired it in after checking it worked before kick off about six times - sound. My set came round - would it work? would it heck I hurriedly ruffled through the other jocks bags looking for anything I would play - nowt. I played an hour and three quarter set with the nine 12" singles I'd took with me....remember, vinyl never fails you.
  22. True, true
  23. I've had to play on decks where the I had to play on decks with that configuration Mark, the whole set - verrry confusing after a pint or two.

  25. Winding an acapella into a playing 12", cutting the playing 12" then bringing the 'new' 12" into the acapella beat perfect all whilst a few hundred people stare at you can be difficult.
