  1. Now that is what I call a sensible post.
  2. It was all NS to me Andy, when 'You're The Light That Guides My Way' was played alongside 'The Champion' by DJ's that I trusted (don't pick that pairing apart I'm thinking on me (ale) feet).... the golaposts have been moved, everyone is now involved in their own micro-scene, be it the fact that they are the dj or their mate is - I think you get me...we all danced on a level playing field at one time...we knew where we were...not any more...everyone thinks they are one step away from yesterdays Gods. Am I sounding like my old self?
  3. ...at the end of the day...the only place you are going to hear everything you want to hear...is the night you do yourself. It's always been the state of play that you are not going to love every other persons choice....get over it...chat to your mates and dance when your Soul moves. Dead easy.
  4. You can educate any group of people by your programming ...that is outside of NS circles....the problem with NS nights nowadays is the baggage that comes along with the people these days...everything needs picking apart...it seems. Enjoy Soul Music...never once feel the need, by whatever means, to justify it to your so called Peers.

  7. Offers: this has a tight edge crack about 5mm long but only about 2mm into the grooves...you hear a slight click just before the drums kick in and then one dull one...and that's it. Overall I'd give the vinyl a VG+, great gloss, the slightest odd mark here and there but looks great. Label's real clean. Full refund if anything I have stated about the record doesn't ring true. Cheers
  8. Cheers Jimmy ...Mods???
  9. ..sorry to poke me nose in but have noticed the 'Best Answer' thingy and the fact that your Mint status reply has ...well...gone a mint colour. Never seen this before on here...what's it about?
  10. Just looking at that 'End Of An Era' poster - did it finish at 9am? Don't recall that!?
  11. ...a couple more...nice one of M's kitted out for the night ahead:
  12. Harry & Mary, me missus Ma and Da, who are now in their mid 60's met in the early 70's at Wigan - left it behind, got wed, kids, grandkids etc but Motown is still their sound at the family do's we go and they have a Wigan Casino fridge magnet up and like to hear my NS related tales - so Mary always keeps her eye out for NS bits in the papers etc - here's a pullout form the Wigan Evening Post this week. It was difficult to scan as it is a largish paper, just put in the relevant bits, I've left out the myriad photo's as you've all see em a million times: Don't shoot the messenger

    Ebay

I won a record, contacted the seller immediately and said that I needed to put money into the account to pay for it and that I will pay first thing in the morning, hope this is okay? - no reply. I paid the following morning. My feedback stated that 'after initial problem with payment buyer eventually completed sale'
  14. It's asking a lot I know what you mean but I quite happly paid £75 for Stevie Wonder so prob end up dipping in for these - but everything is just so ridiculous these days.
  15. Just checked the price of the tickets for 2013 tour... https://www.viagogo.co.uk/Concert-Tickets/R+B-Urban-Soul/Earth-Wind-and-Fire-Tickets?affiliateID=49&pcid=PSGBGOOCONEARTHD6BA0B39AF-001237&adposition=1t1 ....it's dear these days ay?
  16. This board can't half talk a good game.
  17. I have no sound here but it's not any of the Jamie Principle mixes is it?
  18. That's the thing - a lot of people think they know exactly what's going on on other scene's when they don't - there a hundreds of great, playable and relatively (to the NS Soul scene anyway) obscure edits out there - and if nothing else the fact that someone has taken the time to edit them has brought them to the attention of others = GOOD THING. Everything doesn't swing round this scene - there are raffs of other little 'scenes' doing whatever they do for their lot and feck what others say.
  19. I was talking to an old Cockney House DJ of some repute the other day and he was stating his view that as everyone is now a DJ, it is cooler not to be one these days as there are so many 'newbies' doing a poor job that it has dragged the whole 'profession' down. Someone mentioned that 'some have it and others never will'... ...to which he replied (spinning the whole point of the conversation on it's head) 'that's not the problem these days, the problem is no one on the dancefloor cares anymore!' I see his point in a way, with an ever ageing and socially developing group of scene-people attending - or not as the case may be, it's bound to head that way. I always read people talking about the 'Oldies' crowd and as Roger so lovingly called his dancefloor crowd in another thread the 'something we all know brigade'. But is the problem with the dancefloor or the dj's? Or is there a problem at all? Can we not just accept that majoritvely thathungry element of our scene has shrunk to a degree that everyone is pulling in more of the 'Oldies' or the 'SWAK Brigade' and that's now the state of play?
  20. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LINDA-JONES-I-JUST-CANT-LIVE-MY-LIFE-WARNER-BROTHERS-UK-WARPED-K16621-/310723784402?pt=UK_Records&hash=item485894aed2 "PLEASE NOTE THE SINGLE HAS A BIG WARP IN IT BUT THE VINYL IS IN GREAT CONDITION- THE SINGLE PLAYS THROUGH WELL WITH THE RIGHT WEIGHTING ON THE NEEDLE- FINE FOR DJING ." ....yeah I can imagine half way through me set trying to get the 'weighting right on the needle'
  21. The King Tutt 12" is a re-edit of the 7" mix, don't stop it going for big money.
