  1. I still like Love Hustle.
  2. I think I'd best slip back into relative obscurity again Ste
  3. Morning all.
  4. Oh dear. Looks like I had my rose-tinted Wigan Beer Goggles on again last night. Shame. I'd been so well behaved of late too.
  5. Relating to the Greg Wilson 'cosy chats' thread earlier today, Wigan is always judged by 'the footage'...I remember Wigan as it was, in the middle of a musical upheaval, punk, jazz funk and soul - tribes - and all involved to an extent....a common thread...too big a conversation for right now, I have to get to bed....but as much as you may want to dissolve any other musical group from NS, it all swang (???) round Wigan at it's death. I'll stop now, make my apologies and look through me fingers at this thread tomorrow at work ;0)
  6. Do It Frankie Do It...What A Bullet...Chartbuster....haha...ta mate x
  7. It was an awful place to have lived in Mach ay? I still smell it, feel it, love it....sometimes I swear I wake up in M's...at home that is....never miss it though, it's in me, as I know it's in you too.
  8. If you recollect the last BAAAAAA of The Phantom Janitor and the first BWWWWWAAA of OMNI, I can see that being seamless mate. :0) Genius Dickie again.
  9. I'm a Parr lad, are you mental?
  10. Apologies, I have learned over the years - thanks to varying bannings - not to do this kind of thing....but it's only music innit ay?
  11. Well in Krissi x
  12. Untouchable indeed Pete...fucking Untouchable.
  13. Why mate? Is it not correct to wear your heart on your sleeve? Does my post not encourage a well worn, yes, debate? But when I listened to Harry's Chris Bartley post it brought the whole Wigan thing rushing back to me....I was a little boy with no real Soulie mates that travelled this country buoying the numbers....numbers that meant fuck all to me at the time...it just felt good to be on that floor feeling the things I felt whilst dancing to that music. Yes, I'm not relevant today on THIS NS scene...but...and it's a big but....I was fucking relevant then...when it mattered. So....when I want to drink and post, I will. And no better forum than this ay?
  14. ...stick it up yer arse. I would hope that the only people that would reply to this would be only folk that actually attended toward the back end of Wigan.....who tended to be the people that picked up the baton and went on to spread a depleted faith to varying under attended venues up and down the UK, as well as the big hitters that we all eulogise about....we'll those of us that actually turned out that is haha. Yes, I've had a pint or two but I feel that I must express my heart felt feeling that Wigan, as ridiculed as it is or has been on here on occasion is down to people who never went near. Forget your who played what where first shit. If you weren't part of that back end of Wigan, then unfortunately for you, you'll die without knowing the true beauty of what....to me..and there's the rub....Northern Soul is..cos you can't argue with my opinion. Apologies but it needed saying. Love you all. Baz x
  15. I know no one is biting on the price but to me it is a Top 20 Wigan sound.....if I had it whatever it was I would pay it....Searling could not have done a more varied and better job than he did at Wigan at that time.....and this is me thirty years on having listened and heard everything that I have since. A singularly beautiful piece of song writing, topped off with a sublime vocal by the author, laid down in one un-better able vocal...love you for that alone my man Van. X
  16. I'd be happy with a 7"
  17. Gotta love a backing group called the Ardons
  18. What would the board say it's worth? One off acetate, big Wigan sound, top quality memory prodder.
  19. Ouch!! There was a great crowd in there towards the back end that were hungry for new material, be it slow, fast, odd or Modern - so as much as I'll always love Richard for what he did and what he did it with - I'll also lay plaudits to the crowd at the time too for taking 'em onboard and making them the floor-fillers they were.
  20. ...way of the world now when creating your own history
