  1. I spent a good deal of time with Sam when he was over for these varying events, a lovely man and some of the tales he span from bitd were an eye opener. Has anyone any news about him of late?
  2. I was round his last for the World Cup, still see him at the Weekenders and my sporadic trips up to Newcastle and Durham - he's fine.
  3. Thank you Jerry.
  4. Got Me Groovin' - Sharon is Mark Mendoza's ex missus (Phuture Sole Recordings) - he's the guy on the right of my blog photograph.
  5. Lovely that.
  6. Bottom line is fella, you would be stark, staring mad to do it - especially with no experience.
  7. Good stuff young man - do us a favour and give me a reminder that week wouyld you Sean?
  8. It's always the overheads that will kill you mate - keep them down and you may have a shout but otherwise it's a rocky road. these days.
  9. Done!! (You have been )
  10. Proper mate - I mean I wouldn't expect to make a decent living at it. With all the best will in the world, I'd think long and hard about it.
  11. Well I'll have to have a bloody good go then Sean. Your round?
  12. Thanks Lars.
  13. Busy as ever I see. The site link is www.onhubertstreet.co.uk ...thanks. I'll see if I can persuade t'wife for the April do - if not, I'm making a concerted effort to get my arse back in gear as a punter on the soul scene again. I miss it.
  14. Aye, good memories fella, great tro hear from you. I do a bar in Stockton Heath in Warrington on Thursdays - Soulful House and on Sundays - Northern, Soul, Funk, Disco etc...and a bar in Warrington town after midnight on Saturday's. I still run the 'On Hubert Street' events up here, which is a domain for old soulies that felt the house vibe , I would normally be doing one in April but I've just moved house and I'm a bit all over the place at the mo mate. How you and where you attending?
  15. Was a Warrington Parr Hall regular spin too.
  16. I've no problem with you re-visiting it Pete, it was intersting to hear some of the half baked and near genius 'solutions' people came up with.
  17. There was a topic on this site about this two or three years back - some weird and wonderful suggestions too.
  18. I took a dint out of an acetate with an hammer.
  19. I ran Hott Waxx for 19 years, closing around 6 months ago. Open a shop in todays environment and expect to be broke and owing within 6 months mate. Sorry.
  20. Any sooulful house thread must make some note on Ed Goltsmans 'Bottom Line' Records... Tammy Banks - 'My Life' Passion In Fashion - 'You Make Me Wanna Make Love' Ed The Red & Barbara Dixon - 'It's Alright' and many more.
  21. Thanks for that.
  22. Aye, his 'Higher' release on SR blue is great vocally too.
  23. Yep, some great stuff on Emotive but not a buy blind label for the Soulies, there was a lot of straight up house on there too.
  24. I posted that list on the Z Board (Dave Lee's) and one of the Belgian lads on there spotted 'FTSB' on the list. It turns out he was a friend of the son of the bloke who released it. He apparently isn't as involved with music as he was but was pleased if not a little bewildered to see his record had been played in a UK club.
  25. Eloise Laws & J.J. Caillier required for my mate Deano - anyone?
