  1. ...and I don't blame him.
  2. Having been very pissed this evening and having a moment of very occassional clarity - ha ha I think in one hearing (the mate that was participating in this experiment is now asleep btw), I have been on the good side of an epiphany re the 3 before 8 this evening Tobi legend - Mortality and the loss of your Mother Jimmy Radcliffe = Your first love Dean Parrish - Moving on in life So to me the 3B8 encompasses your mother, your bird and yourself - it was never not going to burn a memory into your soul, was it? Ha ha
  3. Wasn't Johnny Bragg in for multiple rape - or was that one of my urban myths? Kind of puts an ironic edge on 'They're Talking About Me' if so. There is such a beauty to black America when it comes to music. I'm glad I am not a black American if only for the reason that if I were, I would not have the splendour of black America in my life. OK I'll go to bed.
  4. Do you know where the term T-Total comes from? Go on, it's worth it.
  5. I can't argue with that, as you say each to their own.
  6. On reflection I was building myself up for a fall with such a lengthy post you, as I should have expected, answered it in two sentences. I'll not stick me oar into this thread again. ta.
  7. Steve, don't take my post the wrong way mate - I do find the whole thread a work of genius and in no way do I see you in any other way than a passionate Soulie, there should be more threads like this. (I will take payments not to get involved btw)
  8. Ian. Could I ask a question, with the greatest respect that is, I'm in no way taking the piss here - I can be read two ways at times. I'm not buttering your arse here as I have always accepted your position as regards where I, and every fecker else here stands, thanks to the polarised effort you put into the discovery of new tracks bitd. Yes, I have sat and listened to conversations over the years where you and your input have been berated - these were generally conversations made by weekend Soulies, given - and to temper this post somewhat may I add that there have been moments in your production career that I too have questioned - but who am I and who where the weekend Soulies? You have made a difference one way or the other, no argument. Anyway, now I've laid myself open to possible negativity, given the fact that you have been to some extent exiled from the 'street level' NS scene - are you fuelled by a need to be accepted on this scene? I think I know the answer but it would be good to see your views on paper as it were. Has the way your name has generally been bandied about on this scene took it's toll? Again, I think I know the answer. I do find it amusing that certain productions of yours have come to the fore after the expected baptism of fire. Again, how much of what you do is influenced by todays NS scene (a very different one to the one that originally bore the name)? It strikes me that you aren't that arsed by the negativity, as you have always had your finger in somewhere along the line - but - is any of it these days down to acceptance, or just the love? I'm pissed by the way but the above was made in the utmost sincerity.
  9. THAT! Is by far the funniest reply I have read on this forum . I have at one point in this whole sorry (but funny, I'm laughing here, not moaning) thread asked if anyone was actually reading anything that I wrote about this subject, as the conversations seemed to go on disregarding the information I had quoted on many separate occassions. Said in a Father Dougal accent: "Ted - I'm goin' mad!" IT WAS A FUCKING SCOTTISH FLAG - not part tartan, lemon, turquoise or magenta - just a scottish flag. I don't know if they liked kilns or knives or clogs or whatever. Could the quiet majority please pipe up and settle my mind? My main career in life was as a Psychiatric Assessment Officer - after this task of a thread I now know how the lads I assessed felt. Anyway, this a thread to be cherished, I thank you all for your input. I'll speak to Richard about this and square it up once and for all. (Btw does Sam still live in that small Welsh town? His phone number in the late 80's was summat like Builth Wells 593 - a three digit phone number???) The strange world of Welsh teachers.
  10. You can't be serious Dawn...really? Fair do's love, we ain't all the same. But how can it be pants? The same direction, same mindset as what I would expect your true musical love to be- just a black band playing soul music.
  11. I've just re-read that and I apologise for the terrible grammar within - but I'm pissed and I hope you get my drift.
  12. Following on from a very entertaining thread elsewhere on this board, could you ever see in todays scene a moment, in our adulthood, whereby a moment would occur - anywhere - that a group of people would show the passion/disrespect of dropping a banner at a showpiece all nighter? I love the passion behind the action and also it says so much about how deep that passion ran at the time but in retrospect it was such a naive action in some respects. Was it? Who can deny Searlings (for sake of argument, Sam's) credentials? You can't - in retrospect. This naive and somewhat misguided expression of feeling was what made this scene stand out from others - the first PUNK-NORTHERN post expressionistic movement. Anarchy outside Ince. Keep The Faith!
  13. Hadn't we substantiated that it couldn't have been aimed at Sam? Do you know who placed the banner? If so, everything I remember, which one person has substantiated, is bobbins - as your version of events must be true. It could have been one of me 'Sodies' nights given and if I'm wrong, I'm wrong - but pleeeease tell me the truth.
  14. And as for the positioning of the banner, in my memory it was at least 8-10 feet away from a position where anyone from the stage could have removed it - fair do's I could have fecked off to M's and in the meantime you/whoever could have shuffled it along, nearer the stage, whereby said person could have been in a position to drag it down....Christ, I feel like Columbo.....this version of vents don't ring true, for my recollections anyway. Apologies if I'm wrong, and I could be - I'm man enough to accept it.
  15. I'm contesting that explanation Steve, If so why did Richard say "The only good thing about that banner is that it is in Spurs colours!" (blue & white) - unless Spurs had a tartan away kit that is. Now I maybe wrong but as my memory serves me - the flag/banner was a blue backround with a white x/cross on it (in my memory that is) with the lettering over the top. Am I wrong?
  16. Now I know I'm probably way behind on this group but I've had me socks blown off by them by me (indie bred) mate over the last few months. If This Ain't Love and The Soul Investigators Theme have sent me searching for this nouveau/retro sound which seems to be, on investigation, EVERYWHERE!
  17. Oooh closet Blockhead - well in lad. Love TV - sits in my memory banks alongside Derek & Ray, Doris Troy, Paula Parfitt, Michael McDonald, The Ad Libs, Paula Durante, Paul Anka, The Righteous Bros, Peggy March etc etc - a schoolboy with a hidden cache of tracks that the other kids neither knew or understood. Just been reading that Teddy was co-writer on Vandross' 'Power Of Love' album too.
  18. On the back of that, Williams and Watson - "I don't need no woman to help me starve to death!"
  19. Could I have been in M's Steve, as I can't remember - pray tell mate.
  20. Chuck Jackson - 'Talk A Little Less'....not very nice at all.
  21. No mate, nowt to do with the post, I just have no idea where I am?
  22. Have fun.
