  1. No, but it shakes it's head and explodes if you play Coffee's - 'Casanova'.
  2. I remember having an LP ('Modern Times' was it?) at the time with it on, it'll be about somewhere, it was a cracking comp. Anyone have a track-listing?
  3. I won the rarer 'Nodding Russ' as it happens.
  4. Just been flicking through the threads and been transported back to Rotherham sometime upon hearing this beautiful slab of jazzy, summery soul - and now I want it - how much should I be expecting to part with?
  5. The Nodding Buster Tombola topped off the full Northern surrealism of it all. Genius.
  6. While Stockport has got a mention: https://stockport-soul-clothing.webeden.co.uk/
  7. You see I loved the fcs and pastie look - that was a soulie bird to me.
  8. I keep reading posts tinged with embarassment and apology!? Why? You know what you are, where you're from, how deep it runs - don't you? Who exactly are you worried about? Paul O'Grady's target audience maybe (which it appears is a great deal of this board)?
  9. It's called 'irony' Cunnie. And I'm sticking with No.2 son. (No.2's have always been close to my heart)
  10. In a documentary maybe, this was The Paul O'Grady Show.
  11. Again, apologies if this is a repeat post but isn't this just an odd idea? https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UNUSUAL-CD-of-AMAZING-Northern-Soul-LABELS-DONT-EXIST_W0QQitemZ110293326186QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item110293326186&_trkparms=72%3A1297%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
  12. That's a bit negative innit mate?
  13. Check it out, it's lifted my head up and pointed it telly side all week.
  14. Well bugger me, you live and learn.
  15. How much would I pay for the 'That's When I need You' boot these days?: It was possibly my first purchase (three for a quid) at an all nighter and has since, as they do, disappeared. (Sorry for hi jacking your thread mate)
  16. I didn't realise Alfie was from Stockport.
  17. It's NYC street talk for 'I agree with your view'!
  18. WORD!!
  19. That's all very good, but me Mam loved it.
  20. Has anyone else noticed the music on the adverts for 'Sunshine'? The first three guitar notes as the clip starts are the exact opening guitar notes of Alfie Davidson's 'LISB'.
  21. A perfect SS thread to POG's reminiscences. It could not have been done in any other manner than the manner within which it was done, surely you must be able to see that? If you were embarrassed by it, then you're not cut of the right cloth yet, if you felt that you were being portrayed as uncool, then you probably are. I actually think it was quite a ground-breaking piece given the studio audience, demographic etc. Me Mam text me, as she had to put up with my addled state after Wigan - and she loved it. Which surely, was the point.
  22. I do apologise if this is a repeat thread, as I know some of you have missed my late night rants of late - but - was reading an interview with the ex dustman last week in one of the Sunday supplements regarding his film career roles... This film is starting to take on a new look for me now. I went watching The FLC at The Parr Hall in Warrington in the late 90s and they are a very soulful outfit, and I must say the casting director may have hit the nail on the head utilising this wideboy within the film. Again, if I'm late on this, I aplogise and please ignore my post - and whatever you do, don't use it to pillory me.
  23. An enjoyable thread and a moment in time well nailed.
