HI ALL, I was lucky enough to get a good and complete set from Amazon last week. Not an anorack so did not look at the depth of the groove, label quality etc.etc. Happy and content that all play well and privelidged to have such great sounds on vinyl(including Frank Wilson). Really feel for everyone who has recieved their sets with missing records or duplicates. Maybe the moderators can help out here by getting going a thread on trades for those that need to exchange/swop their duplicate copies. regards ROY

HI, I have bought five pairs of these to date. Three leather soles and two goodyear welted sole. I find them comfortable, watertight and to date wearing well. I would say they are decent shoes for the money you pay and therefore value for money. I have to say though i have not had the opportunity to take them to pieces just yet lol ROY

Who gives a flying f"ck anyway. There will be very few people on here who cam even consider being able to afford to bid on this ROY

HI STEVE, You went so whats your estimation of that magical place. But please remember the fact that you think the Leeds Central holds 400 lol. Based on what i remember of the place, at that time where nearly every one in attendance was about 9 stone wet through, i would put the figure about 800 to 1000. That would probably give you a personal dance area of about 1metre, sorry yard, square bot you would end up giving out about 30 plus apologies during the night for bumping into fellow dancers . regards ROY

Going Out Just Can Be Arsed With It Anymore To Many Do's On
SOULCENTRAL replied to a topic in All About the SOUL
HI CUNNIE, You have been around long enough to realise that the number of events has grown to stupid levels compared to say five years ago!. Add to this the decreasing numbers of punters pro rata for the number of events on and hey presto....half empty venues. Agree regarding the people that want to squeeze every last penny from the scene and the quality of their events is going downhill rapidly. ROY -

HI ADY. Did you know he is releasing a record today to celebrate his 80th?. Not the usual Tommy Hunt style but something of a rap orientated offering. Available on download from CD Baby. Had a get together with the man himself and Mandy with Pete Meadows and family on saturday to celebrate both their birthdays and he is still pretty sharp and loving song writing with the occasional performances during the year. HI FLYNNY, Think you may have got the above statement wrong! Most collectors would keep pint in hand and resort to the customery chin stroke rather than jump on the dancefloor-lol. Roy -
The single in question was originally sold for £10 although when it got downn to around 10 copies left some sold for £15/20 but i believe this was down to the willingness of the people buying the record to give a little more to charity. regards ROY

HI COL, What many of the posts allude to is country wide and not just applicable to the north east. The forward thinking element of dj's unfortunately will always be in the minority and least supported at venues basically because of the fact that people when they attend a "soulnite" just wish to socialise and dance the night awayas opposed to listening to unknown sounds and having the occasional flurry on the dance floor. As for blaming the old soulies who have been absent from the scene for years and just returning, although some truth in this, its a bit of a cop out. I myself came back from family commitments some fifteen years ago and was happy to return to records being played that were familiar to me and some that were not. It was a great comfort zone at the time. I visited some of the rare and underplayed nights/nighters and was dismayed at some of the stuff that was offered up as quality soul music. Although i personally have moved on, and now attend underplayed/70's and crossover venues. There are still a lot of venues around the country and so called top dj's that play a load of dross and offer it up as quality soul music.I believe this is what deters an increase in numbers at the smaller venues, thats playing an alternative choice in music to the top 500 venues. If you have an open mind you will always tap your feet to some of the northern classics and likewise will enjoy venues like the Horse and Groom-Doncaster, Carlton Club-Leeds,Taste of Honey-Manchester and Cricket Club at Bishop etc. At the smaller venues the one thing you will always get is variety, passion and a love of good soul music. The debate goes on and on and on................. regards roy

I know this topic has been touched on before, particularly in relation to night do's and weekend events, but i have just looked on the events page for the end of the month. WTF! HOW MANY EVENTS DO WE NEED OVER THE EASTER WEEKEND. At one time there was only about 4 events maximum on any given sunday in each month but the 31st of March takes the piss for so called promotors jumping on the sunday soul bandwaggon. Do we honestly need this amount of events vying for the limited amount of people who do venture out on a sunday?. ROY

HI STEVE, If that does become the case will we see two kids- one in each leg?. :D
