Was played off the original Stevie Wonder - Uptight album back in the late 60's, never released as a single in UK/USA at that time as far as I am aware. Played it a couple of years ago in Scunthorpe and the response was great by those never heard before, and those not for a long time.

Can remember Pep playing it at The Winter Gardens and this was the first time I had heard it played, although it could easily have been played elsewhere.

I still have the Valentino version on Gaiee with the red printed sleeve and used to have a 12" version by Carl Bean on US Motown. The Valentino version was played at Cleethorpes in the mid 70's assuming as a new release. Steve

I taped a good few as well but together with my Mecca, Wigan, and many Cleethorpes tapes got slung in the dustbin many years ago when no longer having a tape player at home or in the car. . Now have an Hi-Fi with cassette player. Steve

Was featured as a new release on Robbie Vincents Radio 1 Soul Show in 1977 and I got the shortened version on Kudo 7 Inch. Used to listen Robbie every Saturday night in those days and was hearing some brilliant new US releases at that time.

Lots of fave singers, many already mentioned as expected, but to pick only 2 all time faves it would be BOBBY WOMACK and MILLIE JACKSON Steve

Mine arrived today but only had a chance to play a couple of tracks so far - New York City - I'm Doing Fine Now- being one and worth the money alone.. Looks like another brilliant compiliation MR D.and quite rightly deserves to be in the Top 40 Steve

Saw the documentary last night Paul, and having enjoyed it that much will watch again. I have eleven vinyl albums mostly bought on release or soon after, Resurrection (Underated ) on casette, and numerous CD's. I do hope new and younger fans delve into his wonderful back catalogue, a good start would be the compilation - Essential Bobby Womack - The Last Great Soul Man. In the very early seventies I bought many new release's on the basis of reviews in Blues and Soul, Womack, O'Jays, Spinners, Harold Melvin, Chi Lites, Stylistics, Bill Withers,early EWF, Invictus, Hot Wax , just to name a few. Forty years on and I am still discovering new stuff by many of the same artists and get that same thrill. Can't Stop A Man In Love off the brilliant Fact's Of Life album was also done as we all know by Reuben Howell. I think both were 1973 but is Bobby's version the original ? Steve

Same here Paul. I knew of Bobby prior to 1972, but listening Harry Hippie that year prompted me to buy the album Understanding and I have been an avid collector ever since. A lot of people may have missed his 70's output due to the Northern Boom and others only familiar via his Northern/ Modern sides, but for me he has been one of the greatest soul singers of all time and The Bravest Man In The Universe is giving him the acclaim he so richly deserves. Picked up Danny White and a Theola Kilgore record both on Sue from a bargain shop 1970 or slightly earlier. I choose these on the strength of other Sue releases played in Scunthorpe at the time. When played, I thought they were crap and threw them in the dustbin. Steve

From first hearing it at the Mecca to even now the intro to The Carstairs - It Really Hurts Me Girl Others include Jackie Lee - Oh My Darlin and Jerry Williams - If You Ask Me , but there are many more that have stood the hairs up over the years , but not so many (hairs) to go at now. Steve

I saw most of the program last night and I was his Manchester Apollo concert which i think was 1976. I cannot remember if the female singer was the same but one of the highlights for me at Manchester was the duets of his Tammi Terrell songs. Seen some concerts over the years but that one rates as one of the very best I've been to. Steve

I bought Ask Me What you Want on holiday in Lloret De Mar in 1972, not really knowing anything about Millie. I was completely knocked out by the B side I Just Can't Stand it. From then I purchased virtually all her albums up to and including her Country one and the one with Isaac Hayes and saw her twice at the Manchester Apollo. Would have liked to have seen If You're Not Back In Love By Monday and Summer( The First Time ) included, but like Dave and Jaco say, this is a must buy with not a dud track. Well done Ady and Sean . Uptight - Stevie Wonder - Bought at the time for Love A Go GO and I Want My Baby Back both big at my local Soul Night Soul Master - Edwin Starr - I dare say my all time fave Motown LP Motown Memories Volumes 1 and 2 After The Goldrush - Neil Young - College mates got me into CSNY and still a huge Neil fan Tumbleweed Connection - Elton John - First and last EJ LP I ever bought but really rated this. Also purchased other Soul, Non Soul albums but these were the ones I always played. That was until Bobby Womack ( Understanding ) and Millie Jackson (Caught Up ) came out. Steve

Brilliant record, surprised it has not made the Top 500 Books ( Unless in the newest one ). Maybe not had the dancefloor reaction it richly deserves at the venues used for compiling. Steve
