Just to note that Banbury has its own distinct areas of deprivation, though not perhaps an overall statement applying to the town as a whole.
3 of the electoral wards are assessed as being in the highest 10% of deprived areas in the whole country. Like parts of Oxford, London, and lots of places around the country, these can sit by side with wealthier areas, and even within those wards there will be plenty of people who might be surprised to be described as 'deprived'.
I don't mean to say this to take away from the difficulties of Easington (oddly enough the name of one of the other electoral wards in Banbury!), but just to say that while Banbury is a great place and has a successful soul club about to hit the 10th anniversary, it's not the image of leafy rich Oxfordshire and Cotswolds that some might think.
Good work from Julie at Saturday's event, looked like it could go either way and things did seem to settle down. Seems that a polite word works wonders at various evenings.
