    Many thanks Bob, my copy at home opens fine so maybe there was a glitch when I uploaded it, although all seemed ok at the time. As long as people have got access to versions that will open then that's what the thread's about. Hopefully the other issues will work ok, best Sean

    This may have been on TV before, but just in case you want to watch it this evening (Friday 12th June 15), it's on BBC4 at 9pm, then followed by 'Classic Soul at the BBC' at 11pm.

    This will be it for me on uploading Shades of Soul (issues 8, 9 and 10), as Bob has kindly offered to upload the rest which he has already scanned.     Pete I think you should be incredibly proud, as with all of the others who took the initiative to produce these magazines. I never knew much in the first place, and despite the many years and magazines, books and records I've bought in the time, can't say I'm any the wiser now. You may think you've forgotten a lot, but I'll bet that you still remember/konw way more than most of us could ever hope to! Hope you give Bob permission to publish more once you've checked them over.....

    Looks great Bob - thanks for this! I had collected Blackbeat and Shades of Soul and moved onto Voices from the Shadows, and hadn't really explored all of the others. Look forward to reading this. Sean

    Soul Bowl was definitely one of the top quality soul packs that I bought. Black Knight was another, and I got several others before Soul Bowl, including one that was pretty much all boots. In those early days (mid/late 70's I suppose) I preferred that as I was trying to get hold of records I really liked but didn't really know what was what (not sure I'm any the wiser now). I wrote about them in Shades of Soul back in the '80s and I've posted copies of issues from 1 to 7 so far on a few threads in 'All About the Soul'. The relevant articles looking at what was in the specific pack at the time are in issues 3 and 5.

    Thought I'd round off the Bank Holiday weekend with a further 3 issues, especially now that Mike's been good enough to raise the upload limit for files so that I can use the scans I'd already done rather than the lower quality ones (and thanks to Chalky for the encouragement and to Derek for permission): Shades of Soul issue 5 August 1985.pdf
