  1. Arrived today. Both sides sound great. Sam's voiceover towards the end of 'What's it gonna be' comes in rather loudly and then the whole track fades out to end, but it doesn't detract from a superb tune (well, two of course) from a masterful lyricist and singer.
  2. Yep just gone for this too. Top drawer artist.

  4. The young guy dancing featured in the early part of the clip is Jason Katterhorn I believe. Often attends the Banbury Soul nights too. A very good dancer who happily dances to classic stompers and 'old school modern' through to tracks like this and pretty much everything in between. Good attitude. Although I'd find this pace tough to dance to nowadays for any sustained period, this clip does make me feel I need to go back to Rugby after a very long absence!
  5. Thanks for this Scotters - Juno are showing it as coming soon so will aim for that.

  7. I used to swap tapes with Dave Hitch in the 80s - that man seemed to get hold of an endless supply of tracks that struck me as excellent quality soul, all to the best of my knowledge new stuff he was buying week after week. With regard to new releases now, as Winford mentions, Timmion are releasing very good stuff, Colemine too, and Kimberlite. There's also of course the thread on New Releases in the All About The Soul section of this website.
  8. Radio 4 Front Row about to cover Marvin Gaye's "You're the Man" album. Thursday 4th April 7.15pm.

  10. Arrived today - once again very nicely packaged and a great single. 'Garden of Love' is the track for me. Thanks Alex.

  14. Sounds like There's Gonna be a Showdown.
  15. 2 great examples of lyrics that always caught my ear! I've been trying to remember a few more in a similar vein and will post as soon as the old brain kicks in...
  16. I'm sure we've all missed out on great records when they were released over the years, for all sorts of reasons. Much as I think this track is excellent - for those who missed it on vinyl, take heart from all the comments about the download, the posting on YouTube, Expansion LP if still available. Compared to the days of tape-swapping, things are radically different. Listening to the music is the big thing, ideally via any format that means the artists get their due.
  17. Sounds very good Alex - thanks for posting this.
