  4. It got an Italian Roulette release as well, I believe. Under the name of Al Foster.
  5. Quite a lot of US 12"s were promo only and therefore shit rare. Norman Connors - Been There and Denise Lasalle - I'm So Hot, being a couple.
  6. Nice one, Mark...I even remember Colin starting off with Southside Movement...bit strange when I can't remember what I went to the shops for these days :-)
  7. Colin Curtis played the first one. I remember because he followed me. Ian Palmer was on the bill too.
  8. The ebay seller is Turkish, living in Germany. Vasillis is his name. He's been around for years and always had big ticket boogie/disco/hip hop items. And got top money for them. As far as I know he is a fairly honest seller, albeit a bit fast and loose with grading. Unless he's decided to cash in and do a moonlight flit, he's been around too long to take a chance on scamming people. Maybe the discogs seller is a bootleg trying to cash in on his rep.
  9. Always blame the middles...nothing to do with the gallon of Peroni you supped ;-)
  10. Put the record on first and the middle after. Reverse, to take off. Barry, Barry, Barry, :-)

  13. I think the people behind the band were doing the official reissue. Apparently they're not best pleased about this.
  14. Paul. I'll have the San Antonio's Horizon, and Mike Jemison. I've PMed you.
  15. Some more shows added Mike, I'm not sure. It was being broadcast via Soul Source radio. How I don't know. Richard
  16. I've tried upoloading some shows to Podomatic. At present last Saturdays Stompradio show and The House FM Disco Special (23-11-09) are available. Link to site: https://saturdaydiscoexpress.podomatic.com Should be adding some more soon Thanks Richard
  17. By the way it's a Flares nightclub now. I would love to see some photographs of the old place. I believe there is a video that was taken downstairs. I'll try to get hold of a copy of it.
  18. Ali and Paul (Snoz) were from Barnsley. I think they're still together but don't go out now. I've not seen either of them since Bradford shut in early '92. I only missed a couple in 3 years. I used to DJ at Drummonds for Jon Buck and if it clashed with Bradford, would do an early set and leave London about 12.30 and get there at around 3-4 in the morning. Quite a funny story. One night at Drummonds my friend Johnny and I only had about a tenner between us and had decided to give the Queen's Hall a miss that weekend. After a couple of minutes we knew that was not going to happen so we tried to think of a way to raise the funds to get there. We got chatting to someone who had a couple of beers in him and he told us he wanted to go. When we told him we didn't have enough money, "Don't worry" says he, "I'll pay your petrol there and back" Job done we thought. Bundled into the car about 1 o'clock, filled it with petrol and set off. Matey promptly falls asleep in the back of the car. We turned up after, shall we say, a rapid drive up at about 4ish. If I remember all the cars parked on a bit of waste ground across the road and to the right of The Queens Hall. We've left our new friend asleep in the back of the car and shot across to the 'nighter. Told the girls on the door that we'd been in all night and had just popped out to the car, so got in freemans. Came out at 8 in the morning, woke our new pal up who says, "Are we there yet?" "Yes pal, been and gone, you missed a great night" A bit of a frosty drive home. Never seen him since. Hi to Phil and Alison Are you coming across to Barry's night on the 28th December? Should be a good un.
  19. Ok. Thanks for your reply. Is the original still rare or have they turned up in numbers?
  20. Am I correct in thinking that the first press on HGEI has a hard edge to the lable and the reissue has a moulded edge? Thanks Richard
  21. Ha Ha. Still play that now and again hoping it will suddenly sound good (it doesn't, by the way)
  22. Mid air turns up on ebay every now and then Scarbrough on a 12" is silly hard. If you find 2 copies let me know TC James I take it you want the Walter Gibbons Mix. I know someone in the States had a few copies on ebay. Buy it now at stupid prices but auctions them now and again and goes for about 300. I'll see if i can dig out the seller ID. See you in the Sands on Thursday Richard
  23. There is an argument that adding mass to the headshell will improve it's holding qualities. However remember to readjust the counterweight. On a technics deck set the anti-skate to 0 and wind the counterweight back until the arm floats. Set the black dial to 0 and then wind the weight forward to the desired tracking weight (this will be on the cart instructions or generally 3 - 3.5 g is sufficient). Then reset the anti-skate,1.5 to 2 is about right. Just adding extra tracking force to the needle will distort the sound and possibly cause damage to your vinyl. Also make sure that the cart is straight in the headshell and the stylus is in the correct position (you can download templates from the internet for this). I always carry a set of headshells already set up that I use when playing out. As for warps there is not much you can do. Try leaving a pile of books on top of the record, that might help and won't cause any damage. I wouldn't do anything else such as heat unless the record is cheap and can be replaced. Hope this helps (prob not) Richard

  25. Open a Paypal dispute straight away. (You have 45 days from the date of purchase). If you hear nothing after a week escalate it to a claim. Paypal should refund your money (inc P&P). I've done it a couple of times. How's things anyway Dave? Richard
