  2. Let's choose our Northernsoul national Anthem You can choose anything you want but you have to tell us why. My top sound that I can play on a loop is "Rare pleasure" - let me down easy I love the fact that its British, it's a great dancer and yet slightly melancholy, the lyrics are simple yet there is a real story and a feeling of pain and hurt. A disco, dance beat drives me to the wildest dance and I love the horns that make this a rare stand alone track. I can hear it every day and yet still marvel in its composition as a master piece of strings, clip clop percussion and soaring but understated vocals. It is a far removed from The Snake or do I love you blah de bleedin blah, its never gonna be found in the divies box but I tell ya that I love this record.
  3. Kev can I urge you not to do this please! During the last Stoke one of the ladies I was talking to burst into flames and I was left looking at a pile of Vampire dust, lucky escape!
  4. I can see this as a top opportunity for budding collectors n DJ's to show their stuff, be great to see some of our South Yorkshire youngsters giving it a bash. I'd like to see some of our lady DJ's give it a go, some amazing sounds being spun by some very passionate and well informed people. Excellent opportunity all round here for the Northernsoul community to show support and encouragement, and maybe hear one or two good sounds.

  7. The Snake makes my face contort! I don't think I have hated another record so much! However, Al Wilson's ` Show And Tell` makes me drift off to a drifty offy place
  8. Northernsoul that makes ya face screw up When ever I hear the brass going mental radio rental on Jerry Cook - I Hurt On The Other Side I screw my face up lifted and driven by that mad brass, you just know they were well into it hitting that rift! Mega! What makes your face screw up?
  9. My missus said she wants me to take her up the oxo tower
  10. Ady, what are the toilets like? Mace recons they is well mingin?
  11. So when we get to the twin towers of Wembley can we see that Gherkin building and if so how far are we from there, can we walk? I have to ask as Sheila has had an operation on her Lisk and I don't think it fair her carrying all our stuff too far? Will it be ok to leave a dog in the car? I have to ask as we have an important race later on Sunday afternoon, mind you the dog is to fight a badger on Friday night so it will all depend on the Veterinary, if he is sober the stitching usually takes, Badgers can be so cruel! Ady do you want us to bring any badgers mate? I know you have foxes n stuff up in the smoke but our badgers fight for their lives and make a top day out for the kids. Any way back to directions, if we follow the river, will this take us to the Gherkin? I am keen to see this as Sheila rekons it looks like a giant Hampton? Can you also put our minds at rest on the early morning caf, one of the lads is saying that he was charged ₤1:70 for a full English!!!!!!! Plus he said the coffee tasted funny and it was all just froth!!!!!
  12. The South Yorkshire Soul Searchers are coming oop fumpt tarn by car, Ady can you recommend where to park please?

  14. There was loads of Imber stuff out there in the late eighties, welly's, dungarees, and the occasional Imber Cap. I think they are quite collectable now days and pop up from time to time on e-bay
  15. Great post, nice to see some real soul, made me feel good, thanks.

  17. Request for David Woolley's phone number I am desperate to contact David Woolley. Does any one have his number?
  18. Moloko - Familiar Feeling Mega pop vid, some great research but a few mistakes? In the vid our heroine R³isn Murphy, is polishing a pair of shoes, how fookin big are they! They look a size 14! Also in the vid we see R³isn sat on the bog putting on her lippy and generally passing the time whilst singing into the camera, I'd like to see her do that a say Bidds!!! She'd fookin pass out!
  19. I think it sound ace. Love it!!!
  20. Mace, I totally 100% agree with you mate. I don't think there are many Nighters who clash and if they do the impact is negligible. The Soul Nights are another matter and it is here that an agreed, gentlemanly, sensible, respectful method of operating is needed to stop these destructive patterns. I invite any Soul night promoter to sign up or at least agree in principle to put the punter first.
  21. I think there are some great promoters out there with real passion for the scene who are driven by the music. Would any promoter agree to sign up for some think like this?
  22. I honestly don't think there is any thing wrong with The Allnighter Scene, we have superb Allnighters such as Lifeline, Bidds, The 100 Club, Keele, Stoke, and Barnsley, and there are other mega nighters on a very small list. I think there is an oversubscription on the Soul Night Scene.
  23. How about two soul source "threads", one for nighters one for soul nights, the promoters can go on there and pledge that they are dedicated to the scene and that they will not promote venues that clash within a ten mile radius. This way the promoter has "signed" up. It would then be up to the punter to support those listed. This way it would be silent with no silly committees and no finger pointing. The "guild" system used by tradesmen is ancient and a good marker peg but it remains a choice giving the customer the ultimate freedom yet providing a high bar for tradesmen to aim for.
  24. The Northernsoul Guild The Northernsoul Guild is a list of promoters who have promised to put the punters first and agree to avoid venue dates clashing in local areas. Local areas are defined as a ten mile radius. The Northernsoul Guild is a purely voluntary list of promoters, any one showing The Northernsoul Guild badge of approval should feel proud that The Northernsoul fraternity is supporting their venue. ........................... Would some thing like this fly?
