  1. I think the luxury, ltd edition type vinyl market has done more harm than good, its actually killed vinyl off as a real 'working' format, along with the Dance music DJ scene going digital. As late as 2008 HMV and Virgin still had record decks and I uses to go in every Monday and listen to the new 45s, which were usually priced 99p -£1.99 in the first week of release and I'd end up buying at least 5 or 6 of them. These days a new 45 costs probably £4 or £5 or maybe more which is just a stupid price. I'm not into much current music but if I was, I wouldn't be able to afford it on vinyl.
  2. It's increasing because of its rebranding as a luxury item, however vinyl sales really are tiny compared with the past. Something like 1 million worldwide vinyl sales last year, when you consider some hit vinyl 45s might have sold a million copies on their own.

  6. Bit of advice you should maybe rethink question 3 because all but the most casual or youngest collectors, or those who have sold most of their collection will have more than 200 records.
  7. Some interesting opinions on which pressing is the boot here: https://www.g45central.com/oldforum/viewtopic.php?t=2040&sid=16b5ae474a54ad1368b47563582ee41e
  8. Seeing as the record is so important / valuable Manship should have at least got the song title correct in his listing.
  9. Look... it just looks like a shit film, end of story...I know people will be interested because it's Northern Soul, but even that, what a TERRIBLE name for a film, how about Punk - The Movie or Psychedelia - The Motion Picture - how stupid do they sound as film titles? Well 'Northern Soul The Movie sounds exactly the same. I just watched the trailer and really have no idea what the film is about - ie what is the plot, what might happen to the characters, why is this interesting etc, it's not enough that there's northern soul music and folk dancing about everywhere, sorry. The trailer has completely failed to fulfil it's purpose, no one outside of the Northern Soul scene will be remotely interested in this because the trailer makes the film look shit, it could just be an hour and a half of dancing with a car chase in the middle for all anyone can tell. To clarify, I've not seen it, I'm just saying that the trailer makes it look shit, the previous trailer was just as bad and Northen Soul the Movie is a stupid name for a film. It might be great.
  10. An issue of John's Children - Mid Summer Night's Scene or the Colour Gatefold of Dark Round the Edges by The Dark
  11. Must be honest and say it looks like one of those shops full of crap records, - based on the records you can see on display. Typical charity shop selection. If there was anything good it's probably been picked over before.
  12. the postman attempted delivery to the wrong house or your red slip got lost. The item was sent tracked, Royal Mail only keep these at the local office for a week or two before returning. If its not turned up back at the shop yet check with your local sorting office as they are sometimes slower than they say at sending them back
  13. Keep On Keeping On I guess?
  14. Don't see how this is a new thing...back in the 70s you might have the original, the boot and the disco demand / grapevine
  15. I have pretty much lost interest in it - I still buy records but just to sell on at a profit. Now I have a daughter it's an easy question - do I want that pile of old 45s or do I want a family holiday in a f*** off big villa with a private pool??? Christmas presents / clothes etc no contest I can always buy the records back one day when I'm rich. Stopping DJing has also had a lot to do with it - I no longer need to chase 45s - its also helped me start appreciating music properly rather than just considering how a 45 would sound played out.
  16. Bit of a stupid comment. Surely even if you've never needed one yourself you can think of a scenario where you might need one? eg if you were a DJ and needed to transport 12" singles or LPs anywhere for DJing, in which case a dedicated bag for records is pretty much essential as you'll be carrying your 45s case, headphones etc with your hands. Unless you were not bothered about keeping the records in a decent condition in which case you can just shove them in any old bag with your fishing tackle / football boots etc
  17. Have you recently bought something for 1.75 or not?
  18. I've always played my records to my daughter who is now nearly two - she always wants to go in the record room and she picks 45s out and hands them to me to put on and dances like crazy round the room. I'd never tell her not to go near them or touch them...I just make sure the more valuable ones or my favourite records are out of reach. Her favourite records at the moment are Black Sabbath - Paranoid and this one Jeronimo's great version of Na Na Hey Hey
  19. Bit suspicious that they could only manage to get those crappy photos. What's the likelihood they have picked out most of the best stuff and left 100,000 mostly worthless or low value records. You'd have to be a fool to bid that kind of money unless you knew and trusted the seller. Looks like there is no opportunity to look through the stock either, due to the 'repossession'.
  20. you know apparently Paul McCartney plays tambourine on the flip of this 45 - so its becoming sought after by Beatles fans - I sold one the other week for £55
