  1. So whats an Original then??????????????? Acetate Test Press Demo First Press 2nd Press (which could have been a matter of weeks later as the first run sold out 3rd press 4th press etc Uk 1st press etc European (Name your country) 1st press Any other country 1st Press And just to through a spanner in the works, if the original was a US LP track but came out on 45 in some other country. Also do we really know if the 45 came before the LP or was it the other way around More spanners None US original but got a US release Did the local issue always come before the National or was it the other way around in some cases. How do we know it came out first in the US, who's to say the Canadian, Mexican etc didn't beat it by a few weeks due to some hold up in the USA. Come to think about it what about West / East coast did one come out before the other, do we really know? If it's rare soul should it be the more expensive copy. By default most US Originals are more expensive than others but what about the exceptions Darrel Banks on Uk London as an example Surely the correct way is to know who you are DJing with and don't piss on their spot with an inappropriate copy.
  2. Check P&P charge prior to bidding / buying if you don't like it fine don't buy/bid it's a simple choice, why bother complaining.
  3. Got the news on Facebook from Ruby Andrews, another name gone to soul heaven.
  4. Steve Thomas ran a coach from North Wales to the Stafford Reunion a few months back.
  5. Yes I've had a copy of Carol Woods, in fact may still have it somewhere, have to dig it out.
  6. Quite often the seller is after some quick money so discounts the record so it's not necessary a true reflection of the price, plus prices are always on the move.
  7. Totally depend what the record is, no one would bat an eye if you played Darrel Banks on London, over the US original just one example were rules would go out of the window.
  8. The simple term is we are into non-mainstream soul music, whether it's the Artists or the songs. Even If the artist is mainstream we prefer hearing the obscure or unissued tracks by them. Lot's of the top 500 have become mainstream, that's why we don't want to hear them.
  9. I guess it's not easy on white promo - could be on the blue promo.
  10. I'm sure I had a number of releases on the Black label design covering this period 1968-1973, soul reggae & pop, so don't see how the label design was short lived.
  11. Richie Andrews was selling a Virgina Blakley last week on here, he may still have it.
  12. At £200 it's a steal.
  13. Certainly a beach record the O'Kaysions also recorded on Cotillion.
  14. That's a shame, hope the had copies of the pictures.
  15. Pete, The instrumental is on the Little Anne LP.
  16. When I heard Karl first play it out I asked him who it was, he said I should know as I had sold it him, true I had forgotton all about the track anyway here's a picture of the group .
  17. Surely two of the biggest gospel records played on the northern scene are: Kenny Smith - Lord What's Happenning To Our People Clara Ward - The Right Direction
  18. They have different flip sides so if you're after "My Baby ain't no plaything" it's the Westbound copy you require, the flip side of the Soulhawk is "If I only Knew"
  19. MINT should mean Unplayed, the only records I list as Mint is when I know they are, new releases, or multiple stock copies I have, if I'm not 100% sure then it's Ex even if it looks mint. Vg (-) (+) (++) a minefield, tends to be different from seller to seller.
  20. Check out her great version of "I'll Try Something New"
  21. Makes me laugh this site, how loads of people slag off the white dance tunes from Wigan, but cream themselves over the white dance tunes that get play on todays scene. Northern and Soul are two different things, this applies to both white and black artists.
  22. Listened to the following CD's so far: Kev Cane - Great reminder of the quality of Motown, we all know the dancers but theres some great deep/sweet on the label which we tend to overlook. Dave Turner - Again quality from some big name artists that are so easy to overlook Steve Edgar - Again lots of artists I know, but mostly new tracks to me. Kitch - Lots of tracks new to me , but the Shadow Of Shades made me prick my ears up as I had put Elevation's version as track 1 on my Cd, what's the story here then. Mike Lofthouse - Mike not sure what's gone wrong with Cd, only plays up to track 12, 12 great tracks so I would like to hear the other 10. Dylan - Another great set mostly tunes again that are new to me. Tend to listen to each Cd about half a dozen times so that's why it's taking a little time to wade through them all.
