  1. Came out twice LOVE IS BLIND b/w TOY SOLDIERS UNITED INTERNATIONAL 643 books at £1000 I'LL BE OVER (TOMORROW) b/w TOY SOLDIERS UNITED INTERNATIONAL 1848 books at £2000 As JM lists both as b side then I guess that means both are double sided northern, anybody got sound bites of the A Sides.
  2. FORMER SHALAMAR MANAGER DICK GRIFFEY DEAD THE FACTS S.O.L.A.R. Records founder and former manager of Shalamar has died. THE SPIN Dick Griffey, the visionary behind S.O.L.A.R Records and mega hits and artist, died Friday from compications of quadruple bypass surgery. Black America Web Reports: Though Griffey operated quietly behind the scenes, his work is well known to the millions of music lovers who snapped up the posh funk hits his label generated. From its 1977 inception throughout its 1980s heyday, S.O.L.A.R. issued an impressive series of family-friendly hits performed by acts like the Whispers, Shalamar (featuring future solo stars Jody Watley and Howard Hewett), Midnight Star, Lakeside and others. S.O.L.A.R. hits like "A Night To Remember" (Shalamar), "I Miss You" (Klymaxx), "And The Beat Goes On" and "Rock Steady" (The Whispers) are essential listening for any lover of funk-era R&B.
  3. Still available.
  4. Plenty out there, just use google.
  5. Dream on, just think of all the group/soul/motown/do-wop/funk collectors in the states, we fit in one of the lakes, Machester is the size of one of there shopping malls. The majority of big ticket numbers on ebay are still coming out of the States, think this proves the point. Plus it doesn't matter if somewhere was picked over last year, doesn't mean that there not a new find to be found, rare records being found in car boots and second hand shop in the UK all the time even though they get picked every week.

  7. Bound to be some frozen gems there.
  8. There's tons there, the US is one big place and to think that there's no vinyl to be found is just plain rediculous.
  9. The Marvelettes / Kim Weston 45 was a freebie in an earlier box set and wasn't actually listed as part of the box set if I remember correctly. I got the freebie single for nothing at the time as my local record shop in Prestatyn didn't sell it as a box set but as individual 45's and as the Marvelettes / Kim Weston was a freebie, they kind lady who run the shop gave me it for nothing, when I bought the Temptations version of "To busy thinking about my baby", which had previously been un-issued as a 45, it was the B side of "MY Girl" in the box set and came in a card picture sleeve as did the others in the set. I didn't pick any of the others up from the set as the were all just the general re-issues of other classic material.
  10. Saw Edwin about a dozen times maybe more never missed him when he was on locally, and I've still got his first appearance at the Casino on tape somewhere , a true artist sadly missed.
  11. I missed a BUNKY copy early days of ebay, because I thought it was boot so didn't bid on it, it went for peanuts as I think others thought the same, it was only later I found out it hadn't been booted on the BUNKY label that has been shown on Mick's earlier post.
  12. Harboro Horace is now better known as Ady Croasdell. The names Ady Croasdell and Harboro Horace are synonymous with that of Kent Records. It was back in 1982 that Ady put together the first Kent soul set for the Ace stable. Horace's Records issued two Shrine LPs-.
  13. Regards the vocal to 6 by 6 this has being doing the rounds since the early 70's when it was rumoured to be a Musicor release by Tony Fox, if it was out there I'm sure we would all be aware of it as it would have definately been played out, as 6 by 6 was so popular back then. 14. Whatever you think this Cd ticks all the boxes as a historic reference to what Motown thought was worthwhile putting into the public domain at the time it was made from a commerical point of view. These tracks didn't tick the boxes for reason we will never know or understand as we weren't part of the day to day decision making. We should just be grateful that with some of the tracks they just may have got it wrong, and agree that they got some right, remember the studio's were churning this stuff out 24hrs a day 7 days a week, they were never all going to be classics. 15. R D Taylor was well known to the UK charts via "Indiana Wants Me" which had made number one a few years early and "Gotta See Jane" which made the charts in 1967, so hardly a one hit wonder. E21BF972-3ACA-A8AC-9DC2-5FD79E0A4DB81.03.01
  16. The type of funk being played on today's northern scene certainly wasn't being played back in the day.

  20. How anyone can say a million 45's is junk is daft, it may not be the music you are interested in but from a historic point of view it's a treasure. Taking that there's no doubles, to actually listen to them at a average 2 mins a side would take you 7.6 years non-stop,
  21. Nothing new about this term being using, I've used it on ebay for over ten years, it's a simple way to get around ebay rules regarding the word boot, most of these records are over 30 years old, and in some cases we are still having heated debates whether some are actually boots. Lots of the labels owners were still around in the 70's so no big deal knocking out a few hundred for some crazy people in the uk.
  22. My copy was a mispress, with the slowie on both sides, even though the label stated Heaven, got it in a soul pack in about 1974.

  25. If you paid £500 for it that's what it's worth, if you ain't got a copy it's worth a £100, yes the debate goes on, we all know rarity and value aint the same thing and never will be.
