  12. It's aimed at the TESCO buyers don't get upset about it, if they are original cuts then there's some good tunes on there, and if it educates the general public about Soul tunes it can't be bad, or would you rather they listen to Abba.
  13. Thought I'd been sorted but misunderstanding, so I'm still looking for a copy, if anybody can help.

  16. Starting to get excited about my trip now, see you all there, sounds like it will be a ball.
  17. Hi Steve, Yes I found that one myself, seems strange that they've not re-issued it as a straight CD release thought. Managed to sell customer the LP copy as long as I transfer it to CD as well, so problem now solved. Regards Mark
  18. Searched all over the place can't find anything about this Lp being re-issue on CD, strange considering that nearly every other LP seems to have. Guess they haven't got around to it, unless someone knows different, customer was after CD, I'll have to disappoint them and no the don't do vinyl.
  19. Come on someone must know
  20. Has this 1974 LP come out on CD.
  21. Why would you want to bin quality

  23. Nu Soul Stew Angel Rissoff Who would have thought someone from The Bronx would have so much success and be so well received in the south with his music. Well, my music loving friends, Angel Rissoff isn't your ordinary performer. This veteran of Doo Wop, Blues, Soul and Rock has just released his latest installment of songs that will fill your bowl with a whole lotta soul. When you pick a song like The Radiant's classic "Ain't No Big Thing" to cover and lead off a CD with, you better have your "stuff" together and not let it hit the fan. Mission accomplished here with no problem. "Never Like This Before" with it's driving rhythm, guitar, lead vocals and Rickey Godfrey background vocals sounds like it was recorded in Muscle Shoals or in Memphis at Stax. Up next is "Boogie Down Bronx", a song written by Rissoff and project engineer, bass player and project photographer Seth Glassman. This one is H-O-T. From Rissoff's bad to the bone vocals to Crispin Cioe's (Cracked Ice) sax solo, if you don't shag to this one, or at least tap your feet, feel free to sit in the corner all by your lonesome self and watch everyone else wear out some shoe leather to this one. "One More Heartache" features Barbara Harris, North Carolina native and member of The Toys ("A Lover's Concerto" fame) teaming up with Rissoff on lead. I really like it, no, I LOVE it when an artist puts his or her "stamp" on a cover tune. Angel Rissoff is one of the best. He has a knack to know which covers to stay true to the original version while doing his thing with it. Need proof? Listen to "Tears of Joy". The 5 Royales' Lowman Pauling would be proud of this one that features the group Choice on background vocals. Blues, Soul and Funk come together in "Snows of July", then we hear all about the lovely girl, "Geneve". This Rissoff original is another one that the shag dancers should like. Up next is another 5 Royales' cover, the popular "Think", with Don Wise on sax. (What I said about "Boogie Down Bronx" and "Tears of Joy" also applies to this one.) The upbeat "Hold On" follows and then we get to grab that special someone and hit the dance floor for four minutes and fifty-five seconds of slow dance bliss to "For Your Love". This one just knocked my socks off the first time I heard Angel sing it on a Youtube video when he was with Little Isidore & The Inquisitors and when I heard it on this project, off went my socks and shoes. By the way, Little Isidore and The Inquisitors provide the back up vocals, The Planotones' (and former Inquisitor) Johnny Gale handles guitar duty and John Hagen delivers some soulful sax on this one. What we have next is The Tams' classic "What Kind Of Fool" performed in true Rissoff style. Solomon Burke's "Cry To Me" has been covered by various artists in various ways. Well brothers and sisters, this belly rubbing version is one of the best I have heard. The B3 is the icing on the musical cake on this one. The last selection in this baker's dozen of sizzling soul tunes is the top-shelf cover of Sam Cooke's "I'm Gonna Forget About You". Some of my contemporaries overlooked this one when it was released on "Angel's Nu Soul Explosion", but it is well deserving of radio and club play. This project is another example of the saying "all good things in due time". This is a first rate CD from a first rate artist. Butch Halpin Carolina Sounds Beach Show £14 free P&P
