About time some of the major companies got there act together and re-issued vinyl 45's, we might get some un-issued tracks as well.
-
Most/If not all dealers are registered as a business on ebay/paypal so it's easy for the Tax man, you can't hide your sales.
-
Too true Pete, we also tend to forget or ignore the fact that BIG records played in the Casino, don't fit the bill today, and if you say you didn't dance to them, then you weren't there or couldn't dance, I danced my socks off to Muriel Day and spent a fortune buying a Page One demo back in the 70's, I still have it, it's what's called a memory and I'm not afraid to admit it, like some.

A postive note for a change, nice one Paul.

Chiffons Band " Sweet Talking Guy " - one of russ's on offs... from earlier post Chiffon's Theme - Sweet Talking guy I still have an american acetate, I've had since the early 70's use to play it all the time at the Colwyn Bay allnighters so wasn't a Russ one off that's for sure.

First Proper Northern Soul Record You Heard ?
funkyfeet replied to The Tempest's topic in All About the SOUL
TAMS - HEY GIRL DON'T BOTHER ME from around about 1967/8, and you could only hear it when the two guys did the local village youth club, fell in love with it, and was so chuffed to get my re-issue copy in 1970, played it to death. Finally got a HMV demo many years later, still a great tune when you hear it out and it got to number 1 in the uk charts, but still in my top ten records of all time. -
Ebay just wants to get rid of the little man, they reckon we are too much trouble with the complaints they receive about none delivery overcharging on P&P etc. What they forget it was the small fry that made their business, but they only want power sellers on there now, as it makes life easier for them. I use to list loads of pop 45's for 99p no point in doing that now as it costs me 90p to post out 1st class + the cost of the mailer, and then add fees from ebay+paypal, I would now be selling them at a loss. The records are only worth 99p but if you sold enough of them it covered the cost of your better items. Ebay say's it's to help buys get more sales????, in my view it reduces the amount of items available as 1000's of items will not be worth listing, so now I'll have trouble finding cheap pop records for my customers, that I haven't got in stock. I've noticed some sellers are listing the P&P in the description, but you'll only need one buyer to complain to ebay and they will pull your listings, I guess it's a case of watch this space.

At Prestatyn, I had trading standards say I couldn't sell Demo/Promotional copies which had not for sale on the label, thought the guy was joking at first, until he showed me his ID and then I realised he had security and the Pontin's Manager with him. Anybody else had a run in with these guys elsewhere?

Thanks Baz, a couple have taken your advice. .

Have We Gone Full Circle In Northernsoul?
funkyfeet replied to ImberBoy's topic in All About the SOUL
It's the word NORTHERN that's the problem, back in the 70's it was quite easy to describe a northern record (Uptempo, a failed Motown type of sound) Now after 40 years we have so many different styles it confuses the issue, but the one thing that will always be the same is that there will always be a rare soul scene, maybe not as we know it, but it will be there. I bet kids today all over the world are collecting current and 2k releases, which will in turn become the rarities of tomorrow, and their thirst for similar sounds to what they collect now will just be the same as ours, in ten to twenty years time, and the same debates will go on as well, it's human nature. -
No Recent Northern Discovery Would Have Cut It At Wc
funkyfeet replied to Russ Vickers's topic in All About the SOUL
The Exits was around it just didn't do it at the time, and I pretty sure Nolan Porter was played as a new release in the Mecca. -

Defaced Records / Writing On Labels Etc
funkyfeet replied to Sheldonsoul's topic in All About the SOUL
REASON IS NOBODY KNEW AT THE TIME THEY WOULD BE COLLECTABLE AND EXPENSIVE, THEY WERE A TODAY ITEM, YOU PLAYED THEM TO DEATH AND DIDN'T TREAT THEM KINDLY. I use to write all over mine, when I was young and didn't know any better, as you got older and more experienced you realised it was a bad thing to do. If you don't understand why and have to ask the question is because you're a youngest and have learnt from our mistakes. -
Interesting this, just think all you guys who play non-US 45's as it didn't come out on a 45 in the States but did appear on LP. Just for starters, Timi Yuro - Never be over for me Starts the ball rolling where's it gonna stop, does this mean if you play the 45 then the soul-source police are on your case. Also what about records that are released but the artists didn't know they were released were do you stand with this, even if it's a major label is this any different than a bootleg, the artists didn't get anything from what ever sales were generated. Tobi Legend on Mala is a classic example of this.

BETTY WRIGHT back in the 70's
-
Surely if it's un-issued why can't anybody play it????????????? the ones who have got it aint got an original so no big deal. The only one who can complain is the person who has the original acetate, that's if there is one.

Is it on vinyl being a new release?

Are Records Sold On This Site More Expensive Than Average?
funkyfeet replied to Pete S's topic in Look At Your Box
Surely if you think a price is too high you have two options, ignore it or make an offer Condition, I tend to undergrade to be on the safe side, if I get it wrong (I'm not perfect) there's always a solution to be had either with price or return, I like to keep my customers happy. -
Bid on it myself, it's okay but I wasn't prepared to go much further as I couldn't see much play out with it, a very select venue type of tune.
