I bid £800 on a mint copy on Pat Brady's auction 5yrs ago and didn't get it, it went to Japan, everyone I've bid on since has gone for more than that, and ones I've seen at private sales have sold for more than that as well unless the were f**ked. Price and rarity don't go together we all know that.

If you look in the earlier JM guides he didn't have the proper LANDO copy listed at all , this is why people think the LENDO copies are real. Truth and fiction become one at times. Scan of my copy

Not joking 80's Boot Canada just across water from Detroit.

Bought this as a new release no story behind it, it was a new record for 1986.

Had all three copies at one time or another, not much difference between them pure preference which one you want.

If You Could Have All Of The Soul Records From One Year
funkyfeet replied to Samson's topic in All About the SOUL
1969/70 for me -
Two of the best northern christmas tunes. Horace Williams - I'm Going Christmas Shopping (Uptempo Detroit) Kissi Jacobs - Let it be him (Superb northern)

My guess would have been a local D.C jock would have been the first to play a Shrine record, all this who played it first is b*llocks in most instances, no one really knows, the only ones I will move on is if it's an acetate and even then I guess there room for debate over it.

Bob also collects brewery memorabilia these days, he also still picks up the odd record. Bob and the early collectors used to get trains across the country just to show each other their latest number, they were soul label collectors, and ended up with rare records by default in a way, although some weren't so rare back then, especially the Detroit labels, as lots of the records were only 2-4 years old.

Archie Bell & The Drells 'where Will You Go When The Partys Over'
funkyfeet replied to a topic in Record Wants
Portrait copy is the re-issue and seems to go for more money for some reason, two good sides. -
Been out a while now, copies for sale if anybody's after one.

Fuck the supermarkets support the independants, yes we charge a little more but that's because the supermarkets tell the suppliers what they will pay and not a penny more, fine for large selling titles not for obscure soul releases, every time you buy a soul cd in a super market is another nail in the independants coffin, and they are only interested in selling big numbers titles.

Very sad to hear this news about Alan, I first met Alan when he came to my office on the St. Asaph Business park when he came across to pick up some records he had bought off me, we had a laugh as I was working in Manchester Airport at the time and he was working out of St. Asaph we said we should being doing each others job to save on the travel. A few months later Alan decided to relocate to North Wales to save on the travelling each day from the North West, we met up a few times over the coming months usually when he was picking up a few tasty tunes off me. I knew he had been ill for a few years, he was in hospital the same time as my partner Sue a couple of years back and after visiting Sue, I used to go and spend a few minutes with Alan, I would take a soul mag in for him to read, later when he got a little better he started to get out a little visiting me at my new venture Funkyfeet Record Shop in Rhyl. Alan was one of the first to buy the Heeey Baby Days of Beach Music book from the shop he also started to attend a few local soul nights, this is such a shock R.I.P Alan you were a real gentleman.

Was offered 3,000 mp3 tracks the other day all northern/motown, the guy thought I could use them at do's I DJ at, I explained I only play vinyl, he said I bet there's tracks you won't have on vinyl, I agreed but told him I don't play CD's out while DJing. He'll have no problem off loading them to someone though, and that person will never buy another CD from a shop. Also another problem: I would stock more CD's in the shop, but the main issue is the price I can buy them in at, I get them cheaper off Amazon than from distributors direct, this is one of the issues they don't cater for the small shops at the right price to compete with the supermarkets, Amazon or bootleggers.

Blue Eyed Soul Versus The Way Of The Crowd
funkyfeet replied to The Tempest's topic in All About the SOUL
Of course you could, and no one would notice it one little bit, unless they are a real sad bastards, and they don't even have to be Wigan Classics even, there were enough played at Stafford and since, to put one hell of a spot together.
