  1. Chris, there's some great music coming out on UK labels today and over the last few years, many of the tracks are un-issued or impossible to own on American issue, so what better than having them issued in the UK, the Artists get something out of the deal, also if they didn't get issued then there's a good chance that they would get booted anyway. BUY BRITISH - TOMORROW COLLECTABLES TODAY
  2. This LP could have been put on by RELIC Records in New Jersey, they put a CD out, but included The Springers "Nothing's Too Good For My Baby" on it. When I got the CD I thought that the Ethics had also cut the song or were the same group, then Realised that both groups had recorded for Whale and that they had most probably got the masters mixed up. What is the track listing on the LP? I'll dig out the CD tonight.
  3. I'm sure Joe Dunlop had one of these for sale a few years back.
  4. Lots of 1960's pop records are played on the popcorn scene, girly types, big voiced male crooners as well as lots of instrumentals, R&B and Soul. Records these days have crossed both ways with northern tracks being played on the popcorn scene and popcorn records being played at northern soul venues.
  5. Found this on google for you John Some good easy R&B from the Incredibles, a trio from Los Angeles consisting of two males and a female. Led by Cal Waymon, the Incredibles specialized in crying ballads, even when the message was positive. On their biggest record, "Heart & Soul," the overall feel was one of sadness and despair; when they sing Sam Cooke's hit "For Sentimental Reasons," it sounds more like wishful thinking than actually being in love and being loved in return. The titles all depict rejection and heartache: "Standing Here Crying," "Crying Heart" (which has a midtempo beat), "Lost Without You," "Stop the Raindrops," and on and on. "I Found a Love" is the most uplifting tune on the album -- at least on this track, the singer finds a new love after being dumped. Although sad, most of the tunes work well. "I'll Make It Easy," for example is a lovely ballad where Cal pleads with his woman to return home, because if she does he'll make it easy; the touching refrain rivals "Heart & Soul" for the honor of their most popular recording, and upon release it crept into the Top 20 rotations on many R&B stations across America. A 1998 CD reissue compiled the tracks from the original LP, on Audio Arts Records, with five bonus tracks. ~ Andrew Hamilton
  6. Soul Joe Clements on Plexium must be up there also.
  7. FREE POSTAGE PAYPAL - GIFT to sales@funkyfeetrecords.co.uk Two previously un-issued Kenny Hamber ARCTIC tracks, which Kenny found when trawling through some un-issued tapes. Kenny has had 200 copies pressed up for his performance at the Rare Soul Weekender at Prestatyn this weekend (18/3/10 through 21/3/2010 £20.00 Listen: Listen: Kenny Hamber - Hey Girl.bmp
  8. Can't do sound bite's at moment as I'm at the weekender, top side is uptempo northern, got the thumbs up from the people who have heard it, the flip side is a nice crossover version of the Freddie Scott classic "Hey Girl". Out of the two side I prefer the "Hey Girl", but it's a good two sided release. A couple of SS been quick off the mark, I've posted your copies out should be with you in the morning.
  9. UK P&P £2.00 Recorded Delivery EEC £2.50 Rest £3.00 Two previously un-issued Kenny Hamber ARCTIC tracks, which Kenny found when trawling through some un-issued tapes. Kenny has had 200 copies pressed up for his performance at the Rare Soul Weekender at Prestatyn this weekend (18/3/10 through 21/3/2010), he is going to sign and sell them after his performance, I've managed to secure some copies this afternoon from Kenny himself, so these maybe the only copies that comes out on the open market. £20.00 Also £10.00
  10. Didn't Dave Godin, put pressure in the early days on what to release, remember reading that somewhere.
  11. Buy British, some great tunes coming out today, tomorrows collectables.
  12. Linda for me as well, incredible vocalist.
  13. Interesting to hear that the Canadian RCA release is rare, I have a white demo, I wonder were people stand with owning one of these compared to the US release, by most of the accounts I read on here it should be treated in the same category as the UK Contempo release as it's not an original
  14. Buying new UK releases maybe will put some money in the pocket of the artist, buying an original 60's 45 certainly doesn't what ever country it was released in.
  15. The Topics Album - WANTED LIVE By A Million Girls, goes for a nice figure.
  16. Correct, should have read it again, instead of relying on the other night's memory.
  17. Agree with you Mark, it sounded horrible, plus 2 cracks, for once the punters got it right and left it alone, rare or not some records deserve to be binned.
  18. Was played in lots of venues as a new release, but won't argue about Mecca being ahead of the game.
  19. Check out following: The Delfonics - Hurts So Bad. The Delfonics - I Told You So. The Delfonics - Can't Get Over Losing You The Delfonics - You Can't Be Loving Him All great dancers.
  20. One of those classic 70's club classics, why anybody would cover this up is amazing.
  21. If someone wants to pay £40 for it that's up to them, not everyone has the time or inclination to go searching around for records, so pay dealer price, no different from any purchase you care to name.
  22. Keith has sent me a copy for people to view at Prestatyn, I'll have the copy on my stall at the weekender, so if you are going to the weekender and want a view prior to buying then come check it out. It's a great read, and highly recommended. Mark @ Funkyfeet Records.
  23. Remember a lot of successes were actually failures until found and pushed by the soul scene, and I guess something like the Mellow Souls would suffer the same fate if it was suddenly taken into that arena. Don't know about the rest of you, but I just like good music whether it's a success or not is irrelevant.
  24. Been done before, back in the 80's use to have a stall at Black Music fairs around the country, remember doing Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Brixton (1st meet with Mark Bicknell) also the Steve Davies quick exit from the fight that started between a punter and stall holder, over a stolen record amazing.
