As Dave asked for a scan at the start of the thread we are still all waiting for one, suprised no one has one or is this an urban myth again.

Lots of ebayer sellers out there that have been trading for years haven't a clue about soul music it's just a record to them. I most probably list incorrectly pop items, you can't know everything. I would guess the majority of ebay seller have never ever heard of JM or even SS.

Anyone Ever Get Anything Nicked At Wigan
funkyfeet replied to Sheldonsoul's topic in All About the SOUL
Not quite the same but didn't some guys have a racket of trying to charge you 10p to get into the bogs, they just got fuck off from me, 5 of them 10p got me a soul pack. -
I have this and the other version by Sidney Wallace & The Beliars on Zudan. Anymore version out there.

I have it on Demension Demo, always thought it was a cheapie.

I've had another email of Paul, he hasn't confirmed one way or another that they have been done previously, but he has informed me that Robby Lawson is in a bad way fancially so may consider doing a limited press to help him out. I've told him they would generally sell for £10-£20 in the Uk. He's getting back to me again on Monday.

Has to be Dobie Gray - OUT ON THE FLOOR -
Always try to list my items an honestly as possibly, but we are all human and make mistake, tell me someone who hasn't, if pointed out I will always amend a listing, did it here on SS with the Petals, had a few enquiries then releasied that I had just put Mercury and not the multi coloured label which I should have done, amended correctly once pointed out. Also myself included I don't know everything, so I have no doubt I will make mistakes in the future, as stated there are also new boots/re-issues out everyday it's hard to keep up. Also some boot are rarer than originals and are collectable in their own right, which is why some go for money, and of course $200 for a boot may seem cheap to some people when an Original is $5000. Buyer should always be aware, I've lost count of the people on SS who say they have been ripped of one way or another on ebay over the years, and most of you have a great deal of knowledge so you have obviously made mistakes yourself, the deal was too good you couldn't resist, do your homework is always the key. Ask questions, read feedback, ask a friend.

Latest reply from Paul. Mark All of those are bootlegs. I'm the only one with the origional masters. I might do something in the future but because of the value of my records it's hard to say. Paul Kyser I've emailed him again waiting on reply, so it looks like a no, he hasn't done it, so if there's a new press out and about it's a boot.

Otis Clay - Only Way Is Up - Sold $255 Us
funkyfeet replied to Sunnysoul's topic in Look At Your Box
Power Sellers have more traffic directed to them, so more people get to see items for sale. -
Reply from Paul, have emailed him again to to see if I can get a bit more info from him. Mark I am the only one who rightfully have the right to press Kyser Records. From back to 1967. No other person has the rights. I own the master and the song and copyrights. Any one else are crooks. Paul Kyser

If it's a Casino night it should be played, it was a monster so should the other Big floorfilling "POP" tunes otherwise you are doing what the yanks do with their version of history in their films. -
Dave I've emailed Paul to see if I can find some info for you.

Where did you hear the info on the Repress

Hi Stu, I read that myself but didn't really answer the LOCK question, she would have been very young as I would have thought the LOCK 45 was late 60's which would have made her 10-12 years old.

I can see why a dealer will take a original sleeve off a non-value 45/Lp to match up with a valueable 45/Lp or sell it seperately. It's a growing market, seems soul collectors now following on what pop (Rock/R&R/Beatles/Stones etc) collectors have been doing for ages, adds value to your 45/Lp if it has the original sleeve/inner. It's one of the first thing a Beatles collector will check with an LP.

Mark, did Mecca and then followed onto Casino myself, both were just brill but hey we were kids then, it was a night out and I just wanted to dance so both venues suited me down to the ground at the time, and yes I did dance to all those pop tunes not ashamed it was a start of a journey.

Haven't a clue who he is, it's just the way people get upset on here over a record on ebay is unbelievable.

Soul singer Bobby Thurston was a native of Washington, D.C., and got his start singing and playing congas with a group called Spectrum Ltd. in his high school years. He caught his break when writers/producers Willie Lester and Rodney Brown heard him sing live, and signed him as part of their attempt to forge a stable of artists in the vein of Philadelphia International. Thurston recorded his first album, Sweetest Piece of the Pie, in 1978, and it was very much in the smooth, mellow Philly soul vein, with help from keyboardist/arranger Al Johnson. Thurston's subsequent recordings for Prelude were more consistently disco-oriented, starting with 1980's double-sided 12" club smash "You Got What It Takes"/"Check Out the Groove." The accompanying LP, You Got What It Takes, became his biggest seller, but the 1981 follow-up, The Main Attraction, was less successful, and Thurston faded from view as disco died out. Steve Huey, All Music Guide Just found this on the net: Bobby Thurston Sweetest Piece Of The Pie music CD album $22.85 in stock at CD ... in hearse chasing, issued just months after the great singer's death. ...

Lets get this right, the Mecca was in a holiday resort in the 70's we didn't fuck off to Spain, lots of off the street punters went to the highland ballroom, remember going there with a bus load on a trip to Blackpool from North Wales so no different to the day tripper that went to the Casino, Also my late partner did the same from Morecambe, Blackpool was a night out, you had to be a bit more committed to travel to a nighter. The above is nothing to do with the music played by the way that's another story.
