  1. Simples... Just frequent venues with promoters you can trust to book dj's that you can trust. If you are a promoter, police your venue to ensure you fit in that bracket. - Kev
  2. PM sent
  3. Can't you edit it yourself? - it was hard work ploughing through that before finding this.. - Kev
  4. What a fantastic article Roburt. I say 'article' because that's the way i see your posts - a series of lengthy and informative posts for us all to feast upon, with just an occasional prompt from another member. Re your list of names, the only one that I recall is Mick Murphy of Northampton. He was the first DJ that really set my soul on fire and set me on a journey. He used to host numerous nights in Northampton, notably for me at the 'Maple Ballroom' which was later to be re-vamped and become 'Shades' but was never as atmospheric as it's original dilapidated incarnation. According to my brother, who has remained local to the area, Mick is still performing his craft although didn't look in the best of health when seen about a year ago. - Kev
  5. That's all right mate. I've suggested to Russ that he contacts you if his sale falls through. - Kev
  6. Russ Flegg (russell f on here) has one to let go. He posted it up about a week ago and as far as I know still has it. The link below should get you there. He can be slow to respond to PM's so might be worth contacting on facebook. - Kev Oops....just noticed the link says "sold" - sorry.
  7. Peter, I'm embarrassed to say I've read that before, so really should have known the answer to one of my own questions! . A good memory must be a wonderful thing eh? - Kev
  8. There's some logic to your post. It prompted me to have another good listen to see if it might have been intended for a male vocalist originally. Nope...no mention whatsoever of the title line 'find yourself another man' within the lyrics, whereas 'don't make me get another man' clearly is. Strange one. As for plays, I haven't heard it played out but would be surprised if it hasn't been - especially more recently. It could fit nicely into the right set and I'd play it out. - Kev
  9. My advice is to be a bit more accurate with your grading. How can something be overall Ex when it has light ringwear, a small amount of writing, and some scuffing and small scratches. Then you grade the audio at Ex when it has surface noise and the occasional light pop. Nothing Excellent about that description my friend. - Kev
  10. Well....I'm surprised I didn't know that, so it's a big thanks from me! Seems the internet is a mine of misinformation - what with some folks saying she worked with both producers and others saying she had 2 releases and quoting the 2 titles of the same tune. - Kev
  11. Was wondering what the story was with the change of title and production credits on this one. Mercury 73000 - Gloria Bouschell - Find Yourself Another Man - produced by Eugene Dixon and Mercury 73000 - Gloria Bouschell - Don't Make me Get Another Man - produced by Gene Chandler The exact same cut to my ears and the same flip 'Hold On'. White promo copies of both, and also a 'stamped promo' (on an otherwise red stock copy) of the 'Don't Make Me...' title. Gloria supposedly worked with both Eugene Dixon and Gene Chandler but I'd love to know which of those two produced this, and which (if either?) was the first title. - Kev
  12. Nice 45. So this is Gwen Owens son, and brother of Xiantoni Ari ? Exactly when/where can we catch the Revue Show when it hits London (and elsewhere)? Posting it to the appropriate dates in the 'Events' section on here would be good, especially as I can't find any mention of it on your website. - Kev
  13. The Holidays - Watch Out Girl Same title but different song to the Embers. Can't hear any Billy Stewart similarity but this one is a tad closer to Pat & The Blenders. - Kev
  14. Keni Lewis (well, whoever it really is) - Not The Marrying Kind. - Kev
  15. OK Dave, in that case you didn't realise that the blue script at the top of Ricky's post is actually a link to a previous post where it was offered for sale at that price, Alternatively if you go to popsike.com you can search and see the achieved prices from previous auctions. - Kev
  16. The answer was in post 2 but you either missed it or chose to ignore it . That seems to be an average estimate according to popsike. - Kev
  17. I know you know. We all know. We've all either said it or thought it. I'm merely re-wording the explanation for the benefit of the one person who doesn't seem to get it.. - Kev
  18. I actually think the guy has a point, he's just isn't making it very well. It's perfectly reasonable to assume that artists from the U.S. north would be called our "northern soul brothers", soul brother being a ubiquitous term amongs't black Americans. What is causing the problem, is that the use and origins of the term is totally different on either side of the pond, something I don't think he understands. I don't actually think he should be talking about "northern soul brothers". I think what he really means is northern "Soul Brothers" What we would be talking about re the UK originated scene is "Northern Soul" brothers. There's a difference - Kev
  19. An interesting perspective and a good post I think from a new member, so don't be put off by adverse responses. Unfortunately you do show a lack of appreciation regarding the Northern Soul scene that began in the UK and is now acknowledged world-wide as a genre of music. I can almost understand from your post the reasoning behind so many U.S. ebay sellers describing some of their vinyl as "Northern Soul" - when to the rest of the world it clearly isn't. Think of it as Football. We could both discuss that game with a ball, played between 2 teams - yet we would each be talking about a completely different thing. - Kev
  20. You probably need to read the forum guidelines too, and not repeat your post every hour or so. - Kev edit.....Wow, that was quick . Well sorted !
  21. It would be an idea to stick your list on here mate, otherwise it's not really worth posting. If you've got about 100 just leave out the boots and stick the originals up and it shouldn't take too long. - Kev
  22. R.I.P. Toby. You were one of the genuine nice guys. - Kev & Pam
  23. Jeez it looks bad - you wouldn't even make a wall clock out of that ! Forget those chances of a foolish ebay buyer I reckon and sneak it into someone else's dustbin. - Kev
