  1. The description you've given here surpasses any one-word grading in terms of accuracy. You could give a play grade and ensure that all relevant info re the hairline is included and is VERY obvious. A sound clip would of course help too. Others that sell frequently may offer different or better advice. I'm stating what I would be happy with as a potential buyer. Good luck. - Kev
  2. And the description has changed too. The allusion to it being Rare Soul or even remotely soulful has gone. I've no objection whatsoever to the ad in it's current form - like the record itself, it just doesn't concern me. - Kev
  3. Why does everyone have to to be a DJ? Just buy it and play it at home. - Kev.
  4. Aim to get my copy soon. Also intend to attend the Tamla Motown Appreciation Society exhibition at the Horse Hospital, Collonade, Bloomsbury. It commences on Sat 3rd Dec so for me will be a good precursor to the 100 Club niter. Took a short drive today to Bexleyheath and knocked on the door of 139 Church Rd. I was curious as to wether the occupants were aware of the history of their home, with Dave Godin holding meetings of the TMAS there. No reply, but next door were astounded at the brief history lesson I supplied and assured me that the current occupants would be well chuffed. A copy of the book shortly headed for their coffee table I reckon. - Kev
  5. No they don't. But they will call it Rare Soul or even a 'unknown rare soul indemander biggie' (or some such contradictory piffle) in desperation to try and get a sale. eBay has hundreds of them clogging up every search I make and now they're creeping their way onto this site. Very disappointing. - Kev
  6. No, sounds like he should have stumped up fees but never does! - Kev
  7. I wouldn't bother with that phone call. If PayPal suspect that you've been using 'friends & family' gift payments for purchases they can withdraw that facility to you. Maybe even bar you from using PayPal, I don't recall the details, but misuse of gifting is against their rules and they don't like it. - Kev
  8. Well maybe Steve. If you happen to be part of the European scene or one of the enthusiastic youngsters on the current UK scene, then there is a distinct possibility that many of the classics that started us on our journey will be unknown to you. I once had a young lady, and latter day regular of the 100 Club exclaim to me "My God - I heard Right Track for the first time. What a tune!!" I didn't ridicule her. I was chuffed that she was so excited by something that got under my skin all those years ago. Did her a CD of similar tunes all unknown to her and it might even have included LCAG. - Kev
  9. Yep, you're right. Told you I was grumpy. With this particular buyer it does seem strange that he's given the same feedback so often (thanks Philippe). Is he claiming that all of those 'nothing's failed to be delivered? Surely not.
  10. Feedback sounds fair enough to me - and he hasn't slated you. You refunded and got a positive feedback. The potential buyer may have decided to ignore similar copies and waited to bid for yours. He may have watched it patiently and placed the winning bid(s) in the final seconds rather than snipe it. Then he gets nothing for his efforts. It wasn't your fault but the buyer is probably feeling ever so slightly annoyed. Whats he supposed to say? - what a top transaction it was? Sorry but I just don't get it when either sellers or the system let you down and just because you're not out of pocket at the end of the day you're expected to enthuse over the whole deal. - Kev a.k.a. Grumpy
  11. Just finished packing. A very early couple of hours kip and then off to Gatwick for the 0545 flight. Destination Mojacar and Dave & Bev Moore's fantastico Hitsville Weekender. Great company, great music, no nonsense. - Kev & Pam
  12. The research is fundamentally flawed. It is unclear if the professor is referring to Soul music or Northern Soul as he states and gives a timeline for the former but bases his questions and phraseology on the latter. Why state " from the 1960's to the late 1970's" and then ask a question about the 1970/80's? In fact why mention the 1960's at all when the largest section of questions (16 out of a total 37 questions) are specifically about Wigan Casino? I'm sure that many that attended Wigan will answer enthusiastically, but those that didn't attend will feel alienated by those questions and will be unlikely to respond. Add to that a couple of leading questions and Russell Gilbert's observation that the given view is that Northern Soul is a thing of the past and all does not bode well for an accurate piece of research. Is the University of Wolverhampton's department of History, Politics and War Studies, really about to re-write the history books? - Kev
  13. Terrible news and so sad. RIP Ben. Condolences to family and all that were close. - Kev
  14. Got to agree with that. Neither tune is on YouTube. - Kev
  15. More sad news. RIP Chrissie. - Kev.
  16. Revilot ..............Toliver - Kev
  17. If you're playing something of lesser quality do you fry your eggs and pretend all the noise is from the frying pan? - Kev
  18. I was wondering if I'm alone in this. If I want to play 2 particular 45's I will possibly have to play a couple of others in between in order to make them 'fit'. I know there are some dj's who wont have a clue what I am on about as they only own about a dozen records and still can't put a set together. But, I'm talking about playing at home with no audience. It could be that I'm generally using a mixer and twin decks, so the transition from one track to another is instant and therefore more noticeable. Something tells me though that I'm just being a bit OCD there just has to be a more pleasing sequence than randomness. Anyone else? - Kev
  19. Yep, I've got a full rig set up in my conservatory - 4' Peaveys and twin decks, Been convalescing since surgery in April and planned on spending my time playing lots of vinyl . Bummer! Acquired a copy of Ray & the Blue Satins 2 days before my surgery, and the Amp blew half way through it's first play. Still unable to lift anything that heavy, and to top it all Pam has broken her wrist and has her arm in plaster so she can't lift it out for repair either. CD's and Mp3's have been a godsend....but it's just not the same. - Kev
  20. Nothing showing on either of these links. Both say item removed or isn't available - Kev
  21. All I had to look at was the sellers name. - Kev
  22. I've grown to dislike the young girly shop assistants that end a transaction with "See ya later...!" At first I thought they meant it. - Kev
  23. Always travel - no choice as there's nothing on locally. Not out as much as I used to be mind. - Kev
  24. Tony, all the info is available via the link posted in the initial thread - including the fact that unfortunately it's now sold. - Kev
  25. Mate, it's still showing as available on the website. You need to click on the link (2nd line of original post) and go to the website to purchase it. It will be in the 'New Arrivals' section. - Kev
