  1. I think that included shipping Sammy ......But also required a friends & family payment. I generally go by my own valuations (how much I like it and how hard it is to obtain) and I declined too. - Kev
  2. Guys, read the original post. The poster instructs you to email him if you want a copy. I emailed him within 20 minutes of him posting. His reply stated that he had 5 copies of which he was selling 2 or 3 copies at $410 each on a first come first served basis. He already had 5 email enquiries. I think you might have missed the boat. - Kev
  3. Bloody hell......I might have known! Nice one Dave. It wasn't the same guy that you got the Swans Nitty Gritty City from for pennies, was it? Hope you're keeping well mate. - Kev.
  4. Nothing wrong with any of them but it depends on the crowd. At least a couple of those numbers could create a rush to the floor in certain circles and you don't want to detract from the occasion of the happy couples first dance. With This Ring worked for our first dance back in '74 (had to take the vinyl along for the wedding DJ). Nearly 43 years on you still hardly hear it out and it remains a special tune to us. - Kev & Pam
  5. One just posted in "a few sales" by 'soulaction' - Kev
  6. Coops posted French Fries in the wants section 3 hours ago. - Kev
  7. It was ok for about a minute and half. - Kev
  8. Although one was a trade it cost me dear so I'm including it. Had a shite year and I've been buying a lot less but it's still difficult to decide on a top 10. I guess it could be these: Ray & the Blue Satins - She Doesn't Love Me The Mighty Lovers - Mighty Lover Newcomers - Open Up Your Heart Lee Williams & the Cymbals - It's Everything About You Dream Team - There He Is / I'm Not Satisfied Fantastics - Me And You Little Charles & the Sidewinders - Talkin' About You Babe Marshall & the Chi-Lites - The Price Of Love Deena Johnson - The Breaking Point The Marriott's - Tell It Like It Is - Kev
  9. Just realised that the Events Calendar isn't all that obviously placed on here. Click on the 'Events - Comments' section and keep scrolling down. The calendar will appear with a fixed header that will allow to look at next week/month etc. You can also filter to show the type of event ie niter/ Weekender/ soul nite etc. Should be the first port of call for anyone looking for an event. - Kev
  10. Walls of Heartache. Full details are on the events calendar. Didn't look any further on there but there might be others. - Kev
  11. Much preferred them in their previous incarnation as Chubby & the Turnpikes. - Kev
  12. Nice to see vinyl fairly priced for once. ?- Kev
  13. No, sorry but that link shows "This listing has been removed or that item is not available" - Kev
  14. Still not working ..........well it is, but it's incorrect Link took me straight to MY eBay. - Kev
  15. Merry Christmas to you all, especially Mike and the mods, and in particular all of my friends who I haven't seen enough of this year. Soulful Best Wishes for 2017. - Kev
  16. Plenty of contradictions on here mate. You seem to be confusing the issue of dj's who can or can't fill the floor, with the old OV and Boots thing. The whole gist of your thread can be summed up with your lack of understanding as self professed here: .....Which is contradicted with this: Boots - they are ALL set to deceive mate. Some visually as well as aurally, but all set to deceive and all WRONG. - Kev
  17. Just out of interest, do you only dance to records that you know and maybe have been able to practice to? - Kev
  18. Nice one Joel. I don't know what they called that dance style, but later they were shagging. - Kev
  19. It's patently obvious that the only correct answer is "Wanky Skanky Make Abuck Ortwo" - Kev
  20. If you view the full article and look at your own photo's, on the inside lid of the open black box containing the white record sleeves, four exposed rivets can clearly be seen. On all of the boxes, and this is particularly clear on your website photos, the orientation of the catch mechanism is the opposite to every other box I have seen with this type of catch. A simple search will illustrate this. I'm not saying they will open of their own accord but by opening with a downward motion they are more prone to being knocked or having pressure applied that may open them accidentally. - Kev
  21. I have refurbished and sold more than a few of the genuine 60's/70's record boxes that this design is based on. Some were wooden and some were simply vinyl covered card. None of them were covered in expensive furniture coverings but all were undamaged after 50+ years of use and the most I sold them for was £25 though I'm aware that they can go for a little more. Finding a lockable model with a key was always a bonus - not because that is an adequate anti-theft device, but because it negates the likelihood of unwanted browsing and even accidental opening whilst carrying. The locks on the new boxes appear to be fitted upside down. Every single box (both old and new) that I have seen previously that has this type of catch opens by releasing from below. The jazzman boxes open by releasing from above, or from the top of the catch, which makes accidental opening much more likely - particularly once the catches become well worn as the release tab will fall away from the body of the case. Fitted the other (usual) way up this is much less likely to occur. It is/was usual for a covering to be applied to the inside of box lids. This would protect the contents from the 4 metal rivets that secure the handle brackets to the lid. Having had some of my paper sleeves damaged by exposed rivets, I used to ensure a covering was re-applied if missing. The rivets are exposed on these jazzman boxes. Have a look at the photos if you're uncertain what I'm talking about, then decide for yourself if these are 'ultimate' and warrant such a hefty price tag. btw I no longer refurbish and sell old models obtained from boot fairs and record shops. - Kev.
  22. Interesting. I wasn't aware of the 1071 'Yvonne Baker & The Sensations' being a '70's reissue. The story I read was of a rapid name change to promote Yvonne as a solo artist. I didn't know of the label variations of the 1010 copy either, but just a quick glance at YouTube brings them to light unless one is a bootleg. I have a 1010 white demo credited to ' The Sensations with Yvonne Baker'. The other 1010 appears to be credited to ' Yvonne Baker & The Sensations' - with 'The Sensations' being relegated to a substantially smaller font. - Kev
  23. No probs Ady, see you tomorrow. Don't pass on the mp3 and you can choose which suits. - Kev
  24. Just had a listen and exactly the same take to my ears. Reckon it was 're-branded' to give Yvonne a push as an artist in her own right. Could bring along a 1010 demo to the 100 Club tomorrow, though I'm sure your fine with David's mp3 . - Kev
  25. Have a word with Dave Moore. Apparently he bumped into these guys in the States. I think it was during one of the Soultrip USA things and in a bar or maybe hotel bar. He thought the 4 (?) black guys looked likely candidates to be a group so went over and chatted. They'd heard the Brits were in town and said they were the Adams Apples. - Kev
