  1. The legitimately licensed aspect aside, the illegal pirating of CD's and DVD's is undoubtedly big business and is performed on a massive scale. Spotting counterfeit CD's is beyond me and I would guess the vast majority who may read this. Vinyl however is the life blood of this scene and therefore where the expertise and passion lies - at least amongst the vast majority of members on this site. Wouldn't condone either though. -Kev.
  2. Asda? Are you sure it wasn't Boots?
  3. Now there's a thought! It took a while to sink in though. -Kev
  4. They didn't have a short while ago! Surely putting it up on here hasn't had a negative effect? Me? Well I'm watching his first and last sale to see if anything comes of the numerous reports that have gone in to ebay. -Kev.
  5. Done it before I even put the post up. Trouble is, reporting the items results in an email saying that ebay will investigate usually within 48 hrs. Well, the weekend is about here and most of his sales have only 2-3 days to go, so I reckon he's gonna get to sell a few at least. -Kev.
  6. Have a look at this ebay seller.......... vinylrecordcutting AUGUST UPDATE: BACK WITH 191 "Buy it now"ITEMS Sorry don't know how to do links to his stuff but his name says it all. Blatant or what! ...and the highest mailing cost in the UK too. Talk about have your cake and eat it, I hope he chokes. -Kev.
  7. Hi mate, I did 20 Sqn at Maidstone and "Dirty Thirty" at Iserlohn, but was out in '79 so missed ya. There's a thread on All Our Yesterdays called "Soulful Squaddies" started by an ex-sapper (Soulmanash) and most of the guys responding to it are ex-RE. Might be somene you know on there. Another one who isn't though is Kev Such, and I'm up to Rothwell nr Kettering, Northants, to another of his "Cream Cracker" nights tomorrow. If any of you guys are back in the vicinity of the RSME, I've got "Ain't No Big Thing" running fortnightly on Sunday afternoons at the Beacon Court in Canterbury St, Gillingham. Check out Soulful Squaddies, bound to be someone you know on there. -Kev
  8. Yep, I had a "Northamptonshire" patch on my blazer, and on my crombie, about '69-'73. It was part of the youth culture thing and I reckon the predecessor to the Soul Patches. Anybody still got one? -Kev
  9. Errm.... I think you might need to sort the link out. -Kev
  10. I think this is the second thread on this. It's certainly my second post on Reg's book, but as I'm reading it for the second time, so what! . Nice one Reg. Kev.
  11. If any of you Soulful Sappers are in the vicinity of the R.S.M.E. for the R.E. footie next weekend...... There is a free Sunday afternoon session in Gillingham. Check out AIN'T NO BIG THING on the Events thread and calender for 18th May. And if you do make it - be sure to say hello! -Kev.
  12. Got it about 3-4 years ago for £2.50. Wish I'd bought all the other copies that were there. -Kev.
  13. That's the pair! And they really are on there - search for yourself. When I first saw them listed I thought it was another unfortunately named american act (remember Lenny O'Henry?), but no, the clip is an excerpt from the comedy duo themselves. That apart, the jukebox is an extremely entertaining and a never ending source of tracks I just have to find on vinyl. Top marks to Dave Moore and co for providing such a useful tool and source of entertainment. -Kev.
  14. All the time! Found a real rarity on there last week , never heard it played out- "Derek & Clive". aka Peter Cook and Dudley Moore. Honest. -Kev.

  17. I recommend SLEEVE IT OUT UK. Card sleeves in White, Black, Green, Red, Yellow. Paper sleeves, mailers, DJ boxes, etc, etc. Contact Loz: lozdoyle17@hotmail.co.uk or phone 01634 578251. Based in Kent but I know the guy tavels around a fair bit doing Record Fairs etc. -Kev
  18. The 33rpm 6 track EP on Parrot has this, but not the 45rpm 4 track EP. Can't say I've heard it. Still trying to come to terms with the possibility of playing any Tom Jones track really . They sound the business but somehow just don't sit right with me. It's a personal thing. -Kev
  19. Cheers Steve, "Lo Puedo Romper Lo Nuevo De Mi" it is then! -Kev.
  20. Joe, I take it you're talking 'bout a Ben E. King version? The 6 track EP is Tom Jones. -Kev.
  21. Thanks Ken. Like you say - it'll fit in the box. Just gotta find out if the Mexican 4 track EP is 45rpm now - just to make things easy 'cos I know I'm gonna forget to switch speed. -Kev
  22. The Tom Jones version is on an LP which I've seen go for £3.50 on ebay recently. It's also on a 6 track Parrot EP - so I take it that's a 12" EP? -Kev.
  23. Hi Macca, No offence meant to anyone. I was perhaps being a bit to kind to the expats SC. I'm sure you're aware that "manyana, manyana" is a term or description used by many in reference to getting things done in Spain. I have experienced it myself, but what I once found frustrating I now see as an integral component of a more relaxed lifestyle. My move to Spain, when it happens, will not be accompanied by the wearing of Union Jack shorts or a total ignorance of the Spanish culture or language. I intend to integrate. So, I apologise if anything in my post was thought of as derogatory by any of our Spanish friends. As someone else has had problems with this Scooter Club it seems your description is the one to use. -Kevin
  24. Hi Chris, My plan over the next couple of years is to get something going on the Spanish Costas when I move there. Your mate might be struggling at the moment though. Try www.orihuelascooterclub.com which is an expats club near Torrevieja, a bit of a ride south from Benidorm. I was let down by them when I went over with my vinyl for their 1st Northern nite a couple of years ago. Seems they've gone native and adopted the "manyana" approach - ie cancelled without telling me. Don't know how serious they are about their Northern but worth a try. Check their site - there is a link on it to Denia Scooter Club. Denia is much closer to Benidorm and they might have something. You could also try Albert Petit or Dani on here. They are doing the Valencia niter in April and are bound to be aware of anything happening. Good Luck - I'd be interested to hear if your mate finds anything in Spain. Kevin Kent
  25. And it wasn't me that stitched Bearsy up. In fact, I'm in the shit just 'cos my missus has read this and thinks I'm pulling the wool over her eyes too! Not on the same scale I'm not (I wish!) -Kev.
