  1. Arrived this morning! Thanks Gilly - Kev
  2. Makes perfect sense to me. The guy has sold his copy or copies. As it's so common he knows he'll get more. So, rather than close his listing he has adjusted the price to something that no one will possibly bid on. When he gets another copy he will re-adjust to a proper price and will have saved himself the bother or cost ( guessing here as I don't sell) of opening another listing. Happens a fair bit on eBay, but not so much with vinyl sales. I gave a similar answer to Julian B's thread recently so maybe it's something we'll be seeing more of. - Kev
  3. I've bought gym equipment on eBay previously and discovered that some suppliers when out of stock would have their items listed at similar outlandish prices. I don't sell on eBay but am guessing that there is some advantage to keeping a listing open at an impossible price rather than closing and then re-listing if and when the item is back in stock. I'm guessing that is what is occurring here. He has sold his vinyl so puts the price at something no one will bid on, then when he gets more stock will adjust the price to something more attainable. - Kev
  4. Only one side for me - My Love Is Real. I'd be disappointed with anyone playing the other side out. - Kev
  5. Earlier in the year I had one that took over 2 months to arrive from the States. Like yours it never passed the 'In Transit' stage of tracking. Last week I had my fastest ever delivery from Mojo Boneyard records in Pennsylvania. Two and a half days to get to London via Chicago, then three and a half days to get the last 40 miles to my door. 6 days in total. I was prepared for another long wait but was very pleasantly surprised. That said, these are exceptional times and I think you should be prepared for a minimum of 2 months wait for anything from USA. - Kev
  6. Cross St Manchester, j/w Black Pool Fold.
  7. Just play the Boy Needs A Girl original that you already own. It's still a fine tune and I actually prefer it to Try Me. It's nice to own rarities but a good set shouldn't be about bragging rights. - Kev
  8. Yes, tonight 26th September 2020 is prominently marked in my calendar as the 41st Anniversary at the 100 Club. Even though the last few months have had us surviving via online events it is none the less a fantastic achievement. Congrats to Ady and all involved, both past and present. Such a shame that we can't be there tonight, but I felt obliged not to let the occasion pass unmarked. A bit sad that by now I should have been pressing my strides and polishing my Royals in preparation for what surely would have been a rammed Blue Posts, buzzing with anticipation of what awaited around the corner and down those hallowed stairs. I miss it. Missing all of my mates too. Hey-ho, we'll be back! If anyone wants to shout out any Hello's, post any reminiscences of the venue, or fantasise about what the 41st Anniversary Single might have been, feel free to post away! Hope to see you all soon. - Kev
  9. Good question. There's no way I'm scrolling through that list again without some prices to grab my interest. - Kev
  10. An interesting and enjoyable Part 1. Well put together and I've set a reminder for the rest of the series despite it clashing with one of my regular views. Random thoughts: Martha Reeves nearly burst into song during her tour of the Snakepit, phew. Mavis Staples is a very nice lady. The Four Hi's...Heartbreak River was an old gospel tune. There's nothing to do in Muscle Shoals except mess about with music. Looking forward to parts 2 and 3. - Kev
  11. Easy one for me, it has to be Betty. Unlike others I don't like both versions. The Sharon Jones is a messy arrangement and for my money would be left to languish in the 10cents bin. - Kev
  12. So what sort of prices were you expecting on these? - Kev
  13. One for me p!ease Gilly. Email sent.
  14. Titles and artists might help. There could be an awful lot of people that are unaware of the numbers. I certainly am not and there's no way I'm trawling through my boxes to check. On the other hand I would know instantly if I had such and such by so and so. Just a thought. - Kev
  15. Thanks for reading Ady. Yep tickets is a good idea and I don't know why I didn't think of it until I'd already posted and then read Jayne's post above. Good luck with whatever decisions you have to make, I don't envy you! - Kev
  16. I think that membership is likely to become a necessity, and not just for nostalgia or "keeping out the p!ssneads" purposes. I'm going to use the 100 Club as an example but what I am suggesting could presumably be the same for any event. My view of the very near future is this: Venues with membership will stand more chance of being allowed to open. This is due to the importance of contact tracing which does not yet have a proven effective system but which will become more of a requirement with the threat of a second wave or localised outbreaks of Covid-19. Example: "You have tested positive for Covid....where have you been and who with?" "Err, I was at the 100 Club with Trickster, Billy Whizz, Butch and a load of people from Manchester, Doncaster, Bristol, Market Harboro' and Spain." or "Hello 100 Club, could we have the addresses, emails and phone numbers of members present on this date please?" Sorted. Membership should be available on the night (for anyone that is deemed worthy of it). The important thing is having registered details. Also you only have to show your card and have your attendance noted, and not be stamped with something that has been in contact with a couple of hundred other people. I have heard that in Spain, sunbed vendors are just now forced to reduce their available rentals by 30% and hotels are being allowed only 50% occupancy. So another consideration will be venues running at an enforced reduced capacity. I will gladly pay well over the odds, twice or even four times the usual door tax, to attend a decent allnighter. So, hopefully events won't fold because they're not covering their costs. But what if you get there and three lots of 2 couples have been inquisitive enough to convince the door staff that they deserve entry? That's 12 people that, though I'm all for newbies discovering the scene, are denying entry to 12 people that really need to be there. Membership can overcome that problem. I know I suggested that membership and therefore entry should be available on the night. Currently I believe this should be allowed for travelling members of our current community rather than interested (or not) outsiders. There are other ways in which membership could be used. Could you imagine the first allnighter in the country re-opening. Capacity could well be reached before many of us from around the country arrived to find we'd had a wasted journey! I would feel bad too (just a little bit) if I'd travelled 200 miles and denied a local regular from being able to attend his usual haunt. I think we would have to accept that promoters should have the right to advertise an event as "current members only", or even not to advertise but to make it an "invitation only" event. That allows for a (reduced?) "full capacity" to consist of invited known regulars or, with details available from the membership register, to consist of only those from a geographical area, i.e local or local + guest DJ locality. Promoters choice. I expect to come in for a bit of flack here and I'm really just mulling over ideas. What I do think though is that the promoter who takes membership seriously, today, is a step nearer to re-opening. Ady, can we retain membership No1 for Sean please, and give me a low number too? - Kev
  17. I thought we were supposed to leave up the prices of sold items. Helps others to assist with pricing in the future. - Kev Oops!! Sorry should have read the post properly and/or minded my own business!!
  18. Top man Steve. I'll enjoy listening to these tonight. - Kev
  19. "Really good for the scene..."? Not in my opinion. People with an original are likely to start dropping it from their playlists as the wannabes start playing it at their little nights. Same goes for hell of a lot of good tunes lately. Save up for an original or travel to hear someone who plays it. That's what's good for the scene. - Kev
  20. Yep, that is good news. But I wonder if the figure of 18,000 ventilators needed, includes the number required to replace those recently removed from the ambulance fleet and redesignated for hospital use.
  21. A mate of mine has been in hospital battling Cancer for months. He's in a bad way but finally got accepted for some new T-Cell treatment which is still under trial, and was taken to Guys Hospital in London. Once Corona Virus hit, his wife Margaret was given the option of staying with him or going home, as no visiting would be allowed. She stayed. Untill he tested positive for Corona Virus yesterday, which he must have contracted in the hospital. He was immediately wheeled off to another part of the hospital and she was left to collect her things together and go home. No test for her, which I find hard to understand. Thoughts are with you Bob. Keep fighting mate. - Kev
  22. I know we must have one somewhere, but I don't do ovens. - Kev
  23. Fantastic response from all my neighbours! Same goes in Canterbury where my son (ambulance crew) and his wife (hospital cleaner) live. Unfortunately, where my daughter (midwife) and her husband (NHS technician) live, just a mile away from us, they heard nothing. Wish I could see them all, and the grandkids too. - Kev
  24. Yes mate, in Green and a new blue one - when I can find them. Still can't do a decent canister change ! Also got a couple of the half mask 3M respirators I mentioned from when I was doing a lot of laboratory work.
  25. I guess it all boils down to what you call a dust mask. In my local B&Q today the shelves were empty but the rails for where the N95 FFP2 should have been they were labelled as such but also as dust masks, hence the possibility for confusion which I was trying to straighten out. The same probably goes for the term 'surgical mask' which could be thought of as the comparatively inefficient disposable paper mask we often see NHS staff wearing. Not seeking to argue with you guys as I agree with you, but simply attempting to clarify the issue. Doesn't really matter to me personally - still got my gear from the training I did at Porton Down. - Kev
