  1. I heard that Spaceland was to be the original release to the backing track. Going To A Happening was put to the backing and rushed out to try and capitalise on the successes of Miracles -Going To A Go-Go and Bob Brady - Everybody's Going To A Love-In, and subsequently Spaceland was all but forgotten about.
  2. Plays all right on mine Ken. Apparently there's a DVD coming out in October.
  3. And I'll be the really old git with a bad back. I sometimes play shite records, but only so people stop dancing and come and speak to me.
  4. Glyn, I reckon our paths must have crossed mate. I definately remember smelly (I'd forgotten that tag 'til now) George. Some of the others sound very familiar too. Memory's not too good now though. -Kev
  5. Hi Mand, Sutton is going to be a cracking do!!! I'll look out for you there.......how will I recognise you?
  6. If anyone wants to take a peek at the video it's on the thread: /index.php?showtopic=98325 I reckon you'll agree that Mick Donnelly has done us proud. - Kev.
  7. TRY A LITTLE HARDER.........THE WI-FI-DELS
  8. O'JAYS........BACKTABBERS
  9. Spot on! You'll appreciate the opening lines of the promo vid for the Soul for Heroes (South) Chatham 'dayer: "IN THE EARLY '70s SERVICEMEN FROM THE MIDLANDS AND THE NORTH CARRIED THEIR ENTHUSIASM FOR NORTHERN SOUL FROM IT'S HEARTLAND IN THE NORTH TO THROUGHOUT THE UK AND BEYOND......" ........"NOW OUR SERVICEMEN NEED A HELPING HAND.........IT'S TIME TO REPAY THE DEBT". vid has just been finalised and should be on the thread next week, so hope you enjoy it.
  10. As per usual I was a bit slow on the uptake.
  11. That's a big LOL mate, so I'm obviously missing something here. Some squaddies i served with were deffo the most unsoulful lads on the planet. The one's that were soulful were real "defenders of the faith" - and still are. Now, what unsoulful thing did you do to deserve getting your door kicked in? ........or were you just AWOL -Kev.
  12. I'd forgotten all about it mate! ....and there's no way I'm gonna make it now...pity. Hopefully Paul, someone on here will chirp up and meet you for a bevvy. -Kev.
  13. So it is just a myth then? But...have another listen, with Cher in mind.
  14. I was 'reliably informed' that... Alfie Davidson - Love Is A Serious Business, was really sung by.....................................................................CHER.
  15. Ha, you're no sprog then Paul if you remember us moving down from Hohne! I was on a course at Brompton at the time and Pam had to move herself into new married quarters in Hamm. She cursed, but it was all nice and sorted by the time I got back to Germany. Be great if you could get down for the 27th mate. Have a look at the thread on the events page - we've got Sister Dawn and Smudge Smith on the decks so there is a St Ives connection. Sapper Kev Such will be doing his bit too. "...we are the dirty thirty, we are a fookin shower" - Kev.
  16. Hi Paul, Always good to see another sapper on here mate! I was at Iserlohn too - "Dirty" 30 Sqn, about '77 untill I got out in '79. Maybe a bit before your time. Brompton Cowboy!!! Only time I was a cowboy was when I tried to ply my trade as a brickie . Where are you now mate, and where do you get out to? Ther's a few R.E.'s on here so I'd be surprised if some weren't close by. Cheers, Kev.
  17. Are any of the guys on this thread coming down to Chatham for a bit of a re-union during the week long Armed Forces Day national celebrations at Chatham Historic Dockyard? Entry to the site is free for those serving and for Vets sporting a Vets badge. Details, including how to get a vets badge are on www.armedforcesday.org.uk I should be running a charity stand for Soul For Heroes, so throw a penny in the bucket and introduce yourself and we'll go for a beer! I won't be there on the day itself, 27th June, as I'm doing the SFH Chatham Alldayer just a mile away (see the events thread if you're up for it). Either way, dockyard or dancefloor, it'd be nice to put a few more faces to names. - Kev.
  18. ........always a sapper....and honoured to be asked to do my bit mate! Sorry i didn't see this sooner Ash . You coming down to this? If not see you at Sutton anyway.
  19. Stumbled across this place by accident in about '72 and bumped into a very knowlegeable guy by the name of Dave Godin. Still got the vinyl he pulled out and told me I should buy: Cat Walk......Gerry & Paul; Bok to Bach......Fathers Angels; Get On Up.....Esquires. What impressed me though was the bloody great "Wants List" he was carrying around It was a handwritten book.
  20. It's not. Blue Skies is no more - for the time being anyway. Solid Hit Soul is up and running again but I'm pretty certain it's on friday 8th May. - Kev.
  21. Well as far as I can make out it was written by the Four Seasons' Bob Gaudio & Al Kasha. Some of the soundtrack was those two with the assistance of Charles Callelo. Singer could be Al Kasha, previously known as Billy Casher of the 4-Evers, butI can't find a solo voice-clip to compare. My best guess would be that it's sung by Sal Mineo himself, as the vocals are a bit weak (like much of his stuff). - Kev.
  22. I played it out at "Stolen Hours" in Ramsgate on Saturday. It was an early doors slot so I thought I'd test the water with it. No rush to the floor but a bit of interest shown at the decks. -Kev
  23. No it's not just you. All that time setting searches. All those hopes that no one else has spotted it.
  24. It's only redeeming feaure is that it reminds me of someone who used to let me go knocking at her backdoor. - Kev.
  25. I'm pretty sure it's 45rpm 'cos if it's any faster it sounds like Pinky & Perky, and any slower it sounds like a drunk.
