Well, if you are meaning the Bank Holiday weekend, there's loads on including a Jazz Funk special at Brighton & Hove Greyhound Stadium on Saturday. info here: https://www.soul-survivors.co.uk/
  2. I can confirm - yes, it's either Genuine or bootleg err.....what label?

'Kinell, Kent Soul Club is my local nite! Fantastic venue and I'm always saying I wish I'd found it first. So - can I categorically state that IT WASN'T ME. Trevski, stop any rumours now. Name and shame.
  4. Nothing so refreshing for me as seeing someone new discovering the scene. Members should need to sign in any extra punters as guests. There's always enough people outside smoking to make this viable and it shouldn't be left to the door staff to decide. A few quick words could explain the rules and would go a long way to sorting out the stray piss-heads from genuine soulies and those who don't know the scene but have actually planned to go out of their way and give it a try.
  5. Nice Tune Albert. No sound on your clip after first 9 seconds though! Try this: CARL HENDERSON - IM SCHEMING -

I think you've answered your own question - and very well too. Usually put up by lack-lustre promoters who are just trying to attract anyone through the doors in order to boost the coffers. Lack of vinyl and unwillingness to put on decent dj's just adds to the monotony. Personally I like the expression as it tells me where to avoid.
  7. Hey Matthew, have you given up on trying to convert your fellow bus passengers? For the uninitiated, Matthew is WPaulVanDyke and this is one of his youtube blogs:
  8. Sorry John! Letting me out? I think they're confiscate my laptop and my zimmer.
  9. Another sold in the last 6 months, on Ebay I think, for £670. Sorry about the earlier confusion. I was mixing you up with John Alden. Yes, senility has arrived! - Kev.
  10. You sure mate? Could have sworn you played it round at your gaff, we discussed Carl Willinghams copy, and I mentioned an old press cutting I found re M&W performing t'other side live at a gig in the states when it was first released. Or....maybe it was one of your other rarities, in which case senility has finally caught up with me! You're not selling it by proxy for $1000 are ya?
  11. How much did your copy set you back John?
  12. Once I've cleared the floor with the Jerry Fuller I sometimes take advantage and go on to play this: MONROE TAYLOR - PROUD GUY - CHESAPEAKE 7" - Currently a £27 "buy it now" on Ebay if you like it. - Kev
  13. Nick, it's always worth using the search box at the top right of the screen....... ......Pete Smith (Pete S) has one on Liberty, Ex+, for £50 in his March 23rd sales list. - Kev.
  14. Nice tune Nick! It's on CHALLENGE and shouldn't be too hard to find a copy. Manship has one at £100 and Craig Moerer has one on Ebay now at a couple of quid more. I'd have thought you could find it anywhere between £30 - £60 if you wait. - Kev
  15. And don't forget to re-visit your posts to see if anyone has responded. If someone has answered your question or given you a response, then it's only good manners to at least be seen to read it. (Don't know how Webby manages to keep up with this) - Kev
  16. Shoe Polish......or something similar used to give the false impression that a dull 45 is a nice shiny Ex grade. Get a refund!
  17. Good point, and my ploy obviously hasn't worked. I was drawn to the thread by a morbid fascination as to why anyone would possibly want to start such a thread.
  18. HaHa..........and whenever I join a thread it just dies. Never liked this song, not even when Motown was about all we had. The less I'm reminded of it the better so hopefully I've killed this thread too. - Kev.
  19. Amongst his other sales he's selling flyers at £1.50. I'm sitting on a fortune and I didn't even know it! - Kev
  20. I met a french guy (who's name escapes me) in the Blue Posts, having a pre 100 club beer a couple of months ago. He puts on a do once a year in Paris but i don't remember if it was a nighter. He was a mate of Yann Vatiste so maybe he would know details. - Kev.
  21. The danceability of the song helps. If you just want to get to the dancefloor when you hear it - even for the first time, then it's good in my book. If and how anyone else dances to it - who cares? If it's good enough I'll be away in a world of my own. - Kev
  22. Russ, am I missing something here....isn't this a severe case of pot/ kettle/ black ? Well said that man!
  23. How does that confirm anything at all? The fact that it had a few bids and went for a decent price proves nothing. It wouldn't be the first time that a boot (if it is) has fooled a few people and with the various views shown on this thread so far, who knows? That is the very copy that I've just been offered, and which I refused. Lando for me. -Kev.
  24. Gave me a stiff neck - I'll have another try tomorrow. I didn't know Rob Messer was an actor! - Kev.
