  1. Sorry John! Letting me out? I think they're confiscate my laptop and my zimmer.
  2. Another sold in the last 6 months, on Ebay I think, for £670. Sorry about the earlier confusion. I was mixing you up with John Alden. Yes, senility has arrived! - Kev.
  3. You sure mate? Could have sworn you played it round at your gaff, we discussed Carl Willinghams copy, and I mentioned an old press cutting I found re M&W performing t'other side live at a gig in the states when it was first released. Or....maybe it was one of your other rarities, in which case senility has finally caught up with me! You're not selling it by proxy for $1000 are ya?
  4. How much did your copy set you back John?
  5. Once I've cleared the floor with the Jerry Fuller I sometimes take advantage and go on to play this: MONROE TAYLOR - PROUD GUY - CHESAPEAKE 7" - Currently a £27 "buy it now" on Ebay if you like it. - Kev
  6. Nick, it's always worth using the search box at the top right of the screen....... ......Pete Smith (Pete S) has one on Liberty, Ex+, for £50 in his March 23rd sales list. - Kev.
  7. Nice tune Nick! It's on CHALLENGE and shouldn't be too hard to find a copy. Manship has one at £100 and Craig Moerer has one on Ebay now at a couple of quid more. I'd have thought you could find it anywhere between £30 - £60 if you wait. - Kev
  8. And don't forget to re-visit your posts to see if anyone has responded. If someone has answered your question or given you a response, then it's only good manners to at least be seen to read it. (Don't know how Webby manages to keep up with this) - Kev
  9. Shoe Polish......or something similar used to give the false impression that a dull 45 is a nice shiny Ex grade. Get a refund!
  10. Good point, and my ploy obviously hasn't worked. I was drawn to the thread by a morbid fascination as to why anyone would possibly want to start such a thread.
  11. HaHa..........and whenever I join a thread it just dies. Never liked this song, not even when Motown was about all we had. The less I'm reminded of it the better so hopefully I've killed this thread too. - Kev.
  12. Amongst his other sales he's selling flyers at £1.50. I'm sitting on a fortune and I didn't even know it! - Kev
  13. I met a french guy (who's name escapes me) in the Blue Posts, having a pre 100 club beer a couple of months ago. He puts on a do once a year in Paris but i don't remember if it was a nighter. He was a mate of Yann Vatiste so maybe he would know details. - Kev.
  14. The danceability of the song helps. If you just want to get to the dancefloor when you hear it - even for the first time, then it's good in my book. If and how anyone else dances to it - who cares? If it's good enough I'll be away in a world of my own. - Kev
  15. Russ, am I missing something here....isn't this a severe case of pot/ kettle/ black ? Well said that man!
  16. How does that confirm anything at all? The fact that it had a few bids and went for a decent price proves nothing. It wouldn't be the first time that a boot (if it is) has fooled a few people and with the various views shown on this thread so far, who knows? That is the very copy that I've just been offered, and which I refused. Lando for me. -Kev.
  17. Gave me a stiff neck - I'll have another try tomorrow. I didn't know Rob Messer was an actor! - Kev.
  18. I tried it but it made the peas taste of plastic.
  19. No you didn't Ady, though maybe "concensus" is a bit exaggerated! I was also wrong to deduce that it may have been before the CD release. I don't know how to do a link to the previous thread, but it was started by Netspeaky on 14th Aug 2007, in Look At Your Box, titled "What's The Story" Jackie Lee + Belles SOUL FOX 45 For those interested it contains more input than this thread and should be worth a read. Here's what you said Ady, in reply to JM and maintaining exactly the same stance that you have now : Posted 15 August 2007 - 04:34 PM john manship, on Aug 15 2007, 08:01 AM, said: One of the problems of being a "naughty boy" is when you do something legit, nobody believes you. Simon did get an "in" at Mirwood, and issued instrumentals of classics etc. No reason to believe there's anything "fake" about them. I've always thought they were previously unissued tracks, which the scene has always embraced. Why not these? Even though they originated through Simon. Simon did occasionally do the right thing, but being naughty was far more fun. Sorry John, the only "in" he got was getting his grubby hands on some of the master tapes, it's highly unlikely (like 99.999999999999999999%) that Soussan did a legitimate deal for these, a story was put around by interested parties that Randy Wood told him to take whatever tapes he wanted but the company secretary and Randy Wood's financial backer said that never happened. The Belles is of course the Mirettes 'I Want To do Everything for You Baby' and I'll Do Anything is 'Anything You Want' actually by Jackie, the voice was too distinctive to fool people. The fact that Soussan changed the artists in one case and titles in both is pretty clear evidence that this is an out and out bootleg; tampering with a published song name is strictly illegal without the songwriter and publishers permission. Both songs were written by Sherlie Matthews. So it should not be sold as a legitimate release and £25 for a boot is on the very high side, particularly a common, poor quality one. Both sides are out legitimately on Kent's Mirwood CD series. This post has been edited by ady croasdell: 15 August 2007 - 04:34 PM - Kev.
  20. Well I may be wrong Ady, though I do recall thinking at the time that I could play my copy out without criticism (but still haven't cos there's always something better in the box). Maybe it was longer ago than I thought, prior to the CD release and to Ace looking into it. Don't know, just a thought. - Kev
  21. I wouldn't worry about it mate. It's always interesting to see what others have to say on a subject. Incidentally, there has been a previous thread on this vinyl (2-3 years ago?) and I think the concensus of opinion then was that it was legit, unusually for Soul Fox, and OK to play. Just have to make up your own mind now I guess. - Kev
  22. If your talking about vinyl, and i guess you are, then unless it's something I'm really desperate for I find it far too time consuming to trek through numerous websites. First port of call as a "browser" is this site and ebay. Same goes for the harder items 'cos it's so easy to set a search and just view the results - if I have no joy that's when it becomes a pain and I might resort to websites That said, I always view the lists from the dozen or so dealers who mail them to me - and in these cases if they're sent by email, the ones with sound clips are most useful as I'm far more likely to browse and buy, rather than just scan for my wants. Good luck. - Kev.
  23. Uh? You've deffo lost me now. It's only a keyboard thing James, and I think you see the funny side of it too. Made me laugh anyway, and brightened up the thread for me. Have a good weekend everbody. - Kev
  24. Yeah right !
