Ugly Records Return
But I'm bored Pete. When the old grey matter is working again I'll remember which Stateside vinyl I have where some t0sser has removed the top layer of the label and hand drawn a Kent/Modern label in felt-tip. :ohmy:wtf

Ugly Records Return
Thing is - it depends why you want them. The examples shown are pretty sh!ite but it's label damage. In an ideal world everyone would find a perfect mint copy of their desired vinyl. But.........not everyone regards themselves as a collector and just wants the sound (yes , because they collect them ) , and for arguements sake (and it's a well worn arguement) on original vinyl. I'd sooner have a crap water damaged label on an Ex to Mint player than a decent looking copy that sounds like a box of Snap Crackle & Pop. I'd sooner own a water damaged Shrine label, courtesy of Washington DC Fire Services than an unsleeved copy that's been abused through years of neglect. What's in the groove counts for a lot. Some would even go so far to say that label damage and w.o.l. can be regarded as part of the vinyl's history. To others condition, including the label, is everything. It's all relative. Kev

Just Bought This
Not bad I suppose, but it's a bit flat and LJB has taken something haunting and soulful and turned it into a pop song IMO. No emotion in it, and not a patch on Ray Pollard. - Kev.

"the Magic Touch"
Been looking at Nina Simone myself. She certainly has a vast and varied catalogue - not all of which is too well known. Lots of her stuff has been remixed and sampled by other music genres already, sadly to it's detriment IMO. Kev.

100 Club To Close By Xmas
You can't take sides mate 'cos it strikes me that everyone is on the same side. It's just that some are so far up their own @rses that they can't see that.

100 Club To Close By Xmas
Regarding the second part of your post Mick, that's not neccessarily the case. Plenty of unsuitable venues about, and some still in use. Like it or not the 100 Club is an iconic venue. Even without the iconic status and the history attached to it, it's atmospheric. Being at a niter on one of the busiest streets in London, having a cool-down outside and watching all the other clubbers and piss-heads staggering home and knowing that down those stairs you've still got a few hours of something special, means a lot to me . That at least will be irreplaceable. It is special. Kev.

100 Club To Close By Xmas
Erm.....I sensed criticism in your reply to my post.............."But not enough to do anything about it." So I'm not criticising you for trying to prevent the 100 club from being closed down - I wish you well, I really do. I'm criticising you for coming across as an arrogant @rse. Nothing more to say or it'll drift further off what is an important topic.

100 Club To Close By Xmas
Wow, just caught up with this thread and it's moved on a bit. I take it the above is a response to my first post. Well, yes it is just about the 6t's - for me anyway. It may be an iconic venue but there is little that would entice me there apart from the niters. You however see it differently. If you have 2 bands that perform there I suppose you have a vested interest..........................and you gave £20. Very commendable, but in times when I've been able I've handed more than that to strangers on the street who are down on their luck. Currently, for reasons I won't go into, I've had no income whatsoever for nearly 2 months and even though it's a relatively near venue for me I couldn't afford to attend the last anniversary. So, don't criticise me pal. Look to others who have a vested interest as I'm sure some of them are loaded. - Kev.

100 Club To Close By Xmas
Yes it's a shame. Yes I'd miss it. But as Ady himself has reminded us recently - The 6T's Rhythm & Soul Society is not the 100 Club, and the 100 Club is not the 6T's. So......................where's the Christmas Party gonna be? - Kev

Soulboy - The Movie. You've Seen It So . .
And I think it's time you stopped worrying yourself about other posters. Pretty audacious IMO to go categorising peeps who bothered to post . Individuals posting their views on the film is what the thread is about. Go buy some long trousers Simon.

Soulboy - The Movie. You've Seen It So . .
Perhaps I'm getting confused........... it might have been a bit of promotion on one of those early morning TV programmes, the one where the young lad playing the lead was interviewed. - Kev

Nice! And I've got to congratulate my good friend Henning (HBoogaloo) for totally confusing me when he posted this as one of his Last 5 Buys, on that thread. - Kev.

Dancing
You could tape your ears back if they're slowing you down - and use the same piece of tape to keep your specs on! ....Sorted.

Name You Last 5 Records
I've got the Fred Parris (and The Restless Hearts) on Green-Sea and titled "Blushing Bride". Same tune, different title. Can't remember which came first, but anybody know why the title change? Oh yes, and I like it too. - Kev.

Children At Allnighters
That's food for thought mate, and very well put too. Thing is, when I saw that youngster (who shall remain nameless ) on the floor, there was an even younger lad there - a 7 yr old who had the moves! So, where do we draw the line with allnighters? For me, like I said in an earlier post, if they can get there on their own and blag their way in - that's fine by me. If they need parents or quasi-parents around, it's a no. There's plenty of alldayers and suitable soul nites (with an early finish for you my boy ) for those cutting their teeth on the scene by way of parental introduction. Never mind the "oh, they're only there 'till 10" - go to a local soul nite then, if they'll let you in, and leave the allnighters for those grown up enough to want something extra.

Bobby Hebb Rip
Sad news. It was the songs he gave me that made my days seem brighter. R.I.P. Bobby Hebb James Brown tribute followed by Bobby Hebb interview.....................

E-Bay Joker
I'm gonna start buying Hillbilly vinyl, and hope they pack it out with some rare Northern shite.

Children At Allnighters
I just wondered if this was at an allnighter - and as she looks, speaks, and acts like a 15/16 yr old, how old Lottie actually is? There's probably a difference between being polite when confronted with something that is already happening, and airing your views on whether it should in fact have happened in the first place. I don't know - perhaps Simon can explain. Regarding the lad Ethan, and unfortunately for him he's being used as an example as he's the only one I have seen that I can name......... I was pleasantly surprised to see him on the floor at an alldayer, I was surprised to hear that he was at a soul night, and I would be shocked to see him at an allnighter. You really shouldn't be confused - you won't like them but just look at the poll results. The few "yes" votes probably account for the few parents that think kids at allnighters is acceptable, oblivious to the fact that the rest of us think otherwise. No exceptions, and "passion" really doesn't come into it. I was passionate about a lot of things as a kid but couldn't indulge myself untilI I ran away from home at 16 to escape the beatings that came with having my own way. And you know what?.....my parents were probably trying to do the right thing, but I didn't learn that until later. I knew fcuk all at 16 let alone at 12 or 13.

Children At Allnighters
I think there's plenty of posts on here that shows kids are welcome at some venues, but the poll is with regards to ALLNIGHTERS. That Ethan lad is a great little dancer and he's 12 (or was when I last saw him). It was a pleasure to see him on the floor. I like kids but I couldn't eat a whole one.

'Kinell, why would they want to do that Ken?!

Children At Allnighters
No probs - nothing personal but you just reminded me of the fact that I'm scared of dogs. Some people are, and in my case it probably stems from the number of dogs I had attack me when I was a squaddie in Northern Ireland. Not many dog owners realise that not everyone is as welcoming towards their four legged friends. As for kids - I've been to do's where they were running riot, sliding on talc etc, and a real pain in the @rse. I've also been to do's where some real youngsters had all the moves, and the ettiquette to go with it (no problem there), and I've enthused about them in the event lookback. An Allnighter is a different Kettle of fish though. IMO if they're old enough to get there themselves and blag their way in, that's OK by me. If they're young enough to need parents around, then they shouldn't be there. Kev. P.S. I'm not scared of kids.

Whities From Blighty
I couldn't resist it, but thought he'd have seen it by now. It's far superior to the other I mentioned - aka Tony Blackburn ffs.
