  1. Probably Rich Chorley was gonna be on the team and the TV people backed out 'cos it's only a 30 minute programme. - Kev
  2. I know what you mean Dave, but it's your neck of the woods and no longer mine. Spain beckons. Tempests on the terrace but not on the dancefloor! - Kev.
  3. No it's not OK. I've got a Stardust copy that I paid £2.50 for. I would gladly have paid twice that so that I can stick it in a jukebox when I get one. Fine to play at home - and that's about the only place for it. - Kev.
  4. Really?....they didn't just ignore it, but actually moved away rather than deal with it. Unbelievable! - Kev
  5. The ONE that never fails for me.......Love, Love, Love - Bobby Hebb. There can't be just one though, so to the list I'd add.. You've Been Cheating - Impressions Rainy Day - Parliaments She Doesn't Love me - Ray & Blue Satins ....and lots more. - Kev
  6. Off topic I know, but Fek me - $4,500 for the Bin Laden poster. I had one and gave it away . - Kev
  7. What condition are they in?
  8. Pete, it works exactly the same as Ebay's condemnation of bootlegs. Advertising them is not allowed, selling them is not allowed. Both happen frequently and often on multiple items. They might even get reported by numerous folk on here, to no avail because they can't be ar$ed. But they do have the power to act and just occasionally might. I heard of an Ebay/Paypal transaction where a very expensive violin was traded. The buyer professed it was a copy. Paypal refunded but Paypal(or Ebay) demanded proof from the buyer that the violin had been destroyed! Now wouldn't that set the cat amongst the pigeons if they did the same with vinyl.lol. Stay lucky! - Kev.
  9. Bob, you are quite correct. I wasn't advocating that though, but rather that the sellers fees are taken into account when they price their goods. - Kev.
  10. Pete, your reputation precedes you. I'd have no problem in gifting you a payment - but as I stated (re-itterated by Pomonkey) Paypal might. I do object though to purchasing a record and later being told that only Paypal gift would be acceptable as "there's nothing in the rules against it". That wasn't from you I might add, but it was a purchase on here which I didn't continue with. - Kev
  11. I'm sure that you don't Andy, and I'm sure others will expand on that. I think I'm correct in saying that paying by gift is against Paypal Terms & Conditions if you are paying for goods/services purchased. A seller that asks you to do this is in breach of those T&C's and according to Paypal is at risk of having their account suspended/closed. Personally, I don't mind gifting to a mate or someone i know and trust, but I do object to being asked to or told that I must. Account for your fees and price accordingly. - Kev
  12. Good to see that this issue is resolved now. Craig, that's a reasonable explananation but you really should have made your imminent absence clear to any buyer beforehand. On the odd occasion I've purchased at a higher price from a UK seller (as opposed to buying from the U.S. and expecting it to take longer to arrive) simply because I wanted to add a tune to a forthcoming playlist. I'd have been a bit miffed then if my experience had been similar to Daz's. Lessons learned all around I guess. - Kev
  13. Look at his profile. This was the guy who lost his record box in London in Dec 2010 and was quick enough to accept replacements from folks on here. At that time he posted his contact number as 07952716787. Hope you get sorted. - Kev
  14. Thinking of adding these to my watch list. - Kev.
  15. Hey, isn't that Etta James? OK I concede defeat. No problem - I'm quite used to being wrong about most things! - Kev
  16. Saw a photo of Jackie Wison once, and he looked like a big fat white darts player. - Kev.
  17. Will the real Etta James please stand up.
  18. I'd noticed that, but percieved defects often get airbrushed out at some stage. ......I think I'm clutching at straws now though! You got a scan of the Etta James Sings album to post up? -Kev.
  19. Hmmm, now I'm begining to doubt myself. Difficult though 'cos I've known a few females that look good in reclining mode, but then look totally different in the morning! I just thought the doubt was caused by the image in the link (initial post) being distorted - and therefore looking nothing like Etta. Whereas without that distortion there is some resemblance. Any room on that fence Pete? - Kev.
  20. I thought she was lighter skinned too, but on viewing a gallery of her photo's I'm still not sure. She looks darker in some but they're black & white photo's so still difficult to judge. I wonder if her skin tone could have lightened over the years, either naturally or cosmetically? Maybe even to make her more acceptable to a wider American market. A shame if that is the case, but understandable I guess. - Kev
  21. Wow, that's a nice little story Pete. I haven't seen that footage, but I'd like to even though I don't particularly like that track. Anyway what do you reckon of the album cover - is it Etta or not? - Kev
  22. Yes Pete, very early r & b. Not to my taste at all. JM has supplied a handful of soundclips if you follow the link in the first post. - Kev
  23. That's a bit unnecessary mate. I get a bit tired of your jokey quips when they are all you can add to serious threads, and in this case your timing makes it offensive.
  24. I'm not so sure. For some reason the album image in the link is distorted. The album cover is rectangular and not square as it should be, so the face is narrowed and lengthened. The undistorted image is much more of a likeness: Now what do you reckon? I say it's Etta. - Kev
  25. An inspiration to many, and a great loss. R.I.P. Etta James.
