  1. It's a long way to come to watch football on TV. I wonder what the chances are of getting back to my hotel to watch it on catch-up without hearing the result?
  2. Hi guys, really enjoyed the last one. Can you confirm John Parker is on the line-up for this one? My usual haunt, the 100 Club, has cancelled so I might come up for round 2. - Kev
  3. ******* CANCELLED ******* Just received a 6t's email stating that this niter is cancelled, as are the April and October '23 dates. I'm sure @Ady Croasdell and/or @Mattbolton will fully update soon. - Kev
  4. Travelling solo mate. Car ready to go and Travelodge booked. Geoff (and his great detailed reviews) and Derek Watmough have convinced me to finally make the trip- it wasn't hard to do! See you tomorrow!
  5. It's all right Stu, I'll bring my own. I find that since I disgarded the baggy trousers a mankini is the only way of getting freedom of movement for dancing.
  6. First visit for me and really looking forward to it. I need to get out and about again and from what I'm hearing this is the place to start. - Kev
  7. With the nation in mourning I am genuinely disappointed at the level of response, official or otherwise, on this site so well done for starting this one off. R.I.P Elizabeth God Save The King.
  8. Guys, I know Sean will get the send-off he deserves tomorrow. I unfortunately won't be in attendance as the worst clash of events that I've ever encountered means that I will be at my son's wedding on the same afternoon. Maybe see some of you at the 100 Club on Saturday - though all things considered that's not guaranteed for me either. - Kev.
  9. I saw Sean at the last 3 or 4 100 Club niters, following one of his involuntary periods of absence. It was great to see him back but he didn't seem quite himself to me. When I asked if he was alright I just got one of his stock answers.. "it'll all come out in the wash." Pleased to have known you fellah, and saddened to see you go. Rest in Peace No1. - Kev.
  10. Happy Birthday Dave! Blue Posts on Saturday? - Kev
  11. Thanks Dave. The sooner the better mate. - Kev
  12. The Ree Flores take, warts (?) and all, is Northern Soul perfection to me, whereas the almost identical Willie Faulk I would skip past in a sales box, and this one too I suspect. That said, LA is on my bucket list so maybe I'll get to hear this live. If I read correctly I've already missed a European Tour that I knew nothing about. - Kev
  13. Or, as it will obviously be compared to those two versions, it could just end up being a less acclaimed version much like her cover of her mother's ' Just Say You're Wanted and Needed '. Perfect for live sessions as shown, but otherwise open to direct comparison. Angel City Records are hitting the button with their 60's vibe - I'd sooner hear more 'new' 60's stuff from her. - Kev
  14. Cheers Ste. Thought I'd slipped by unnoticed but you caught me out and bought a smile to my face. 100 Club was great - just how it always used to be! - Kev Cheers Dave. Hope you're in good health. See you in Mojacar if a room becomes available.
  15. Have you tried asking the seller? I recently had an eBay seller that didn't ship to the UK - until I messaged and asked him. He answered that he could if I wanted and he'd sort out the mailing costs for me. Turned out to be one of the quickest deliveries from the USA that I've ever had. - Kev
  16. Surely not. I'd be a bit miffed if someone posted my emails up on a public site. If JM wants to post the info on here I'm sure he's more than capable. - Kev
  17. Welcome aboard Jim. Make the most of the site, there's some very knowledgeable people on here so most questions can be answered quickly. I'd be very surprised if you didn't find that you already know some of the members. - Kev
  18. Try PMing Leo, member and infrequent poster on here under the name Ljblanken. I met him when he was over here and visiting the 100 Club. He had something going on in the LA area but I'm sure he posted a couple of years ago that he had moved on to the New York scene. Good luck. - Kev
  19. A year has passed since that engaging raconteur, original soulboy and esteemed collector Dave Kilworth (Dthedrug) sadly perished in a house fire at his home address. I still read through his old posts to educate and entertain myself. Continue to rest in peace fellah - Kev
  20. Cathy Carlson is a great choice and the only version I've played out. My favourite version by far and I wasn't inclined to vote as it wasn't included, but begrudgingly will vote for Little Anthony. - Kev
  21. A Merry Christmas and a safe and soulful New Year to one and all. - Kev
  22. Haha, that is the cheerful bit cos it rhymes with booze. I deleted the rest and it wouldn't let me delete the whole post. Merry Christmas!
  23. 6am is the very earliest ending time in my opinion. 4 o'clock is just a joke and inconveniences everybody that relies on public transport. As for 3 o'clock - never heard of that being called a niter. Once went to a soul night that was stretched to go on til 3 but that was probably so the promoter could avoid sorting accomodation for the euro Dj's that attended. It was neither one thing or the other and I didn't enjoy it. Between 3 and 6am is the best part of any niter for me as all the soul tourists and pretenders have left and you know for sure you're with like minded folk. - Kev
  24. Steve, I like your take on the historical provenance of a piece of vinyl. It's something that is largely ignored. I have a copy of Walter Jackson's 'That's What Mama Say'. A printed label on it states ' Mrs Jeannette Jackson' and a Detroit Michigan address. I'd love to think it was his mother's copy of the song he recorded about her. Probably not, and I haven't managed to find out, but it struck me when I first saw it in a sales box and means more to me because of that possibility. - Kev
