  1. Nice one Dave ! - Kev
  2. Just as an aside, after posting this on here as part of a 2009 playlist, I was contacted by Larry Patterson who's band the UP-SET were backing/studio musicians on this tune. Here's what he had to say: "a little tib bit about Call On Me! The singers could not really hit the HIGHS, so my lead singer Joey Guarino dubbed them in,.....ha ha" and, "Also our voices were dubbed in. here is the breakdown. of the UP=SET (Music Combination) my band: Joey Guarino~Lead vocals Larry Patterson~Sax~vocals Denny Gill~Trumpet~vocals Billy Sparks~Bass~vocals Tom Somich~Drums~vocals Frank Donahue~Guitar~vocals Then there were the Presentations 4 black guys If I remember and a few strings were added." - Kev
  3. Still can't see anything Henning - somethings trying to load, but failing. - Kev
  4. You spoke to me as sharp as any knife Why do you bring such misery to my life - Gene Toones...What More Do You Want - Kev
  5. Maybe they are going straight for the market that don't give a hoot about ovo and therefore won't care that it's also a boot? i.e. the who cares what it's on brigade. Ultimately there will probably be less fuss made about it and they'll sell a lot more copies. That's just a guess btw. - Kev
  6. So if it's only one copy of Rita & Tiaras, is it vg++ or near mint ? - Kev
  7. ....Why couldn't I explain that all the tears and the pain you feel today will save you a solemn tomorrow. IMO - Kev
  8. R.I.P. Joe. A sad and premature loss to the scene and to this site. Condolences to family & friends. - Kev
  9. They may be, I don't know so was wrong to presume. Post amended accordingly. - Kev
  10. 70's boot on Riverside, and a brand new release on HIB: (On closer inspection it looks like it's an Inferno release, with the HIB label reproduced with permission.) ....with The Webs....Give In on the flip - at least 5 copies currently on the bay. - Kev
  11. Done that, but got no image. Could just be me. Never mind. - Kev.
  12. What record box? Am I supposed to join or sign in to something in order to view it? - Kev
  13. I'm good Dave, or I was until I fell over. Vid 2 reminded me of a few I've seen at 'local' soul nights. It's the innocenti effect. - Kev
  14. Dave, what exactly were you looking for when you found this? - Kev
  15. Russ, my previous posts were generalising, hence equating free entry with dj's plying their trade for free. There are obvious exceptions .....charity events (though they shouldn't be free admission IMO), and a few events where collectors and music fans gather together to celebrate the artists and their output - Dave Moore's brilliant Hitsville Weekenders being a notable example. You're very lucky to find a venue that pays you, and it's admirable that your profits are used to pay your dj's. Not the sort of event I was talking about in my generalisation, and I must pay another visit to Peterboro soon - it's been too long. I will add that on a number of occasions, at various venues, I've been offered free entry (for distance travelled or helping set up etc) , but insist on paying as I reckon the the promoters and dj's at the places I attend are worth every penny they can get. - Kev
  16. Neither would I. And if I were a promoter I wouldn't dream of not paying my DJ's. Too many 'promoters' building their ego's from full floors created by, amongst other things, minimal door tax and the expectation of free DJ's. Too many ' dj's' happy to oblige and willing to obtain top tunes by the easiest possible boot..... I mean route. - Kev
  17. Surprised that you think charging a high entry fee penalises guests. Not always the case, but I generally find that you get what you pay for in life, and this scene included. IMO free entry events are to be avoided and I consider it disrespectful not to pay the DJ's for their input. Unless of course their input and their collection is worthless - Kev
  18. Any chance of some actual playlists? That way I can quickly judge wether any future events might be to my taste and worthwhile attending.( The purpose of this forum, I thought) I'm sure there's some good stuff on here but I stopped listening after 90 secs. - Kev
  19. All my vinyl gets the Amberclens treatment on arrival and I've been recommending it for years. I recently bought a really cheap crackly G graded Deena Johnson demo as I reckoned it was muck in the grooves rather than wear. A quick spay of this stuff and wipe with a soft cloth and it played perfect. No hiss, no crackle, and it even cleaned the grime off the label. Amberclens was one of a number of products tested at a forensic laboratory for quick and easy cleaning of CSI type equipment. It was important than no traces (and we're talking nanogrammes) of contamination were able to be transferred from one crime scene to another. Amberclens was by far the most effective stuff tested. - Kev
  20. I agree with your choice. Mine initially felt a bit tight across the top but loosened off nicely without ever becoming too slack. I've seen them in the odd independent shoe shop for around £100. - Kev
  21. Edited. Should have learnt to read bad grammar by now. - Kev
