  1. Tommy Tate “hold on” is a very special LP
  2. George Jackson superb
  3. Don’t think Randy brown “welcome to my room” has had a mention yet. All his other lp’s are also great but it’s been a while since I’ve sat and listened to any lp all the way through Doris duke “I’m a loser” Bobby Womack lp’s in general
  4. If it doesn’t sell it’s going back in the box always has a ring of desperation about it
  5. I would never have expected that to work for a track within a Mixcloud set
  6. Your ability to find all these tracks is impressive. I’ve heard this but couldn’t remember where. A database of what is where would be the way to go.
  7. Sorry can’t remember the detail only that it was played first from the LP
  8. Love this Arthur recently included it on his spot on deans radio show and told the story.
  9. Exactly and that’s not a name mentioned in connection to the wheel but he may have attended ?
  10. The people being discussed here must be quite old now so probably out less often ? mid 70s or older at a guess ? who is the oldest person still active on the scene ?
  11. Some key players from New Orleans had a huge influence on the cities output and Soul music overall. Eddie Bo, alan Toussaint.
  12. and fantastic cover version which I heard first and probably prefer
  13. Classic deep soul love how the musicians never over power the vocal and really work to carry it.
  14. Not an individual record as such but muscle shoals / fame as a sound and a group of musicians were a huge influence
  15. Currently on season 3 of the bear on disney seasons 1 and 2 were superb so hoping for more of the same The x-mas meal near end of season 2 being the best episode so far. So intense.
  16. This is what I was thinking of
  17. It’s not this one. I’ll dig through my CD’s tomorrow to find it and post it up.
  18. Gaz you must know the tune where the female vocalist repeat cascara ? can’t remember much else but it’s an upbeat dancer..
  19. Classic track that got a reissue
  20. Still hugely influential though and has lots of versions And then also other titles :- funky 4 corners, Harlem rumble, ton of dynamite etc In terms of influence the amen break pretty much created a whole genre in drum and bass so that’s hugely influential
  21. so many versions of this song. Probably the most copied song I know.
  22. It’s fantastic a personal all time favourite.
  23. That last quote box in the first post is thoughts by innersouls. superb record. tried to grab the quote but failed.
  24. Essex iv “my heart just can’t take it” natural impulse “she went away” Seville “show me the way” personal faves along with flowers already mentioned. There other is also worth a mention. never really liked modern when I first got into soul and northern but listen to it a lot now.
