  1. Is the ike noble its bad issue quite tough ? I only ever saw demos. Or I can’t remember seeing many issues.
  2. So if you sell record for 2k is the onus on you to prove how much you paid for it ? And hence how much profit ?
  3. A good soul record is a good soul record regardless of genre. These tags can sometimes be applied to somehow push an average record. not always but sometimes.

That’s my thought a good stock control system means inventory levels and location are managed to a high level of accuracy with just the odd error.

I can’t imagine the claims process being much fun. Luckily I never to to do it. Worst I had was a parcel to Japan got lost so I issued a refund. 3 months later the records ended up back with me.
  6. This is exactly the point I was making more tracks jointing the genre over time which previously were not considered low rider.
  7. I guess it’s a bit like northern in that respect. Tracks dismissed as not right for the northern scene have been accepted in later years as the sound and what’s acceptable evolves. so todays slowie could end up being tomorrows low rider.
  8. Not sure I’d refer to them as weak. For many they are as good or better than the dancers. some fantastic soul music some are mega rare and highly collectable. I’m a bit surprised you haven’t had more exposure at least to the term if not the music ?
  9. Looks like I read it on here
  10. Prior to that didn’t John manship own the don gardner and sell or trade it to Levine, i’m sure I’ve heard that story told ?
  11. Lots of big classics in the shows that ended 24 and started 25. tunes like that remind me why northern soul is so good.
  12. Even after Stafford the scene continued to evolve. Labels like tuska, the more gritty funky southern soul etc that maybe didn’t break through previously. the whole explosion of low rider sounds which was probably down to CD swaps and the use of the internet. Fully agree on the internet having a huge impact.

I did see something on instagram about a half price sale for all of January. On all items apart from auction items. might be some decent prices at that ?

Went to the bomb quite a few time myself and also under its previous name the hippo which was a good club. i moved to Nottingham autumn 93 after Venus shut that summer so missed that but heard great things about the place.

If I’ve got the address right I believe the dungeon also played an important role in Nottingham night life as Venus.
  20. Jimmy raye Philly dog was the record that got me into northern. Raw energy an awesome record.
  21. Certainly not what I would class as a 60s stomper. Sulerb record but more mid tempo as you said. I switch between this and Bobby jones love both versions.
  22. I thought Frederick Hymes was played in progressive northern clubs in a similar way things like James bell were never really considered it a modern record.

What’s the one record you spent a long time trying to snag a copy but for what ever reason didn’t manage it. for me it’s Thomas Bailey “just won’t move” on king i was even watching a copy on eBay that went really cheap but forgot to bid. Other than that copy I hardly ever saw it. there are lots of others but they were already expensive and had lots of demand so always went over what I was willing to pay.
  25. 150 dollars if I remember right when exchange rate was 2 dollars to 1 pound ?
