Yes maybe stomper is the wrong word it has a hard edge to it.

There is a mountain of music for them to get there teeth (or dentures) into then.... i bought loads of those dodgy bootleg cd’s when I first got into northern they had some very good stuff from Stafford era on them. this is one I really like but haven’t heard out too often more recently. Full on stomper. .

I would say it needs at least 2 people to generate a high auction end and on some cases there are plenty of other high bidders. but I do agree a high auction on one example of something does not mean that is what it is worth

  9. Fair enough your opening post on this thread doesn’t suggest that’s what it is about ? more just a free for all to discuss share anecdotes
  10. No I didn’t take it personally just adding what it was about for me
  11. My involvement has been hear as much soul music as I possibly could try and find original copies of those I like or I feel have some potential. Finding records after years of searching was a big part of it for me. i have never been a DJ
  12. I don’t believe a record should be consigned to history if it has been booted or reissued. i do believe it should be played of original vinyl. The point about owning the original and playing a pressing makes some sense though as prices are just so high that they are as much an investment as a record now. loads of great and very rare records have been booted or reissued and they all still get played not sure why one in particular should be any different.
  13. Yes but it’s 2018 now and my point is aimed at clubs now. when the scene was in its earliest days things were different it’s not at all the point i’m Trying to make. if you want to dance to boots in 2018 please carry on.
  14. I have not come across these clubs where boots are played is it really a lot of places doing this ? I would never choose to attnd one. i once or twice have been in a trendy / alternative bar in a city sentre and heard some northern but it was obvious it was boots being played. As it was just a regular night out for a few beers it didnt bother me as i hadnt gone out to hear soul music or to a northern night. a true soul club has to play original vinyl its what makes it special. cheapies, rarities, obscure, well knowns all fine and its nice to get a healthy mix of them all. With probably a focus on the rarer more obscure stuff to make it that bit more special.
  15. Yes we all must believe our time was the best. i struggle with how things are now though with all the social media, mobile phones and lAck of new quality music to create a vibrant scene.
  16. The quality of that video is good. Can't be many putting on that kind of a show now with that level of quality in the vocal.
  17. That would explain things. i did a quick check on popsike after my comment and saw it was styrene.
  18. The copies out there in bad shape seem a bit at odds with the fact it didnt get played at the time. Or just badly stored transported and deteriorated over time? wouldn't there just have been a box of ex copies sat somewhere and more clean copies around now ? its a great record.
  19. Found the little f@@ker that was tricky on a phone

All still available the marva whitney is a cracking stomper to get the youngsters up and dancing. A nice piece of gritty ghetto soul as are lots of other bits on this great label.

I think this is a pretty fair comment. i heard the valuation on what was left and it seemed low or a dealer had got them cheap. thats the problem when people who dont know the values are given the task of finding the values and selling.
