  1. Is ty Karim to obvious to suggest ? i guess it is.
  2. As an aside things sounding like other things... there is a current ad running on tv with a dance music style beat. But for the first couple of seconds it sounds as if Lou pride “coming home” is about to start. the track goes off to be quite different but just for a second the drum beat sounds very similar. anybody else noticed ?

  4. Trickers tramping shoes very similar to above comes in all sole types and lots of different uppers. https://www.trickers.com/uk/m7906.html most uk shoe companies will have a style like this its a classic shape.
  5. Is it something off here you are looking for ? https://www.solatio.co.uk/ i have not heard to term crossover relating to shoes but it gets a mention on above. for smart casual now i would wear a pair of cheaney or trickers brown leather brogues. Timeless and very well made. Cost quite a bit but last years.
  6. Getting this new copy alongside one of the other copies and studying them for any differences ? Run out grooves, stamps etc etc the label does appear to be a quite different blue but lots of things can cause that.
  7. I’ve had exact same model since 94ish and they really are excellent and well worth the money being asked. i wasn’t sure if they still make them and a quick google search took me to this new release mk7 at an eye watering 900gbp which in the review doesn’t sound as good as the older models like the one here. https://www.whathifi.com/reviews/technics-sl-1200sl-1210-mk7
  8. I suppose its not out of the question that they could have all been pressed at the same time and all be 1st issues.
  9. Well spotted though the stamped matrix on the original is the same as the printed number on the 2nd press ? so maybe some kind of mistake was made and then corrected when it was spotted ?
  10. Town used often rhymes with clown
  11. Was it a record you heard often did it get played a lot a various venues ? 60s or 70s style sound ?
  12. I’d put up a list of all the ones you know it isn’t as they are all going to be suggested. anything with clown in the title I assume you’ve already found ?
  13. Under the broad umbrella of soul music there is a ridiculous amount of music under a lot of different genres, tempos and eras. the records I love now I wouldnt have given a second listen when I started so within the genre my tastes have evolved a lot. i don’t think the evolution of rock music would have been any greater than this. people are either passionately into music or they aren’t.
  14. Our local paper ran a story of people leaving before the music had even started. at least you stuck it out and looks like you had a great time. i am looking forward to similar adventures with my kids as they get a bit older. Not sure i could manage download but if thats what they want to do i would have to give in.....
  15. I'm no expert but it sounds more 70s ? its a nice record and i've never seen or heard it before.
  16. I can forgive that it’s got plenty of passion and emotion. i do like the lee fields as well equally as much. as a potential club tune HH has a better backing track.
  17. And this great version
  18. It plays a big part. There will be other factors but i'd say this is one of the main reasons.
  19. I may be wrong but i think its to keep good quality grooves and make the track longer they just split the track over both sides of the single. Sometimes part 2's can go off into the groove a bit or experiment. It was most likely all cut at the same session. quite a lot of 45s are done like this.
  20. Flip side lovers plea is also great as a sweet soul side so collectible twice over. i had to check if I still had this but it’s gone.
  21. I have a small selection up on ebay including rayons on decca which is about the best female group sweet soul 45 i know. also willie johnson on cat and a few others with very strong slow sides. you can PM with any questions etc https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/pushbuttonworld/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=
  22. And to state the obvious the opposite to this is very rare records not reaching similar prices or higher due to lack of exposure and lack of copies coming to market. maybe now after the scene existing for so long this is far less likely but in the not to distant past it was probably true.
  23. It doesn’t take many dealers / collectors to hoover up cheap stock of a good record fairly quickly in reasonable quantity then they sell them one at a time. i’d feel Embarrassed paying today’s rate for something like Jeanette it’s so far away from what I believe the soul scene should be about.
  24. Bbc4 does some good music shows if you check the iplayer not soul music but the recent documentary about the guy who produced dr Dre was very good. he also did lots of other musicians jimmy iovine is the name is was trying to remember
  25. Solidsoul I agree most people just happy to listen to whatever is on the radio. not many people actually actively seek out more obscure music.
