I dont know exactly when prices went this crazy but it was still possible to buy lots of good hard to find records at sensible prices in 2000 and probably for most of the decade after. Maybe 2010 and after things got silly ?
Revisited the list to check out some of those I didn’t know. Some cracking tune.
i had forgotten all about Milton James on dore. Brilliant record.
one I’ve not seen mentioned yet but was one of the best records played on many nights for me
primers how does it grab you
Agree I’ve never considered this expensive always just a good cheap record.
i think I’ve had all but one of her records and really rate her as an artist.
A great list a few others I love
richard marks various tracks Speak now being the best ?
barbara hall 2 on tuska
fred knight on maxine
jimmy church peachtree
charles burns and jimmy Braswell on gene
Fred Briggs is one of my all time favourite soul 45s I’d say that’s a bargain.
i don’t think I’ve ever heard the uptempo side played in a club and it can’t have had much attention.

That was the 3rd copy the test press there was a large thread on here when it was found.
maybe found is the wrong word. When the owners decided they wanted to sell is more like it. And made the collecting world aware they had it.
Yes Mal here’s another
and then small labels like forte and tuska have recycled backing tracks for various releases.
lee Harris and marva Whitney both providing fantastic uptempo hard soul over the same backing of forte.
I can see the appeal of the track it’s very obvious and immediate I just don’t think it warrants grail status.
i actually really like “I’m so happy” so it’s not the style of the 45 just the quality for me is missing.
