  1. James Have you got Parliaments on Cabell yet
  2. manship has some kind of contraption to take out warps. He charges for the service so only realy worth bothering if its a big money record. or is that a service he offers only for records he is then going to sell.......
  3. and I never suggested loads of cheap spounds merely a few mixed in with the rare stuff.
  4. I understand eveything you've said i'm not missing the point. I just buy what I can when I can simple as that. Now if I ever win the lottery I would put together a nice hotbox of my own
  5. I agree a DJ spot should consist of a lot of prehaps very rare soul afterall the theory is we travel a long way to hear the stuff. But I don't think a night should be confined to just this. So much of the best soul music ever made costs $5 and probably never gets played in venues as a result of it being to easy to find. And I can't see Butch or Dyson or any of those top DJs signing up to this very blinkered approach. The can assemble a breathtaking hotbox but that isn't where it ends. Its more about a true passion for the music that keeps them at the top. So as much as I love the hot box sounds I want to hear something I can go away and buy fairly easily. I guess Mixed Feelings and Richard Marks "Innocent bystander" would be my choice for a 2006 hotbox I haen't heard my 2007 selection yet........ but i'm looking forward to it. Cookie Jackson "Find me a lover" could be propelled from 20 quid to 3 figures if a hotbox DJ gave it some hammer. I bet it would sound immense over a large system.
  6. It's a good way to collect if you need your ego massaging or have a money tree in your back garden. Can't see the point in it myself. Now that Rayons Decca release I won on ebay last night would go my hot box if I had one but instead it will have to go next to their other rather dissapoiting Forte title on my "not-so hot shelves".
  7. Patterson twins had 2 x 45s on King and then some others as well.
  8. are these just the same takes as on king or different ?
  9. I've seen that 45 on bantu quite a lot I think its by Gilmore Brothers ?
  10. I still prefer "i'm through with you" but both sides are great.
  11. That is a terrific 45 last year I saw copies sell for $10 (after I got mine) and also copies listed for 80UK so lord knows what the price is, I don't think it has a stable price. I paid $30 for my copy and was very happy to do so. Its stunning.
  12. When the Ray Lewis version of "Too sweet to be lonely" D'ar starts fetching 250 somebody can have my copy
  13. Has she made a bad record ? everything i've heard has been top notch. Need mp3s for the blue star if anybody has them. I saw a copy on ebay about a year or so ago and despite very poor condition it made a good price. Must be saught after
  14. LP is available in 2 formats as I remember. P-Vine from Japan. And far more desireable Turbo from USA. One far more expensive and much much harder to find than the other.
  15. Amy who ? Give me Annette Snell any day of the week. Now she can sing.
  16. Lovely copy of this Bobby Womack HIM 45. There is a 2 second cue burn on the very start of the vocal side but its over before the record takes hold. Not realy been a problem to my enjoyment of the disc. Light surface marks but still retains all original gloss nice and shiny. So a strong vg+ Make me a cash offer if you want it or alternatively deep soul trades from all eras. Could be a good side for an oldies DJ to get behind ? I can't remember hearing this played very often.
  17. check yer PMs
  18. This is a great 45 but isn't it the other side "A man in love" that is the real killer ? well thats what I baught it for.... and this copy here is very good value !!!
  19. Richard Marks "Innocent bystander" must be very rare as a 12" the 7" is something i've only personally seen for sale once but know of others. I've never seen a 12"
  20. I have a poor recording of this on an old tape and always thought it was a cover up name until I did a bit of digging for info... so has it ever been played to a dancefloor ? great record.
  21. "My shoes" is an absolute cracker. I was actually just listening to that this afternoon. Then I gave "love stealing" a quick spin. 50UK sounds about right you may actually get it cheaper but it deserves to be much more.
  22. This record is very easy to find as an OG probably still less than 10 dollars so I can't see any ponit behind anybody booting it. Great record on both sides. Now as for some of her other 45s they are a bit harder to find.....
  23. I've picked up 2 x Sorokas 45s only last year not sure if there are any more ? both are on the same label one credited to Sorokas and one to Sorokas Band both cheap I wasn't buying soul in the 80s on account of only being 10 in 1984 so I missed all the bargains from Soul Bowl and as a result I doubt Veda will ever enter my collection. It makes me laugh how in some circles a 45 like veda is now considered rare.
  24. Those radio shows were very good at soul45.org as well that is a shame. The funk forum seems to be quite now as well. Its still there via a freehosts link but doesn't seem as busy.
