    45 Sales

    pm sent.
  3. not sure you should mention live auctions.
  4. i've got a copy for $125 if anybody else needs it... M- condition.
  5. Roy Roberts SOLD. thanks.
  6. 2 to go... Roy Roberts "I know what to do" Tina Ex (so close to M- it has a tiny tiny blemish that does not affect play but that is how it came as unplayed stock) 450UK OK so I want top money but then again this rarely comes up set sale and what are my chances of replacing it cheap ? Bottle Tops "Ain't no trouble" Pink Bird 45UK M- Basically my google search last night came up with the Dave Thorley clip for this on here and the copy that sold here for this same price. A catchy modern track. Dylan
  7. anybody ? do people like these records ? "my best years" has that kind of traditional late 60s sound about it which makes me think it might have had the odd spin. I imagine it would sound prett good over a club system.
  8. I realy look forward to the day when a solid core of 20-30 year old knowledgable soul fans all congregate in the same venue and dance to songs that have become well known due to being played in that particular venue. James I hope you know me better than to think I would only want to collect big money playted out oldies ? if not you realy don't know me very well at all. But my point there was to new people to the scene oldies or newies doesn't matter a jot they would all be newies to these people. I guess I was letting of a little frustration and I hope to see the soul scene continue for many years.
  9. just picked up a couple of 45s by Marcus Daniel. "my best year" plaza "drill for your love" monkey town both the above sound good to me and I wondered.... has he done any others ? Dylan
  10. that seems good value to me I had no problem selling mine for 100UK.
  11. This is a fantastic record and one which should be played. Is there an original studio acetate of this in existence or is it just on tape ?
  12. For new people joinging the scene it is just not possible to assemble a collection of the classic oldies or much talked about tunes. Unless you've got stupid money to throw around. In days gone by people had the luxury of buying a few turkeys as prices were so much lower. So basically any mistakes could be taken on the chin with the knowledge that a lot of other purchases turned out to be great tunes and good value. Now you can still buy cheap soul these days that is great but you won't get hold of the classics or big dancefloor tunes for prices paid in days gone by. And there are not enouigh people interested to create a new scene based around these cheaper tunes. The scene is so far removed from what it should be its dead on its feet and it will never recover. Sorry to be negative but i tried with the northern scene for quite a long time and got so disaillusioned by it. Its just a joke these days. I still love soul music as a listening medium and still collect when time and money allows but as for a scene I can't ever see it happening again.

    Ebayer

If the guy wants to stay annonymous thats up to him. I don't know who it is and I don't realy care.... he's just getting on with his business and I don't see anything wrong with that. I do see his name against a lot of 45s but I also see a lot of other bidders should we start talking about everybody ?
  14. you sure willie mcdougal is only rated at 25-50 ? i'd have said 150 minimum and 200 not unreasonable.
  15. just sold for a lot on ebay so that would be best place for this. Can't remember exact price but it was about $700 or $800. Its the deep soul flip I like so I saved myself a lot of money by buying the radio city release
  16. this surely must be some elaborate p**s take
  17. this could be the longest list of people i've ever seen reading a thread on here...... Some of the best nigths at the union where Rob was a resident it was realy special then. I know very rare 45s have been given to early doors to to play before a major name has turned up with it to play. All good humour at the time but this occasion sounds different. James I wouldn't worry about it there are far more important things to worry about than this. Its irrelevant in the scheme of things.
  18. Brian is a good guy. Check out his comprehensive georgia soul website and you can see he's a true soul fan.
  19. thanks for pms and info here. I just need to hope everybody misses the next ebay copy. Seems to be pretty elusive.
  20. Is he somebody who posts on here ? prehaps we will see his wants list now. I'd go on a pretty special holiday myself one I couldn't normally afford.
  21. My daughter is 15 months old and she is developing some pretty nifty dance moves. She listens to a lot of soul music and hasn't complained once.
  22. BUMP if nobody has this for sale does anybody at least have an opinion on difficulty / price etc etc. cheers
  23. Different record admittedly but my copy of Sheppard Brothers on the Gene label looks M- and plays with a bit of background noise. I just put it down to the label not having high quality of press. I do need this EW to sit next to Ted Ford, Sheppard Brothers and Lee Maye but it certainly seems to be the most expensive one. Thanks for clip Simon I think we have discussed this before and you kindly mailed me a full mp3. Somebody certanly did. Its "begging you back" that I like.
  24. based on that end price the Ernie Wheelwright that finished on ebay a couple of months ago for about $750 was a good buy. I thought that was about as high as this copy would go. But its a great 45 i've been looking for a while and not seen one I could afford.
  25. looking for this if anybody can help. Dylan
