  1. A doubler from me, two versions of the same song. I've got them both but prefer the less funky cut although I think both versions are great. Mines are on UA and Tchula but can't find links to these labels. Lee Shot Williams - I ain't me - UA/Tchula Gaz It's the MT Records version for me Cheers Martyn
  2. Dave what's all this "Fall" shite.........bloody Yank get everywhere,it's Autumn So I thought I'd celebrate the opening of the new thread with a fanfare?Just listen to the opening few bars to this & you'll see what I mean.........one the best opening to a record ever imo. Fred Hughes - Don't Let This Happen To Us Brunswick
  3. Steve Yes it does spoil it a bit but I've listen to it that much I block that bit out now but it would be better without it. Yes "If You're Lonely" is a great track Cheers Martyn
  4. Spent a rather pleasant afternoon at Horse & Groom yesterday,if you like(& it seems a lot on here do)mid-tempo/crossover/70t's & 80t's you'll love it............oh you can have a beer too (well my missus can) So today's post is something that would fit in quite nicely with the sort of stuff played. Jesse James Believe In Me Baby 20th Century
  5. Dave And factor old age, drunkenness into your equation & hey presto I can't remember what I posted yesterday never mind weeks ago Cheers Martyn
  6. Had a great night last night at Driving Beat in Leeds & this sounded so good in a small dark basement room, fitted the place & atmosphere perfectly. Geater Davis - My Love Is So Strong For You House Of Orange
  7. I'd just like to agree with the earlier post about this been a great thread.Just nice to share music without having to justify it,in a civilised manner without all the bullshit that sometimes comes with the scene.Well done Dave Cheers Martyn PS I do have one complaint..........it's costing a bloody fortune buying stuff I hear
  8. I'd have clicked "Like It" twice if I could..........Tammi's voice WOW!! Cheers Martyn
  9. Emmmm The Supremes with Miss Ross.........not a fan........so I can only agree about Barbara's version been better.I'll leave it at that as I've got myself into trouble before spouting off about this particular subject See great minds think alike...........I'm in sync with the boss...........is that a good thing Cheers Martyn
  10. :D ........got asked for The Stone Roses? When I said it's a soul night mate,he told me that is soul...........my mam said Cheers Martyn
  11. Krissi I'll be at one the young lads night's tonight in Leeds (Driving Beat) & they are normal working class lads like myself but are very passionate about new sounds on original vinyl.I find you analogy ill informed to the experiences I have come across. You seem to keep to want to bring it back to expensive records but the part of the scene you are you talking about is only a part of it & there's far more cheap accessible tunes played on it.You can pay £10 for a boot/re-issue you can as easily buy an original record for that or cheaper. I think PTP reply was the best yet,I think dj's should have imagination & bring some personality to the decks. All dj's shouldn't be the same imo. Cheers Martyn
  12. Swifty Yes good this end matey hope the same with you.Looking forward to Driving Beat in Leeds tonight, should be a good un. Just love Big May's voice so distinctive & soulful, saying that not much stuff by her in the collection which I should rectify? Worth getting a copy of "Here I Am" for "Steal Away" which just a brilliant slowie,I keep meaning to get it cut to a carver as I can't be arsed to carry LP's out with me usually so I don't get to play it out enough Cheers Martyn
  13. Swifty This is the side for me,top tune from a top lady Cheers Martyn
  14. Just had a quick look on e-bay & there's a Canadian copy on 45 but not sure if it came out in the US or UK??
  15. Today's post is from the "Here I Am" Motown LP,it's the LP that has the brilliant "Steal Away" (which I've already posted) & title track "Here I Am" on it.This has also been done by the Supremes but not sure who did it first because they are both from 66 & but for me this is the far better version?............is it me or is it the same backing track as Love Unlimited "It May Be Winter Outside"???? Barbara Mcnair-Everything Is Good About You Motown LP
  16. Group perfection time from me today,as good a fiver as I've ever spent. Delegates Of Soul-Hurry,Don't Linger Boo

  18. As Otis Clay has been mentioned recently thought I'd throw this double-sider up by him."Messing" came out twice on Echo,a silver label but you need the blue label release to get both these great sides. Otis Clay - Messing With My Mind Echo Otis Clay - A Nickel And A Nail Echo
