Mike
You live in Burnley now so compared to that Hull is a city of culture...........one of the few places to make us look posh
Drop me a line when you are around in August might be able to catch you for a pint?

Often cited as a re-issue, though I rather think that this is either album only or Joe-Boy limited press.
Anyway sometime during the late 90's I bought one from Beatin' following heavy plays by Richard Searling
on Jazz FM as it was then. What a great show, with fabulous guests and chat.
Clydene Jackson I Need Your Love Joe Boy one sided press.
Mick
Just one of those tunes that you let wash over you & it makes you feel so thankful you have soul music in your life,up there with the greats imo.

Hi Everbody!
I have came to these forums after watching a documentary on NS and being blown away by the dancing and music, I am hoping to attend a NS night in Glasgow in the new year but was looking for some advise on getting some vinyl to listen to in the mean time. I am happy to spend a few quid on some as I already have a deck to play them on but really looking for some suggestions on where to start? Are there any artists or styles that are recommended for somebody just discovering Northern Soul?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
cheers

Personally before you start parting with your hard earned pennies I'd join Mixcloud (free music streaming site) as there's loads of different types of northern on there. You can then find out what rocks your boat & that then will help when you dip your toe into the vinyl buying.
Sorry if this has already been suggested not had time to read the full thread.

New to me , Nice one.
Typical of many (SS7) records played at the Torch, I'm surprised that this has slipped by.
Has it had any legs anywhere Martyn?
Mick
Can't say I remember hearing out but sure I've seen it listed on one of the Irish lads playlists?Well worth a play as you say

Todays offering from me - a cheapee and great 'un imho and a fraction of the cost of 'peace of mind ' , it's 'R&B time' and just as good dancer . Great to see it's getting played out as well .
Andy
Tis a great dancer & possibly better then "Peace Of Mind" but I'm not specially rushing to a venue to hear it.............again?

another from gwen owens / i lost a good thing , can anyone keep up with this there days
Gogger
Played last night at Waggy's "do" in Donny & first time I've heard it out it ages & yes far too fast for my little legs these days.
Then we started discussing which is the rarer the Black or Green labelled ones.........yes anoraks. So if anyone knows can you let me know(mines black)?
Bought mine at Wigan along with Sharon Scott-Could It Be You RCA & an Outsiders on Capitol for eye watering sum of £5

Personally I don' think there's a correct answer?
My only piece of advice would be buy something you love, something that moves you like nothing else.If that happens to be £10 great it leaves you £140 to go do it all again but if it's £150 so be it that is equally valid. There's only you will know if the price of your chosen record or records is/are worth it to you??
There's some £10 records I think are priceless to me & there's 4 figure priced records that aren't worth the sleeve they come in........but that's my personal choice.
Good luck in your decision making.

Del Larks was 100% played at Wigan Casino early 1976. That was the first time I had heard it.
It was pressed/booted around 1976/77 on the light blue label boot.
Slightly off topic apologies? Is just folk lore or true that John Vincent used to play the vocal then the instrumental one after the other of The Del Larks??
Cheers
